Question about reporting incl. crossplay AND my experience!

INTRO

I think we can all agree that DBD has the most stupid reporting system of any big game (atleast top 20 viewed twitch games).

I have seen Otz report someone he did:

  1. Ingame report
  2. openes steam
  3. searched for true steam ID, because it was modified
  4. wrote a ticket to bhvr
  5. gave video and steam ID as reference

Pretty sure 99% of use are not streaming so we dont record our games...

QUESTION

If I see someone hacking (like I saw the last few days) who are from EPIC/Microsoft Store I dont see their steam ID or EPIC Id or anything, so it means ONLY the ingame report is left.

My Question: Is it enough to report ingame?

ANSWER and My experience

No. It does nothing. I saved account data of steam users who really hacked, and I mean not "i think the had WH" NO! I mean gens popped at once, the person would fly or people who exploited bugs like climbing up stuff my melee killer cant get to and the tbag.

None of these accounts I saved are banned jet. If you ever wondered if it does something: its not working. I AM THE PROOF! I dont care if a mod or a dev would come here and tell "well it actually works...blablabla" no it doesn't! This people are not banned.

And as you can see people who cheat from Epic or Windows store are even impossible to report via ticket because they can just change their name, that makes them unbannable by report.

What I do to play as little as possible vs cheater

1) dont play against a person with a vac ban. Even if they cheated in an other game they are cheaters! Cheaters will always cheat, they dont change! I know some cheaters personaly (not in dbd) and they may try to play normal but after a few bad games they would activate cheats to feel better again. Its like having a superpower but not being allowed to use it. If you have seen the series "the boys" superpowers corrupt people, and cheaters are very corrupted.

2) dont play against crossplay people who have dbd related and aggressive names. Those people created their account with DBD in mind and its purpose might be malicious. I would not risk it.

3) play against swfs. people would not often play together with cheaters because of two reasons: the fear they can be banned for cooperation and most important its difficult to pip and get BPs with a cheater in team. So funnily SWFs are often safer to go against (but I not impossible, I have an account saved who was a cheater in SWF, his friends were dening that they know him in post game evenough they are steam friends. he is not banned)

WHAT BHVR NEEDS to do

Please Hardware ban cheaters!

Pls give us replay button so we can send you a game file instead of a recording.

I hate cheaters but i will NOT record my games! never going to happen! If BHVR pays me money I will record my games but for free I will not do it.

At one point I just got bored and went AFK and listened to some music.

I don't understand how someone can be so pathetic to cheat, and even try to hide to for a bit

I play on Xbox and cannot even see things like Steam IDs or previous bans at all. Plus I believe they said they would have had to include saving game footage in the original coding, so it's too late now.

Pretty sure no one is satisfied with the current reporting system.

Had a cheating teammate the other day on RPD against a Nemesis.

It became a 4 v 1, but against the cheating survivor. They eventually DCed after being cornered and shamed (we kept pointing at them).

We spent the rest of the game playing friendly with the killer (there is nothing sweeter than a Nemesis hitting his own zombies to protect you). We all reported, via the ingame report system, but we had no video proof.

no. People can and do change. Also a VAC doesn’t tell what they were banned for (maybe ‚only‘ cosmetic/aesthetic cheats, maybe family shared ban, or whatever else is possible).

    and… it’s like having a superpower? Really? 🙄

also, we have plenty of people confirming that bans do happen. We don’t know if your reports have been filled in correctly. Why should we believe you on this and not others?

also also, if you report a crossplay player, you are supposed to enter the gamertag in the id field and mention in the description that it’s crossplay. Pretty sure even if they change their gamertag it could still be retraced with your in-game report.

Ive said it before they do the bans in waves and probably have people who look into how the cheats are being used so they can plug the holes. Sure it may not feel like reporting does anything atm but they definately dont want to loose their licenses which they will if they allow people to cheat in their game as the license holders wont want to be associated with the company. Hopefully the cheating dies slowly dies out but it has gotten a bit more common unfortunately my only guess is they need to update their cheat protection or use a better one as Easy Anticheat is clearly not functioning anymore. I still dunno how people cant sort through lines of memeory code to find a loophole to appy a cheat its so much work that could be spent doing more productive things rather than cheating in a videogame. I guess its some sort of challenge or something.

why are you so aggressive and why are you mocking me? I dont hink I deserve such treatment by you.

I told everything in my post, everything I done and everything that happened to me. Why would I come here to lie? I am not posting those peoples data and I did not record any proof of what they did (only some screenshots that bhvr will not accept for reasons). SO I do not understand your aggressive tone and accusations of me lying.

Why are you even defending this system? It is absolutly bad! And cheaters dont change! There are some individuals that may have changed, but cheaters in general have communites and they dont change out of the blue. Watch the video from "sparkles" called "RICH Hacker explains why Valve never BAN him... (CS:GO)" or other similar youtube videos and try to understand their mindset.

people who invent cheats sell them. its a job for them and as far as I saw in a youtube video regarding COD its very lucrative. The people I reported and saved are reported for over 2 years! I got it saved in email as a draft and never looked it up, but I got into DBD since this patch and then remembered about them and from over 10 names only 2 are banned eventhough all people I saved used cheats or exploits that cant be unseen, if I recoreded it it would be a 100% proof. So I understand from it that those 2 people who got banned got it for sure not because of me but because someone reported them with a video proof to back it up.

how am I aggressive at all? (If anything, you act a little aggressive towards BHVR - which is kinda understandable and I don’t blame you for it)

and the only thing that would count as mocking would possibly be the eye roll smiley? Which… is fitting as you were acting like superpowers are an actual thing and comparable to cheating in a videogame.

i didnt want to accuse you of outright lying. But you tried to make out your experience as the one and only truth out there. So you… didn’t record anything of the cheating? Then yeah no bans will happen as video evidence is required. You didn’t need to save those accounts to look out if they get banned as BHVR themselves already tells you that they won’t ban without evidence. Which is at least understandable by the many false accusations.

i don’t defend it either. I am just telling how it works. In an objective way.

i have given my feedback on how bad I think it is multiple times, here on the forums and directly to support.

and I never said all cheaters are changing. I said it’s possible for someone who cheated to change. And it’s possible to get VAC bans for not even cheating yourself either.

Then you did NOT read everything I wrote at all!

First: cheating in a video game is like getting superpowers IN THE game, "superpowers = might" in this context. People who experience might dont love to let go of it and the superpower quote was a reference to the series I also called out.

Second: I reported them ingame and now you say me I need evidance so they can ban them! My question in the forum (which you dint read I guess) was does it even do anything to report people inside the game only!!! And I added that I cant report people from crossplay in any other way then this anyway! So as you just told yourself ingame reporting is useless, just as I said! I reported 100% cheater and exploiter and they are not banned by the ingame report.

So I dont know what your point is, but you are just trying to explain me something I explained everyone else already!

and yes you mocked me with this emote and my comparisson even though it was you who did not understand it, I never spoke about IRL superpowers.

The in-game reports are mandatory for any kind of offense, however it's not enough for issues like cheating, as you need to prove the cheating was happening (otherwise you can imagine how many people would get banned just because someone who has little game knowledge mistakes a perk effect for a cheat and report them).

I'm not sure why you think you cannot report from crossplay, the form you have to fill is the same for everyone: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000942011 and since you are from a different platform, only the gametag is necessary to identify them.

    dear rizzo,

Literally right now while writing in here I qued for a killer game for 7min and when I got in the gens popped in the first second and the guy escaped! He played with an other person together because this other guy even though he did not seem to cheat himself got max amount of BP eventhough he himself was for less then 1min in the game and I did not chase him for 10k bp!!!

I reported them ingame and I did not record it in video! THey will not be banned? right?

You DO understand who dumb this is right? My laptop is barrely strongth enough to run the game itself, I can not record the game! And I dont want to spend so much time with reporting cheaters anyway!

  • Rizzo

No one is asking you to record the entire match.

Do you have an Nvidia graphic card?

Nvidia has a built-in replay system, if you set it up you can record the last minutes or whatever you decide in the settings by just pressing a button.

You have to understand that proof is needed to take action, otherwise a lot of players would get banned literally for nothing, just because someone didn't like them or didn't understand a game mechanic or perk.

in csgo I dont need proof! I have the account of this person, of the names he have used in the past says "anti cheat is working well", thats not enough? he is moking everyone!!! and he is even from steam and his steam url changes all the time (i grapped his ID64).

I dont have such feature activated because I need to save resources to run the game, so what else can you suggest me to do? Am I unable to get someone banned because I am not wealthy or egocentric enough to record everything i do?

The report system needs change! And this change is for most people here above having new DLCs!

I'm not sure what wealth and egocentrism have to do with this problem.

I don't think anyone in here has said the system is perfect or couldn't be improved, however this is how the system is at the moment and we are not going to start banning people without proof just because the system is clunkier than we'd like it to be.

Recording softwares like OBS are free and don't have a huge impact on performances, especially if you start them just to record for a couple of minutes.

sorry, I re-read your op and this is not how you wrote it. The comparison is faulty and the series is also not really great to describe actual human behavior, as it’s intentionally brutal etc.

and you were telling me I was being aggressive when nothing i wrote indicated it while you are throwing around with exclamation marks etc.

also you were already describing the correct way to report (by Otz‘ example), you really didn’t make it clear that all your reports were only done with only in-game reports. It was one question in the middle of your post. And yes, they don’t do anything in this case.

in-game reports are only enough without additional report tickets when it’s about chat harassment, as the chat log will be saved with the in-game report automatically btw. For pretty much all other reportable offenses, evidence is necessary and that can only be provided via support tickets.

You can report console and Epic players through Support. You just need to give the platform and name. If you don't know the platform for sure, you can google their names, usually it pops up. A lot of Xbox players have #1234 numbers, it's in their names, so you can tell if it's an Xbox player if they have these numbers. There are Xbox players that don't have these numbers, but a lot do

I don't record all my games either but I have replays on all the time, so if something does happen, i just click on alt + F10 and it saved my last 20 min.

Also, in my experience, reported players do get banned.
