Why is every single killer face camping at 5 gens now?
Simple question. Every single killer ive faced this week has face camped me or others in my game.
I wish this was hyperbole. But its drove me over the edge and ive uninstalled the game. And i dont think ill be coming back.
Weird thing is, i actually play killer more than survivor, so it seems im the last person left who just enjoys the game for hunting, downing and hooking instead of standing there staring at someone on the hook.
So legit question. What is the point in it? Is getting 11k BP while using cakes/BPS and ruining other peoples that important? Before the previous update, i noticed camping was getting more ramptant. I thought the update would make killers camp less. You really dont need to, at least i dont on the killers i play most (Nemesis, Freddy, Doctor, Plague). The update had made me far stronger and even if i dont get a 4k i feel like a threat now. But for the past week out of roughly 30 games i have seen killers face camp at least 28 of those games (at 4/5 gens still to be done might i add)
I dont care about camping end game, it has to be done sometimes. But at 4/5 gens left? Or when 3 gens pop but you still have a 3/4 gen easy patrol?
Im not even the one being camped 9/10 times. But it infuriates me that so many are doing this. 5 years on this game and i have never seen it in a worse state. I like playing with my friends, but out of our group of 14 only 3 play. Well, 2 now that im gone.
My rant aside, please, tell me, why do you need to face camp with 4/5 gens to go other than to be a complete asshat to others?

You're 100% exaggerating. You are not getting facecamped at 5 gens every game. Not even bothering to read the rest of your post
17 -
I haven't had one killer facecamp me or other survivors this week.
4 -
Literally the match I just played.
The Meg led the killer to me while I was in a deadzone, was close to basement so I got camped in basement. Post-game, I asked the killer why they camped me (was a genuine question) at 5 generators remaining, and they proceeded to make fun of me and mock me for "complaining" when I never complained.
8 -
I want your games... lol
7 -
And he never claimed that. So yeah, you havent even read the first sentence right, no wonder you don´t read the rest.
13 -
I really wish i was. I really wish i was.
I will admit i am extremely annoyed right now, but it its 100% true and no exaggerating. I am only counting games in which survs havent disconnected or killed themselves on first hook too, as that seems prevalant atm too.
3 -
Then congrats, you get to enjoy the game. Others however, do not. They just have idiots sitting there watching them face camp.
2 -
In my matches, it’s leather face players that facecamp from the start. This is why I try not to be the first person to be found.
1 -
Because when you give them longer gen times, they take advantage and Camp.
4 -
Because believe it or not a big crowd of Dbd players don't roam the forums or social media communities where game etiquette gets shared around a lot. You'd be surprised how many killers unironically prioritize facecamping and tunneling just to win. Or survivors who rely on staying hidden and going for hatch escapes. The issue isnt the players but the game design.
0 -
Aye im seeing that a lot. But the last 5 games today, 2 were a nurse (why camp with her?!?) one a plague. One oni and One Bubba. Every bubbah lately has insidious though.
1 -
Can't tell the caliber of survivors until damage is done. With good survivors there is little difference between 5 or 2 gens left.
0 -
What game etiquette? Whenever I go out of my way to avoid camping and tunneling, I get teabagged and ######### talked
0 -
No i get that, im not new, i know camping has been around for a very long time. Ive never noticed it as bad as it is now.
My rant aside, id still like it answered by people on here who do it or see no issue with it. I accept its a game strat tbh, but as a former killer main who played 1-2 killer games per day until now, i legit do not understand peoples mind sets to this.
The issue is as much the player as it is the design.
1 -
Indeed it is. Its a shame this isnt the case with me isnt it. I last posted here what, 1...2 years ago. Why would i bother coming back on here just to exaggerate?
3 -
Honestly it's so annoying and the tunnelling is ridiculous now as well
4 -
"But at 4/5 gens left?"
I assume every game is against the best 4 players in the world on voice coms. I won't give an inch at the start. Why? If you do you set yourself up for failure later because you played nice.
Play hard and control the game and you can ease up later.
1 -
It's the same reason why players in fighting games camp in a corner of the screen with projectiles. It's easy to pick up and inexperienced players fall for the antics and the camper ultimately wins
2 -
Simple explanation. You give people an inch and they will take a mile.
2 -
Even if you see survivors leaving the lobby being replaced by one other? That happens a lot with me. I play with one other on surv lately and 30-50% of the time someone will join and leave because they think we're all solo i assume. But that doesnt stop the killers. They still face camp.
I can understand your point because its happened to me a lot as killer. Having the 4 man swf on comms being utterly sweaty, clicking flashlights constantly and being annoying. But most arent like that, in my experience as killer anyway.
1 -
Turn your messages off and grow thicker skin I guess.
2 -
Tbh yeah you're right. Im just too stupid to think oh hey, this new patch will buff people and make them not need to camp.
I should have remembered people on here are mostly incels who need to feel good about 1 thing in their life for a split second before the misery sets in again.
1 -
The campers arent winning though. I run kindred so i know when to save and when not. And honestly, most of these games im escaping because of that. It doesnt mean its right, Its not enjoyable, its downright boring and its annoying for the poor guy who got downed first.
Most of these games im talking about the killer got 1/2 kills at most. Very rarely are they getting a 3-4 kill. I probably should have mentioned that. But thats why im wondering #########? Why is getting one and maybe two kills so vital to people who are obviously just out there to ruin peoples games.
2 -
Exaggerating wouldnt make me uninstall the game. Been playing for 5 years on and off and its been sat on my HDD that whole time until today.
You havent even read what im asking or the replies to some people. So ill just choose to ignore whatever you reply with. Like you should have done with me :)

No one is getting facecamped and/or tunneled every single game. It's a non-starter for a discussion. Maybe if it happens a few times in a row and you decide to use that as your entire sample, but that's not really being intellectually honest.
I've played a lot of survivor since the patch dropped (at least 200 matches, conservatively, probably more in the 300+ range), and was hard camped/tunneled or witnessed it in maybe 10% (that being generous) of those matches. Full on facecamping until dead? Maybe two or three times. Not any more or less than I saw before, really.
Not obviously that's my anecdotal experience and experiences vary, but the idea that people are out there getting camped/tunneled in all or even most of their games strains credulity.
When people say it is happening "all the time" one of two things is happening here, I think:
- People are just straight up lying/exaggerating for effect/attention
- People have very broad definitions of what camping and tunneling are
Now that's off my chest, when it is happening, why is it happening?
- Noob killers who feel the need cling to each potential kill because they have no confidence in being able to get others
- As mentioned above, those who don't engage with the community at large often don't realize it's considered poor form
- In the case of tunneling, it's obviously the most effective strategy and they don't know (or care) that it is frowned upon
But in a few weeks camping (especially basement camping) is gonna take a major hit, so if you feel like a constant victim of it, take heart.
2 -
It matters not. Tunneling is the survivor strategy and the killer strategy too.
If you want to win you tunnel your objective.
0 -
Tunnelling is not the issue for me. Its the face camping. Have you read what ive said? The title even states it
0 -
Right let me be clearer. I never stated i was getting face camped/tunnelled every single game. I do state this in my post. But im seeing it every single game now. Thus it is a starter for discussion, and as you have chosen to discus it, you also must think its a topic for discussion.
But if you have only witnessed it 10% of the time, then you must be very very lucky, or for some reason im being put into an MMR rating with endless campers.
Once again, this is not happening to ME in every game. But i am witnessing it, EVERY GAME where no one has dc'd barring some exceptions. And even people being camped on hook are disconnecting.
My definition of camping, or in my case face camping, is when the killer is standing a few yards from the hook and not moving. Camping is patrolling a small area around the hook.
In response to why
1 - Some of these killers had 2-4k hours on the game. Nurses that could down people extremely easily are an example from tonight.
2 - I agree, except the majority are killers with 2-4k hours as stated above. If i looked at their steam profile and saw under 300 hours, i wouldnt care. But these are experienced players. I myself have 2.5k hours on the game.
3 - I dont care about tunnelling, it happens and i am good enough to loop long enough for another 1-2-3 gens to get done and/or take hits and go down for the person being tunnelled.
Yes ive heard about the new perk coming out but that requires others to run it. Unless there is something else i havent heard of?
1 -
They probably read about how the next update kills camping so they want to take advantage of it while they still can
1 -
It's not exagerration it's a plague, I play mostly killer because 7/10 games are huntress/nurses "proxy" camping, people are incredibly boring/unoriginal, they're all very proud too like they invented starstruck nurse or something, we've never seen that before
4 -
Thankfully we're receiving a new anti camp perk in the next chapter. It's licensed tho so you have to pay $12 to get it.
0 -
In the last few days i've played i honestly can't say i've come across many, if any, face campers.. a few proxy campers here and there, but not really at 4/5 gens. Maybe it's the mmr tier (if they exist) you're in, i'd say i'm on a pretty low one, i lose far more than i escape, but my games are fun, which is more important.

10 minute queues and desperate for a kill lmao.
1 -
Lmao someone's been reading someone's tweets.
And what would you like survivors to do? I swap gens if the killer comes near me in chase etc, what should I do in the mean time, killers cry if I try and go for body blocks or FL saves like anything else I do they complain about it.
4 -
Fair enough, but I don't even see facecamping in even a quarter of my games.
And yeah, I was referring to Reassurance, but I feel like it's going to have a high adoption rate. Yes, it's behind a paywall, but RE is massively popular and I think most are going to grab it, and because keeping a camping killer anchored to a hook for long periods of time is going to help the whole team, I think people will run it.

That killer was just toxic human being not because he facecamped but because the chat. As sometimes there is good reason why killers camp at 5 gens but this guy sounds just bad person.
0 -
Tunneling early on I can understand, but hard camping at 5 gens? What are some examples where that is strategic?
0 -
What does Otzdarva recommend you do? Follow that. :)
0 -
Well killer had bad match before because he played too nice and that's then easy way to win usually. Other situation when it's smart stragedy go use is that nearly gen is almost completed to quards that as well.
Some killers also just do it to camp second hook state and then tunnel the survivor out which usually secures the win. This is easier than tunnel same survivor multiple times.
0 -
BHVR allows it, players use it. You are asking people to nerf themselves and that never works realistically
0 -
Otz says if you feel like camping - camp.
Tunneling and face camping are basically parts of the same mechanic.
You tunnel by not letting them get far off the hook.
If you down someone next to a gen that is 80% finished you sure as heck want to camp them right next to that gen.
0 -
Ever since the killer buff the camping has Increased Idk why
0 -
Why does every single survivor tbag at the gate?
0 -
You can go from 5 gens left to 2 gens left really quickly. There's no reason not to try to win just because it's early game. I mean that's when gens are being knocked out the fastest.
0 -
Killer behavior is not required to be throttled by the number of gens left.

"Simple question. Every single killer ive faced this week has face camped me or others in my game."
This is literally copy/pasted from your first opening paragraph of your discussion. Anecdotal or not, people won't see you as genuine when you contradict yourself.
As for your question, some killers will just camp because its a reliable way to get at least one kill, even if it isn't a good way to get multiple kills. And if you're gonna camp at all, doing it straight away at 5 gens is the best time to do it, as it will usually punish a team that doesn't realise straight away that they need to rush gens.
Just keep running Kindred in the mean time, and Reassurance is coming soon, and while it is a band-aid, at least it is a strong band-aid.

Reassurance patiently waiting in the cut to go live:

You're either so unlucky that you should probably start playing the lotto (that luck is going to turn, hard) - or you're exaggerating.
I've had two, at the start. A Bubba and a Ghosty.
I see occasional others camping, but it's almost always EOGC.

Why are every single posts an exaggeration?
