Iron Will Nerf as a Bill/Jeff main
So I ran perma Iron Will on both Jeff and Bill because we know those boys are LOUD. And with only 200 hours in the game I'm still pretty crap at looping, I'm just now starting to grasp tiles. So this nerf to Iron Will really hit me hard because I really relied on juke/hides in order to get out of a chase. It was literally the ONLY way I could make it out of a run--and so many times during a match I'm injured, fresh off hook, and don't have time to run away before the killer gets to the area--so my only option was to HIDE.
Like I see lots of people complaining about "oh well survivors can just hide in the corner of the map entirely" no, they can't? If a survivor goes too long without doing anything, they get crows. I've had games where I got crowd because it just took me THAT long to get to a gen, and I had to stealth to one or risk just walking out in the open in front of the killer.
75% reduction isn't worth it, because even without the screams and grunts characters like Jeff huff and puff, not to mention killers can still hear footsteps, grass, breathing--and how many horror movies have you seen the survivor just HOLDING their breath, hiding in terror, as the killer is INCHES away, looking for them. Thats a moment of this game i LIVED, the THRILL of "oh god they're gonna find me--" and now its just a game of marco polo. Except polo has his eyes wide open, and a gun.
I feel like they're taking away the variety of play styles in the game and just forcing everyone to play one specific way and I'm not a fan. I love this game but this was just a huge bummer to me.

They are looking at normalizing survivor audio across the board so certain survivors aren't significantly louder than others/others aren't as silent.
5 -
Unfortunately this will probably make some survivors sound wrong
0 -
I mean yeah those boys are loud but you understand that completely being silent during chase was busted af right?
12 -
You were never completely silent during chases. You still hear footsteps, breathing, vaults--like the ONLY thing you dont hear is "OOOOOH AH.... nnnnnn!....OOOOHHH" There are dozens of different noises in this game to let you know a survivor is nearby. There were already perks in game to counter Iron Will like Whispers and Stridor. You also have scratch marks to literally HIGHLIGHT where we were, Not to mention all the aura perks killers already have to literally just SEE the survivor's outline almost at all times. I'm All Ears is a great perk to just 100% negate ANY stealth like QQ, Lithe, and Iron Will.
Iron Will was LITERALLY you're ONLY shot at being able to HIDE while injured. Not all of us are good at looping and so our only choice is to hide--now it's completely gone.

I think the characters are supposed to make breathing noises, or the huffing and puffing, even when Iron Will reduced the pain grunting noise by 100%, but it made all the noises silent instead when it wasn't supposed to. The 75% reduction at least fixes that while making the grunts of pain mostly hard to hear.
2 -
While I understand that some characters are louder than others, what I am reading is that you overly relied on this perk.
3 -
this will make it even worse and the game will become even crappier for survivors if they increase the volume of some survivors, some of the moaning is really bad and annoying. I honestly ran IW sometimes to get rid of it and if I faced a plague I simply kept healing on fountains not to hear the puking...

Stridor didnt counter IW in a long time and apart from foot steps, you didnt really get anything. Sometimes IW bugged out and you didnt get even that. I understand that it was a crutch for looping but it was busted beyond belief. Sound is more important than sight sometimes in chase and just taking away that part completely is beyond busted.
75% is more in line with what it should be doing anyway. I hope they revert the nerf on being disabled when exhausted though. I get what they mean, they basically count IW as an exhaustion perk because its basically as strong as one but its probably fine at 75%.

Okay if I, a baby bronze killer, can find survivors during a chase who run Iron Will, I have NO CLUE ######### is going on with everyone else. If youre in a chase and your prey just suddenly VANISHES--they didn't. They're hiding. Taking like a 2 second look around and you will physically FEEL your character run into theirs. How does anyone on earth think this perk is broken. I hardly even saw it in my killer games, and when I did see it, it didn't do anything for someone in chase--because I can literally see them. Being quiet wasn't gonna hide them.
1 -
Bigger survivors should make less noise. It would be fair to either you pick Feng/Nea who are harder to see, but easier to track. Or Jeff,Ash who are easier to be found, but harder to track. Should not be much different. Like only 30% lower volume than Feng/Nea

Yes, I relied on it to HIDE. Because not everyone has grinded 2000 hours into this game to god loop. If I'm fresh off of a hook and I dont have time to run a reasonable distance away from a hook, your only chance was to hide. If youre yodeling from a bush the killer is gonna find you instantly. Iron Will made it possible for a wider choice of evasion, and the fact that it can't even be used while Exhausted? There's literally 0 reason to even consider running this perk. It's become completely useless. For the year I've been playing this game Killer Mains havent shut up about DS and Dead Heard, this is the FIRST im hearing of "over powered iron will"

Thats nice man but you are thinking of what happens when you injure some one during a chase. Things become very obnoxious when they are already injured and you have no idea where they are. Again, noise is a big component of this game, sometimes as important as sight if not more. You cant just take it away with 1 perk slot, that was beyond busted mate.
Just let the perk go, there is a reason it got the nerf hammer. Just removing a big part of the game from the equation... lul

Jeff has a lot going against him, he's the tallest survivor I think and he sounds like hes having an asthma attack if you run for more than like 20 seconds. I've played other characters and they all have this gentle pant and Jeff/Bill are like "Oooof! Whuhh. Hooo! Huahh. Hhaaa." Which Iron Will doesn't even negate, it was literally only inquired noises--characters are still plenty loud when uninjured.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. There are 4 other sources of sound survivors make! Breathing, footsteps, vaulting, grass, bush--the ONLY sound you aren't hearing is "AHHH!!!!!!" Even if they're not moving in a bush, you will still have collision with a survivor near by. And on top of that, you dont have to play hide and seen with a survivor--if you cant find them, move on. its like a survivor looping you endlessly in a chase--you can just disengage. the survivor will come out of hiding--its literally just another mind game. make them think you left, then double back and i promise you you'll catch a survivor standing up from a bush or slightly standing out to the side from behind a rock/tree.

Survivors has only 2 skeleton rigging for 2 genders. All males have the same height, so do females. Its just Jeff is thicker than others.
0 -
Iron Will has always been overpowered. Lots of people hated it, myself included. Scott Jund did a whole video on it ages ago. It was beyond broken and deserved to get pulverized.
3 -
I expect Ace and Kate be much louder while others barely changed. They should just make the loudest survivors a bit more silent instead of messing with all of them cause I have a very bad feeling about it
1 -
What im talking about is pretty clear. It became very obnoxious to find an injured person sitting on a gen when they had IW. You can of course just leave but then you completely wasted however many seconds getting to that gen and didnt even defend it. Just leave is not really an option and a standing still survivor with IW basically makes no sound.
Again man im not going to argue with you whether old IW was busted or not. It was busted beyond belief. Thats clear to me but if its not to you, fine, who cares.

This forum is filled with Killer mains. So yanno...lol.
As a fellow Bill main, and I mean, I LOVE his chain smoker cough, he is pretty loud with it LOL. I ran iron Will a lot before the patch because Bill loves his Lucky Strikes.
But yeah- they purposely obliterated Iron Will. It's useless now. Solo Q is depression. Idk what to say, man.
I mean we can enjoy Bill's Christmas sweater. That's what they left us with. Cosmetics! Even tho Bill has next to none.
Hey, I'm sure Feng will have a new hat or 7 soon.

Agreed, alot of them are fine. and with hiding being especially important right now i would like them not to raise any of the voices
1 -
Ive got good news for you off the record does 100 % pain sound reducton for 80 sec after an unhook it sounds like the perfect perk for you.
3 -
I believe Iron Will deserved the nerf, but disagree with how it was done, exhaustion is a bit overkill.
I think it would be nice if Iron Will reduced the distance a killer could hear an injured survivor, similar to technician and working on gens. Or if it also reduced the audio of uninjured survivors.

If this forum is filled with Killer mains, why are there so many threads about how this game is ruined because of this killer sided patch?
2 -
Don't forget your sound is muffled a bit when you crouch or sit in a locker so Iron will isn't really as dead as people say it is.
Bit the bullet with a medkit is also amazing if you like the houdini playstyle

Pre-nerf Iron Will did actually make your breathing completely disappear, and some characters just lost their footsteps as well, so they were effectively completely silent.
4 -
I think the IW nerf hurts Jane the most 😆
0 -
The sound reduction on the new version of Iron Will is actually still effective. I was watching a survivor streamed game just last night for example where they were running Iron Will and intentionally hiding in bushes while injured while killers just walked right past them.
2 -
New Iron Will has saved my David a few times. It is situational but effective. Especially if you do not run exhaustion perks.
1 -
So completely trashing the perk was fine? They could have just fixed the perk by allowing breathing sounds and everything would have been fine. Now they just killed another way of gameplay completely.
0 -
That's effectively what reducing the sound of injured pains by 75% accomplishes.
0 -
The exhausted part is too much, rest is fine.
0 -
Yes.
Unfortunately, they also showed us the roadmap and said what's in there is what we're getting this year.
So, the normalized audio is coming
in 2027soon™.1 -
I doubt most of the people saying it's literally useless have even tried it post-patch.
3 -
Jeff is surprisingly loud. When playing killer he's always easy to find as after taking a hit he sounds like a wounded bear. Bill's hacking is certainly in the #2 spot. Jane....well....Jane's something else. Still waiting for her head-to-toe black latex sado suit cosmetic.
Slot Off the Record and Lucky Break, if you're having trouble hiding.
Bite the Bullet is also one to consider if you make a lot of noise while healing or you keep running into loud teammates to heal. You can heal yourself or someone else right beside a killer and they'd not know you're there. It's great when combined with Resurgence, Self-Care, or Botany Knowledge.
Calm Spirit is good if you run into Doctor killers frequently, or killers running perks that make you scream (Infectious Fright, Iron Maiden, etc.).
Parental Guidance is situational, but if you get good at landing pallet/flashlight stuns, the perk will let you get some decent distance silently w/no ground markings.
You can throw in Urban Evasion to be extra sneaky. You can move around while crouched faster than normal walking speed. On maps like Grave of Glenvale, Red Forest, Backwater Swamp, Coldwind Farm, and the like, you can move around to most places on the map effectively invisible. Just don't wear any bright/neon cosmetics or trinkets. Completely defeats it.

you don't have to play hide and seek with a killer--If you can't use iron will, move on.
