Today I lost a pip when I played survivor and then I lost 1 when I played killer

AND WHEN I LOST AS KILLER IT SAID "THE ENTITY HUNGERS..."
WHEN DID THEY OUT THAT!?!!

You can depip. They never said you couldnt

Also the entity hungers is a new addition, and they did mention it. Just cause you specifically, probably ignoring everything they say, didnt hear it doesnt mean they didnt say it.

Like Aetherbytes said, depipping is not deranking.
Well technically, grades, not ranks, but degrading means something else entirely.
Anyways, to go up a grade, you need several pips. For example, to go from Iridescent II to Iridescent I, you need to get 5 pips. However, you cannot go back to Iridescent III if you already hit Iridescent II. However, you can go from Iridescent II with 4 of the 5 needed pips all the way back to 0 of the 5 needed pips.

But a few days ago I didn't lose a pip . While I already had 3 pips . That's the crazy thing

the crazy thing is that you can safety pip meaning you did just enough to not depip and just not enough to actually gain a pip, so you stay at the same amount of pips you had, a.k.a a safety pip

The crazy thing is that, at Iri grades as survivor, you can do gens, escape and still depip because there was an MMR mismatch and the Killer didn't Inflict enough harm for Altruism or chase you for Boldness because the Killer was too busy chasing a god looper in a strong tile.
Depips should go.

This. Depips are not necessary since grades are no longer used for matchmaking. If it just shows time played like devs have said then remove negative pips, only have safety and +1&2 pips. Getting negative pips when I finally have a good match makes me want to play less not more.

Exactly. Because of depips it is not only "time played" - it is still a skill indicator. But you don´t see it anymore. Which makes the depips even more unnecessary.

Or, alternatively, depip because a teammate gave up on the first down, resulting in a miserable game... Not suggesting that from experience, of course... :(

Depips are a system of stalling progress to artificially inflate their climb due to (rank/grades/whatever they want to rebrand them as) having no actual impact on anything other than how much BP you get as a reward at reset each month.
Now look at the prestige rework and the blatant issues in their new progression model and ask yourself why they would suddenly be nice to the end user about pips?

You can't go past down the grade you had, so if you were silver 1, you can't go back to silver 2, but you can lose pips in between silver 1 and 2
