List of specific totem spots that should probably be moved

I think Boons are mostly in a decent place at the moment with one small exception - there are a few specific totem spots in multi-level structures and maps that are a bit problematic because they cover an entire main area but in order to reach them to snuff them out the killer has to travel a very long path. So if they spend the time getting to the hard to reach spot to remove it it often becomes a losing proposition. Fortunately the solution is pretty simple, just move the totem to ground level near its current location so it’s a bit easier to reach. (Or remove it entirely maybe if there’s nowhere good to move it to, but I suspect there’s probably reasonable alternatives at ground level in all these cases.)

The main example that comes to mind is the totem spot(s) at the upper floor of Ironworks since getting to them takes a long circuitous path but it covers pretty much the whole center of the map. If that spot was moved to the ground floor of the building, say in a corner of the pipes or underneath the ramps outside, it would still cover a similar area but be a lot easier to reach if the killer feels the need to snuff it.

So I was thinking it might be useful to have a thread to make a list of the handful of such specific totem spawns that the devs should maybe consider moving to ground level. Off the top of my head

  • Ironworks second floor of the main building - move to ground floor of the main building either inside next to pipes or outside under the stairs
  • Springwood maps - move the totem in the lower level of the preschool of the to some corresponding spots on the ground floor of the building, probably in those side rooms so its less visible from the main path.
  • Dead Dawg Saloon - move the totem spot tucked in the dead end room on the second floor to the ground floor of the saloon. (This one also would help survivors when a Hex just happens to appear there and they may have no idea where to even look for it.)
  • Ormond - I can’t remember if there’s a totem spot on the second floor of the main building? But if there’s one up there it should probably be move to ground level.

There’s probably a few others I’m not thinking of at the moment, like maybe in Garden of Joy or Haddonfield or the farm maps, etc. Please feel free to post additional specific spots which you think should probably be moved to the ground floor (assuming you agree with my suggestion).

Or make it so Boons only affect their respective floor. Midwich is absolute hell

I can get behind this, those Boon spots are very powerful. The second floor in Erie of Crows as well, that spot is too OP.

I think it would be better to make boons only affect a single floor than to inadvertently nerf hexes along with them. Some of those are the best hex spots on their map, especially when you have derpy totems out in the open on the newest maps and we all know what our replacements would be.

Plucking second-story totems from maps like Badham and Thompson House still wouldn't solve the issue of boons being extremely powerful in two-floor maps, as every boon spot not in the corner of the map suddenly becomes very strong for all boons, not just CoH, and you can't really solve that by making the totems easier to find.

All totems should be a ground floor, having any sort of elevations makes boons too strong.

    Meatplan is an exception.

There is a difference though between multifloor maps like The Game and buildings like Ironworks in that The Game has a smaller level size and multiple ways up and down between floors plus generators on both floors. So the totem spots on it are actually not that hard to reach during normal patrols even if they’re above or below you. With Ironworks though the second floor totem is not just on another floor it’s also got a really long route to take to get to it plus there’s not any reason to even go up there at all other than that the totem is there. So a trip to snuff that Ironworks upper floor spot isn’t something you can do in the normal course of business, you have to make a special lenghty trip explicitly for it.
