why should i not dc if im just going to be left on hook
srsly people just going into lockers.. hovering the area not doing anything. do people not know how to unhook anymore?? 2/3 games just left on hook even though I UNHOOKED majority of the time... i cant believe I sat there for two games watching the bar slowly progress down while everybody is just standing :// I WAS RUNNING KINDRED & still soloQ has no idea what to do.
do people really care so much for their MMR they"re not willing to trade or just unhook in general??

I recently played a match without Kindred and was reminded how hard it is sometimes to make good decisions with little info on the rest of the team. You can never know why those survivors acted the way they did. I would say even with Kindred on I get ignored sometimes.
It is the roll of the dice of the solo queue.
I personally try to buy them as much time as possible as it benefits me with extra points and match time.

I sympathize with low mmr hell, but to your headers question this is my answer.
Outside of the penalty a few things to take into consideration is the killers playstyle not knowing your teams intentions and what if the roles were reversed.
If the killer is camping you. Punish them for doing it for as long as you can by staying on hook. If you give up you are rewarding that playstyle justifying it to the killer that it was the right move.
Some top players will wait to get as much time out of your hook timer to do gens. Punishing cautious killers. I'll do this and make sure I have just enough time to save before the next stage. If you assume because you arnt being saved immediately that they arnt coming then give up. They may not come at all. Some games if someone gives up too early i will not go for save because they obviously want out of the game. In short it will always benefit you to assume the best. In the worst case scenario just move on to the next game.
Last if roles were reversed and someone on hook gives up its of a massive benefit to the killer and it screws over the team. So now because that person gave up a game that could have some escape now is a 4k.
The only time I will give up is if my team is actively sandbagging me. Then obviously its pointless to help them. I will only dc if I'm being held hostage. no other scenario warrants it

I mean, I wouldn’t 100% of the time assume the worst when seeing teammates go into lockers. Unless they go in and never come back out haha
I recently started running Inner Healing instead of bringing a medkit. Especially since I know a majority of the typical totem spawns in maps. Also in solo-q, I’ll continue on a gen until I know I’ll get you off the hook shortly before you hit stage 2. There is no need to run to you the literal second you get hooked.
please don’t dc in my matches. I do gens and save my teammates… and go into lockers for 8 seconds when I’m injured haha. For real though. Don’t DC in my matches. I Have actually been getting salty after this big game rework with all the people afk’ing and DC’ing. It’s nonstop.

I mean morality of leaving games aside DCing if you are left on hook is just silly
You can just attempt to unhook and fail 2 skillschecks and don't have to face a penalty+lose all your bp

I don't but I wouldn't blame someone if they did, especially if the other survivors were just standing around. I accidentally forgot a team mate was hooked once, it was ages ago but it was the first time I'd experienced Hex: Huntress Lullaby at 5 tokens, and the survivor was using Calm Spirit. I was so focused on watching for the skill checks since the warning noise was absent, that I missed the survivor being hooked (no scream didnt help) and subsequently dying.

the good news is that during the anniversary stream they talked about a fix for the low mmr hell situation with your effort meaning more during the match. Who knows when that will come though.
