One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: The Behavior Interactive Story
It seems they've done it again with this new developer update! There's a bit so I'll just go down the list.
Thanatophobia: Wut?! Just what? Lol
This change makes very little sense. The problem with Thanatophobia prior to the last update was that it was only really useful on a couple of killers, and was really ran any other time. So it was obvious when they buffed it that it looked like they wanted it to see more usage. It still wasn't great on every other killer, but it was worth running with dedicated builds. Which lead to interesting and different builds. However, the buff they gave it just made it even more powerful on those killers, so much maybe it was over performing a bit. But instead of reverting it back to it's previous state, they decided to completely gut it for every killer.
Since healing speed and effeciency still hasn't been addressed, you could have a single person heal to render this perk useless, even against legion, and it wouldn't be hard to do. With plague you just cleanse and insta heal to make this perk useless on her. Since when only 3 people are injured, you're only getting a 6% speed penalty (laughs in resilience). Not to mention that once one person is dead you're stuck at 6% or less.
I feel like this just destroyed any usefulness this might have had as a perk, and isn't really worth it now on anybody. So they effectively went from wanting to see the perk more, to never wanting to see it again.
Mettle of Man: I'm not a huge fan of this perk as it is, not because I think it's too strong or too weak, just that I don't really see the point when compared to other perks. This change doesn't really alter that opinion at all, so it's just kinda meh for me.
Pain Resonance: I couldn't help but to laugh at this one as it makes no sense. You had an issue with this perk and how it interacted with merciless storm. But instead of fixing that... You decide to revert the changes made previously to bring back the previous meta? That simple makes no sense. Instead of going forward you just go back?
The combo of PR and DMS was strong previously because it not only regressed the generator, but also kept them from hopping back on it and showing you the location of a generator currently being worked on, which meant you already found another survivor after hooking someone.
The notification itself was never the strong part of PR. It was the combination with DMS. Even with the slight Nerf DMS, I definitely see this combo coming right back into the meta. It's pretty much just bringing back the previous killer meta, because that combo was just so much stronger than everything that it wasn't worth running anything else.
Seems completely pointless to me.
Clown: Yay! Although he really needed those shadow buffs 😂
Glyphs: There's Orange glyphs???
Incentives: This one kinda irks me, and is really the main reason why I, along with a lot of other players haven't played the past couple of weeks.
When the original changes were announced for the new prestige system, the prestige tax, the bonus BP removal from perks, and the incentives, I thought all of these features would go hand in hand, so it didn't seem so bad.
And I get that sometimes it can take time to fix things. But when you have so little BP being earned each match, queue times being long, forced prestiging with a prestige tax, and no perks to gain additional BP, as well as no incentives for bonus BP, it feels very unrewarding. And it's not worth wasting puddings or cakes. So now we have to wait weeks more for a patch to drop.
And with the game state being how it is with constant disconnects and hackers galore, and depipping still being a thing for some reason? It's not worth even trying to reach iri for the additional BP next month.
Overall something should've been given to players for sticking it out and continuing to play while they wait over a month for something that should've been released with the perk BP removal. Even something like 25-50% would've been fine. Instead they get nothing for being loyal players...
Overall I just think that none of these changes really make sense and contradict the idea of the previous patch.
