The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

What is something you like and dislike about a map of your choice?

I’ll start.

I weirdly like the hook spawns on the swamp maps. It feels really rewarding getting one of those corner hooks they only seem to spawn on swamp.

One thing I dislike about the swamp maps is how hard it can be to see scratch marks.

Balance wise, they have really interesting structures and the size of the overall map is pretty balanced. The main issue most people have I find is how drab it looks and the scratch mark issue. Also trapper and hag get significantly stronger when playing on those maps.

    overall fun map

Father Campbell’s chapel is basically perfect except for the 1 god window that can spawn in the main building. Otherwise it’s a perfect size and doesn’t have insane tile spawns

    Midwich:

Pro - The attention to detail, right down to the clock tower puzzle, is absolutely astounding. It feels like this was the map that the designers had a lot of love for.

Con - Hook spawns can be a bit erratic in my games.

    Garden of Joy

Pro: The size of the map is big enough to have separate, distinct sections without being too difficult to traverse.

Con: The previous statement does not apply to Hillbilly.

    Mount Ormond

Pro : I like how domestic the place is. Like, it's a map in a horror-themed game and there are picnic tables ? The exact same I see everywhere when I'm on holidays ! It really reminds of ski lodges I went to as a kid.

(... Plus it's the Legion map so I heart that ! And there's the Legion mural that Jeff painted !)

Con : It's so bright it's hard to hide.

Midwich - I like the overall aesthetic of the map and how the breakable walls open up new paths between the two floors. I also like that there’s secret room that can be opened. I don’t like how sometimes the hooks are in awkward spots though, on odd occasion you can down someone and because it thinks a hook on another floor is right nearby there isn’t a hook near you on the floor you’re on.

Garden of Joy - The overall look of the map is cool and the outside area seems good in terms of chases. But the interior of the house is way too dark, I can’t see the walls at all in some places and running into walls while moving around really sucks. The old version of the lower level of the Game was like that too and was just as annoying.

RPD - I like the look of the map and that it’s trying to spice things up with more intricate multilevel paths. But the weird unintuitive pathing in some places and dead ends can get annoying, and the narrow doorways are a real nuisance for some killers. Like yesterday I kept jumping into doorframes as Victor, not the best map for me in that respect.

I personally like the Game map due to the references from the saw movies. The bad thing is that the pallets are alot.

Garden of Joy - Terrible collision on everything for blight(huge bush collision + shack has tons of stuff outside)/billy(if you run around the yellow bushes you literally can't be chainsawed by him) + the main building is way too strong and chains into outside windows/fillers/tiles. Very rare for you to walk 10 seconds without going by 2 pallets.

RPD - Stale and annoying to path with some very strong loops while having pallets so bad you can swing around them completely. Survivors dedicated to stealthing or running shadow step/lightweight make it so annoying when the game is slowed down and 2 people are trying to hide for hatch. Unless you're nurse which makes the gates impossible to get they are too far in distance. Also the front door spawn is basically guaranteed so killers with mobility can get a free hit/down early.

Eyrie of Crows - Way too pallet dense in the front while being massive with a strong main building. Not sure if it's still a thing, but shack window used to face a jungle gym window a lot. Annoying ink sounds make you think there are survivors nearby & reagent makes it impossible to see.

Haddonfield - Complete deadzone in the middle and teammates rarely make good use of the buildings and use the few pallets available

Mount Ormond - Love a snowy map, balance wise i feel it's fair, nothing too strong or annoying to deal with. Con being a little bit too bright.

New Haddonfield - I love this map now, not too big, good looking and fair. Con being that could be hook starved at either end on the map,

I love any map, if it isn't a corn heaven.

I hate when people think of something they want to share on the forums, so they pretend to ask a question purely so they can "i'll go first". it's transparent and cringey.

    Azarov's Resting Place.

Pro: The game chose this map on my very first DBD match. I was playing as a baby Claudette against a Huntress. A very precious memory of a better time.

    Con: It got reworked.

I think Midwich is probably my favorite map, for the aesthetic and because I think it plays pretty fairly from both sides.

Cons are the hook spawns have recently been pretty wild, and the exit gates are too close together for an endgame open against anything but a hamburger Myers

Ormond is bright, but on the other hand, scratch mark tracking can be (and usually is) a real pain there.

And I hate when people go around compulsively negging for no other purpose than to start #########, but we can't always get what we want.

Anyway, Gas Heaven: I love the convenience store for meme purposes, and also how the garage gen serves as a bottleneck and survivor trap until it gets repaired. But I hate the Great Wall of Cars to the south and east that make the map far larger than it actually is.

One thing I like about Lery’s is the atmosphere, especially when playing against Dredge, Demo, or a stealth killer, they nailed the creepy abandoned hospital aesthetic, and completing the centre gen and watching the different monitors fall down will never not be awesome

one thing I dislike though, is the fact that playing Billy, Huntress, or, to a lesser extent, Oni on Lery’s, makes me want to gouge out my eyes, I really do wish that the map was not in the map pool if you pick one of those 3 killers

What I LOVE on Midwich: One of the best visual designs, Silent Hill easter eggs like the Clock Tower, some breakable walls that actually have reasons for both breaking and not breaking, having new utility like creating that shortcut in the bathrooms, having then good ways for the killer to move around the two floors. Because of that, you can sometimes ambush unaware survivors by pushing them to the stairs and them jumping down on the gate's corridor and intercept them there. A coin toss, but a really satisfying one.

What I HATE on it: It has the absolute worst hook spawns in the game. Sometimes, entire corridors with no hooks. It's quite comon on that map to get downs but be unable to get hooks due to the place you downed the survivor, and I hate that with all my forces, because nothing can be more frustrating than getting a down but losing the progress you would gain for it because of a design flaw. If only a few more hooks were added to it, the map would be perfect.

I adore RPD for the accuracy and little details from the game. Con is all the narrow corridors pretty much all around the map

    Swamp

Pro: Unless the Killer is Trapper I like it as Survivor

Con: Unless I'm playing Trapper, Dredge or have a ton of aura reading perks I hate it as Killer

Yes, that opinion is totally self serving and I'm good with that.

    Midwich.

I really love the asthetics and gameplay on this map. It also doesn't have to many bs loops.

But I really can't get over the bad gen and hook spawns.

    Coldwind

Pros: Its set in daylight making it really stand out compared to most maps

    Cons: FLASHBANG GOING OUT

    Midwich.

I love the atmosphere and design of the map, and the little references/Easter eggs to the first game. The gameplay is also good on this map as well.

However, I really dislike that you can see really far down the hallways and the hooks spawns. The hook spawns are really messy, hooks can spawn very spaced out where there's no chance in hooking survivors and sometimes hooks don't even spawn on entire floors. Gen spawns are awful as well.
