Is it just me or are even more killers hellbent on slugging excessively for 4k?
I honestly think there wasn't a single match over the course of the past 50+ matches where a killer didn't slug to ensure there's not even the slightest chance for the last survivor to get hatch. So many games have been dragged out as a slug game for five minutes and more and while in principle it's a valid strategy to slug for 4k the frequency and ... dedication to this kind of excessive slug gaming is.... baffling.
Anyone else having the same experience or am I just having weird killers the past few days?

I am having the exact same experience. In conjunction with the throwing survivors, I can genuinely see why so many people are upset. Killers are playing more mean than ever, survivors are "chilling" more than ever. I joked about it before, but I am living Sluzzy's nightmare world. Every weird exaggeration they have ever made has been coming true on this patch. Lol.

It sounds like there were 50+ last survivors that were hellbent to playing the slug game. It’s…… baffling.

I've been getitng a lot of bad teanmates and most killers are camping at five gens, why??? They could easily wipe the floor with us.
16 -
Ive been experiencing the exact same thing. I played for about 2 hours last night just to give solo queue a chance and see how matches were feeling. Majority of my matches I experienced tunneling, face camping, and slugging at 4-5 gens and being left to bleed out. I feel like at this point its being done intentionally, to what end is beyond me.

"Must be a survivor main playing killer and do everything for 4K to inflate kill rate"
I only play 2 survivor match since update
Nemesis with Ruin and quite average. Didnt tunnel/camp. 0k
Freddy camper. No Kindred, 4K.
The rest I play as Trapper, only lose if map isnt in my favor.

Personally I slug for pressure pretty frequently but once two are dead and I’m about to kill the third I don’t bother slugging to avoid the hatch unless I happen to spot the fourth survivor right away. I honestly don’t care that much if a survivor beats me to finding the hatch or not, it’s not worth the effort to me at that point to drag the game on another four or five minutes or whatever trying to force the 4k over the 3k. 3k and the last one escapes is fine (although I do at least try and get to the hatch first and stop them opening the gate afterward, I don’t completely throw in the towel.)
5 -
Slugging for 4k was very common before patch it's not related tho, people are just obnoxious / play like their life depends on it, nothing new
6 -
I know this comment might not be helpful, but Unbreakable on 1 or more people can murder this strategy. Unless the killer is a super good Nurse or Blight, the person with UB will have picked themselves up by the time that the killer downs and picks up the final survivor. If you're lucky, the person who picks themselves up has enough time to pick up 1 or 2 others. I usually avoid slugging more than 2 people specifically because of this.
Out of curiosity, have the killers who've been slugging you run Infectious Fright? I usually run this with Bubba, and it can quickly snowball if multiple people are in my terror radius when it procs.
1 -
Man, you gotta play with me then. I always let 2 to 4 people go xD.
1 -
Played against a Pyramid Head who tunneled, kept missing with his power against one survivor just constantly baiting him, then 3-man slugged to ensure there was no chance of escape. He had 1 gen left. The entire team rallied together to stop the killer from tunneling me out. It unfortunately did not work.
Killer was very smug and self-satisfied in their "win". Didn't feel like I got outplayed, but I guess this is what the devs want.

Gotta slug for that 4k. Especially if there's a dc. Hoo boy, do killers this patch get super sweaty when there's a dc now. And I'd get it if they just wanted the match over. But these are the same killers slugging for that 4k. So instead of making hatch spawn and let it become a hatch race, with the survivor who's teammate abandoned them have some shot at getting points, they leave someone on the ground for 4 minutes to bleed out. Super engaging!
4 -
I honestly don't even get the point of your comment. There are two survivors left, one gets downed and is then slugged. The last survivor can see the killer starting their search for them and leaving the slug. What do you propose they do?
It has been common, yes. - But it hasn't ben that extreme. Like you say: it went from being a somewhat common occurrence to sth you think their life depended on it.
It works exactly once and we're talking about the last two survivors. - From what I've witnessed so far it tends to go like this: one survivor gets downed. Killer starts their search. Other survivor picks the downed one up. Rinse repeat until both are down at the same time or one has bled out. If, at some point, UB comes into play it adds one more circle of this. If the UB survivor doesn't pick themselves up the moment / just shortly before the other one bleeds out it's ggs one way or the other. And, as you already pointed out: usually UB comes into play earlier in the game.
No infectious fright, as far as I can tell. I at least never got hit by it in a situation like that.

Less people are running BBQ so they no longer feel confident in winning the 50/50, not to mention sole survivor is a possibility now. Before the patch there was about a 90% the killer would slug for a 4k, now its every game.
2 -
Slugging for the 4K is unfortunately so common right now, even down here in lower mmr. You'll get called a toxic camper if you don't suicide to try and raise your teammate, even if the killer themselves is right there camping the downed survivor.
Thankfully, some killers have mercy and will farm a bit to make the game a bit less miserable for the stomped survivors.
It is also sad that bad manners are rampant among killers, because even casual killers themselves are suffering from it. I had a Billy apologizing in postgame chat for playing killer, as if this messy situation was his fault ? And a beginner Ghostface feeling guilty for camping his second hook of the game during the collapse, thus letting the survivor be rescued only to get insulted by her afterwards... (We other survivors roasted her at that, the guy was sweet and obviously new, he didn't do anything wrong and she was just ungrateful)
4 -
The survivor can try to wait out the slug game if they want to, but they are being just as stubborn and try hard as the killer.
0 -
I wholeheartedly disagree but however much I disagree on the "just as stubborn tryhard" argument I guess that's subjective. What's however not subjective is that waiting out a four minute bleed out timer is dragging out the game beyond a reasonable amount of time just as much as the slug game. The cause of this unreasonable amount of extra time is the same: a killer who refuses to pick up a downed survivor.
0 -
Slugging for the 4k needs to be looked at (specifically bleed out timer) The potential amount of time wasted when a killer does this is just stupid
4 -
People who say this are so dumb. If a “survivor main” is able to just hop on killer and 4k most matches, it’s proving the point that it’s plain ez, doesn’t matter how they play.
1 -
Every time I do this the killer ends up working with the survivor to kill me.

@_@

I agree. Though, to be honest, just as with camping it's difficult to tell when the line between "acceptable" and "excessive" is crossed. If a killer secures a kill toward end game by hard camping the hook that's perfectly valid, imo. So is slugging if survivors swarm the killer to body block, take hits, sabo, flashlight save or whatever. So is also if a killer has a good idea of where the survivor is and leaves a downed survivor as a slug for a while. Personally I'm not a fan of being hellbent on a 4K in general - but opinions on that one differ and everyone is entitled to set their own goals. - But this kind of slugging is... well, crossing a line. Imo.

For normal killers like us, the rational response to this update would be to not sweat for the 4th survivor unless that last guy deserved it(in which case you give hatch to the 3rd guy for their time)
But it seems like we are a minority, and none of us deserve nice things I suppose
4 -
The last survivor is waiting out the 4 minute timer too. The last survivor could just walk up to the slugged survivor, if they wanted the game to end earlier. Both people are equally at fault. The killer isn’t entitled to the last survivor, and the last survivor isn’t entitled to a hatch attempt.
3 -
This isn't logical. You're telling a survivor to ignore their objective and just give up. Hooking the second last survivor does not prevent the killer from achieving their objective.
3 -
Actually in fact it does depending on how you define your objective.
If the killers objective is to kill all 4 survivors slugging for the 4k is part of that objective to prevent a hatch escape.
The example frome the survivor side is also grey because the proper objective is to try to get everyone out but in that situation the survivor is changing the objective to just getting themself out instead of trying to help their teammate.
3 -
... and then you just expect them to stand there waiting for the killer and get downed? No. Or at least I hope so. - And then we have exactly the scenario I was describing in the very beginning. But I have a strong sense we fundamentally disagree on what is "normal/healthy gameplay" here. So I would suggest to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
1 -
And people are telling a killer to ignore their objective and end the game earlier. The killer's objective is to kill as many survivors as possible, and slugging for the 4k is fulfilling the killer's objective.
3 -
I rarely slug, but if I do while going after the final survivor, I usually let the slugee get hatch as an apology lol
0 -
I almost never slug for the 4K unless the fourth person is basically within arm’s reach. Otherwise I just hook the third and move on. I don’t really care about getting a 4K vs a 3K, since it’s a dice roll about who gets to the hatch first anyway.

I had a team mate d/c, next survivor killed themselves on the first hook, and the Killer (Wraith) slugged the other survivor.
I'm just like, dude. Why? Why not farm a bit ffs? We all got screwed (Killer included). And he just cloaked and waited by the slug. As if I can't hear congested Pug noises and see his squiggle (also, my team mate was indicated 'no' as well. Bless that Kate). But he just camped her. When she finally bled out, of course the hatch spawned somewhere close to him and he slammed it shut. When he finally caught up with me, he slugged me, and proceeded to ring his bell constantly for the entire bleed out timer. Probably hoping I would disconnect.
I can't wait until school is back in.
1 -
Bring Unbreakable, or even Boon: Exponential. Problem solved.
1 -
It's not ignoring the objective, but whatever. It's clear you're just biased so I can just disregard your opinion
0 -
sadly no. It's already bold to assume UB or Expo are still in the game at that point - but as I mentioned before: it just resets the two survivors to the point where they became the last two left.
2 -
All it takes is one survivor to stand on top of the hatch waiting for the killer to come by so they can tbag him to never hook the second-to-last survivor ever again.
3 -
They don't want to give the survivors a free escape.
3 -
There's a difference between "giving hatch" and "hatch spawning". Even if it's a 1v1 for hatch between the killer and the last survivor the killer is at an advantage due to faster movement speed & no need to be careful about moving around. This last 1v1 is far from "a free escape".
4 -
Yeah. Survivors are perfectly happy to extend the game an extra 5-10 minutes, waiting for the killer to show up to the hatch, just so the survivor can taunt the killer and jump in the hatch.
And if it's the end of the game, and the killer is next to a hooked survivor, and the other 3 survivors could easily escape out a gate, the survivors are perfectly happy to extend the game an extra 5-10 minutes to sweat for the 0k.
5 -
It's just you. Played about 60 games of survivor thus far, and while - yes - some slugging happens, the 'slug everyone to find the last person for the 4k' has happened a handful of times, excluding the 'slug everyone with Knockout from the start' folks, of which I've seen 5.
I think there's an element of confirmation bias going on here - people go in expecting killers being mean, and so whatever the killer does is interpreted as them being mean.
1 -
Blame BHVR on this, it's obvious design flaw and all on developer's end.
Considering the fact killers can deny hatch spawn, giving hatch spawn itself is free escape.
There is no difference between giving hatches and spawning hatches, because both can't happen without killers intentionally doing so.
Remember, survivors can: finish gen, if that fails, find the hatch, and if that fails again, open the gates to escape.
0 -
I always slugged for 4k before the patch because some survivor was gonna tbag hatch then spam ggez in end game chat. Survivors did it to themselves.
5 -
Idea: Make unbreakable basekit. Crazy, right?
0 -
But why does hatch even exist? Why does it spawn to even give a survivor a chance to escape? That's the free-ness of it. Plus, killer might move faster but survivors can vacuum into the hatch even as they're getting downed, whereas the killer has to be right on top of it. In my experience it seemingly always spawns the direction the survivor's running, but never spawns on top of me, the killer. And even if you close the hatch, the exits are now powered for free. Killers just can't catch a break, by design.
2 -
What about the free-ness of getting full kill credit for never hooking a Survivor during EGC? If that Survivor doesn't locate the Hatch in time and depending on The Killer, perks, and RNG of doors, that kill is a gift. The Killer does not need to chase and hook to get a kill. They become gate guardians.
1 -
EGC kill doesn't happen unless survivors intentionally give it to killers, pretty similar to hatches eh?
2 -
To add to that, similiarily to "killers slugging to deny hatch", survivors are also "99ing gates to deny the EGC". Yet the former is frowned upon while latter is totally acccepted by everyone.
4 -
50+ matches where the killer slugged for the 4k, huh? That's an interesting statistic, since it implies you lived/spectated long enough every single match, every single game, for 50+ games, to see the killer do this. WoW!
There is nothing that was done to make anyone do this any more regularly than before. You know, I would often give the last survivor the hatch all the time when I played killer. I would get up, get a drink, come back. Sometimes I would just kick some walls or whatever. I would come back to a survivor doing a gen then getting in the hatch, I would find them waiting minutes just to teabag in some "gotcha" moment. And this happened all the time, all the time. I didn't really care because to me it was funny someone could be so dumb, but.. if that happened so often to me.. do you think it might make someone annoyed an slug for a 4k?
2 -
Slugging for 4K is about the same mentality as waiting at the exit gate to teabag the killer.
I don't get it or why anyone would waste that time.
Just race them to the hatch, it's in the killers favour anyway.
3 -
Don't blame players, blame the game and the devs. BHVR created hatch mechanic in a way it can be countered only by slugging. There is nothing wrong to want 100% of your victory and not 90%.

I'm doing a thing where I keep track of soloQ matches atm. So yes, I do wait until the end to know the outcome & the killer perks and add ons. In between I play swf as well, naturally I stay as well. - At some point I noticed myself just going "ah yes of course" and when in swf the others had the same reaction. I also remember it used to be different: common but not just be a given. I wanted to know if it was just my personal experience or more common observation. Hence this thread.

Its exactly what should happen. If a team throws themselves to the killer to prevent them from sacrificing 1 guy, the team should lose.
Except of course they are smart about it and just take 1 hit, get right out of there, heal and continue what they were doing. That should win pretty much every time. But we both know that wasnt your team mates.
