Self-care is almost unplayable perk
Only way to make it playable is to play full healing perks just to be able to heal yourself at decent speed (slower than CoH). How is Selfcare allowed to be trown into trash bin when CoH was allready 3x better? Please buff Self-care back to 50% or at least 45%.
It's killer perk now on tier 1,2 and probably 3 as well without any healing perk.

Agreed, it's extremely painful to use and is odd in that if self healing speeds were a problem self care was at the bottom of the tier list of healing yourself quickly(32 seconds) vs green medkits ~9. Even factoring in using self care for cheeky stuff like 99% resil and healing mid chase and the like. I think it should be reverted back to its 50% val.

Yeah. Its only use right now is either with Botany (but it still painfully slow) or with Bite the Bullet.

That was their goal for the rework. Make useful survivor perks useless.

I thought people in higher mmr were using it in combination with medkits for higher item efficiency?
I never understood the idea behind Self Care and Medkits having different healing rates, if one is problematic then so is the other. And if medkits aren't a problem then why is selfcare?

It's only even remotely good in a dedicated healing build but I will never run that because as soon as you go against Plague your entire build is useless. She's not common but she's not rare enough either.

They have different healing rates because Medkits are limited. Even the most cracked medkit eventually runs out of charges. Self care doesn't ever run out, so it is slower.
To be honest though I don't think either was a problem even before SC got nerfed.

That doesn't really matter if most games are over before you run out of medkit charges, they could just put a charge limit on selfcare.

The reason they nerfed it was because it was one of the most used perks according to BHVR, but when CoH is locked behind a paywall what do you expect new players and people that don't want to spend money one the game to use? It was a bad decision that just hurts new player which BHVR has said they could care less about new players, hence why soloq is a disaster right now.

I've actually been wondering since the update. Does the self-care nerf also affect CoH? CoH self-care speed was calculated by doing (1 + 0.5) * (1 - 0.5), wouldn't the new formula be (1 + 0.5) * 0.35? Which puts the healing speed at 0.525 charges/s which gives a self-heal speed of around 32 seconds?
I haven't been able to test the actual speed and I haven't heard anyone mention it.

A better option to Self Care and Botany Knowledge is Built to Last with a medkit with charge add ons. It would have to be a very long game or obsessively healing everyone against Legion before you run out of charges.
As an example say I bring an emergency med kit with a 16 charge and an 8 charge add-on. That's a total of approximately 118 charges or 7.375 health states before the med kit runs out. And, even including going into a locker, it saves time over Self Care and Botany Knowledge.

Imo the only problem with selfcare was the ability to make it not that slow by stacking healing perks, and yet now you basically HAVE to do that to make it worthwhile.
I still think coh is too strong though.
It’s not affected; in fact they actually changed coh’s description to clarify that it is at 50% speed.

Wrong! Self Care was the same time before as someone else healing you. Previously it was half time for someone else healing but it took the action economy of two people.
If you had a medkit OR you made some great checks self care was actually better in most circumstances. How? Well until 2021 great checks removed 2.4 seconds each for gens and heals. If you used Spine Chill it was common to get 2 or 3 great checks per heal. Every now and then it was possible to see 4 great skill checks on a heal. So potentially you could save 9.6 seconds on 32 seconds changing the heal economy down to 22.4 seconds.
Furthermore the old Spine Chill made medkits more efficient so they lasted a long time with self care. From version 1.0 until nerfed in 1.7 the med kit efficiency bonus was 100% from self care. After the nerf it was still a 20% efficiency bonus so you still could be healing very fast with a med kit many times per game.
Nerfing Self care is dumb but I think they didn't want people to stack it with the new Botany to be healing fast infinitely. In other words : because CoH and BK exist SC had to get nerfed.

Right because getting to 9k shards is so easy as a solo new player with the new killer buffs.
