Dead by daylight needs a rank mode and an quick play mode

BHVR should definitely add an rank mode and an quick play/unranked mode. It feels like every match of dbd is kinda sweaty, and I think that’s why a lot of ppl miss the old ranking system. I feel like this would encourage survivors and killers to use different builds instead of meta perks. And for killers and survivors who are more competitive or want a challenge could use the rank mode. This would definitely be healthy for survivors and killers because the game has been a little dry. I’m open to listening to everyone’s opinion so please give me your thoughts.

I do think there should be something done to make matchmaking more healthy (maybe an option to disable "fast vs relevant" matchmaking), and two modes would be a great idea.

However, there is no stopping cocky competitive players from going into the casual mode just to grief or have easy stomps... Though I guess there is no perfect solution, and that should not stop the devs from trying to make the game more healthy for casual players.

Rank will be extremely sweaty and unbalanced, because maps, addons, killers, perks are not balanced at all.

Quickplay will be chaos with DC all the time.

How would you prevent sweat lords in either role from dipping into the casuals and curbstomping?

What about SWF? If they're locked into ranked-only they'll never get a match as all killers (sweats, newbies, and everything in between) just go after the solos?

They have a bit of both going on right now and people don't like it

Prestige icons for Unranked (Quick Play)... And Grades (or Ranks) for Ranked -Cause that makes more sense-

Also It'll make the stat collection a bit better to make balancing a bit easier (IMO)

The sweat lords will do what they do... but if they go into Unranked then they won't get much rewards for playing... but we do need them so it's not all bad

Plus if they did make the split then MMR will play a bigger role in the game and that's kinda bad right now... but can be adjusted based on what they see... For Unranked you won't see it as obviously as Ranked

Also if they did do it then they can tighten up all of the MMR stuff

Yes it may split the playerbase but it'll recoverin the long run cause of the split... plus players can try out certain builds in Unranked gather information then take that into Ranked

Eh...it sounds like a good idea, but it..isn't.

    This is exactly what happened.

Starcraft 2 had a problem with pro players smurfing at lower ranks. So they made an 'unranked' queue and a 'ranked' queue, with separate MMRs.

All that happened was that it got so much easier to smurf - pro players would get their ranked MMR super high, and head over to unranked to crack some skulls when they wanted to unwind.

This got so bad that the only way for a less skilled player to get a chill match was, ironically, to play ranked.

    No, horrible idea.

Most people will play casual mode anyway and there are people who would tryhard it as well or play for them normaly while others would blame them for tryharding.

Game is no way near balanced for every killer and every Survivor and every map. Ranks = skill not really.

Also the que times would get worse.

    No.

Overwatch has "Competitive" and "Quick Play". Prior to dbd, I played a lot of Overwatch and quick play, which was intended to just be for casuals, was filled with smurfs who just wanted to practice before their "competitive" matches.

This created a problem where casual players couldn't enjoy the game in quick play, but they also couldn't enjoy the game in competitive due to the fact that to win in competitive, you had to use what was meta and know how to counter every strat and team comp, while also not making mistakes yourself.

Splitting the queues would just make the game worse.

Every game that does this nowadays has MMR in the unranked mode making it completely pointless. You leave ranked for some nonsweaty games and you get sweaty games there too. It's the main reason I don't play CoD for hundreds of hours anymore.

That is what Overwatch has become as well, the matchmaking is so bad in quick play that the way to avoid full groups who are higher ranked matching you with gold or silver players is to play competitive. Albeit, their competitive matchmaking is not much better, but at least you avoid playing against GM squads while people who are back to collect skins they already missed because they are so casual are on your team.

What would be the point? The game would be incredibly boring vs 4 total randoms

Any decent killer would probably dominate and it wouldn't be any less sweaty, just even less balanced.

    Hard pass

Also if you think about it if they did make casual a thing they would need to add in an mmr kind of system into it anyway just to make it playable.

Which means what we have now is already casual.

    On the other hand

Players have complained about: Time it takes to get a match, The Skill of the other players, and lag

So It'll be hard to change all of that

What are the incentives for seasoned players to play 'ranked' instead of 'quick play'?

What are the reasons casual players would play 'quick play' instead of 'ranked'?

You'll find that this produces a conflict, the reasons for one set of players wanting to play one will be the same reasons for the other players wanting to play that too.

'Ranked' gives emblems and grades? Then everyone will want to play ranked anyway.

'Quick Play' has no matchmaking? Then everyone will want to play quick play for "easy games", bearing in mind one players easy game is their opponents nightmare game.

You'll likely find that players quickly learn that 'Quick Play' is a chaotic hellscape of a game, getting either ridiculously easy games where their opponents DC all the time or impossible games against opponents who obliterate them instantly, and refuse to play it for the lesser rewards, finally learning the merits of MMR.
