a question for the players
why do we sit in the exit gate taunting the killer when we won? what does that achieve?

Pre nerf:
I just want to give the killer some more points dude, I'm not being toxic!!! ::dead hards out the gate as soon as killer gets within hitting range::

They just want to rub it in the killers face one last time. It's for their ego and nothing else.
I used to wait if the killer was close only to leave them an item so as to say gg but I figured most would rather I leave so I just leave now.

Some people just kind of like taunting the killer for no reason. I usually just go through the gate as soon as I get there unless someone needs healing for that extra BP, or if someone's on the hook and I need to save them

I only stay when it benefits me BP wise.
If I have a flashlight I'll stay for one last blind (especially if BPS are active.) Or if someone needs heals then I will. Other than that I pretty much always leave if everyone else is already there.

That's the summary of survivor's gameplay: to bully another player.
Just pay attention, the vast majority of survivors don't want to improve their gameplay, they don't want to face strong perks or strong killers. They don't play this pvp game to challenge theirself and be a better player, they just want to make the other side miserable to feed their ego.
It's easy and quick dopamine.

I like to say goodbye to killers I enjoyed playing with.
I don't make any gestures or taunting. I just wait for them to show up, look at them for a second then turn around and leave

Chase and escape BP
A final farewell, sometimes I'll leave a gift (drop item)
Most of the time, waiting to ensure everyone exits, if someone is still in the field. In the event I need to unhook 'em.
Some people stay waaay too long though
