Worst realm for Solo Q?

lauraa
lauraa Member Posts: 3,195

As of the Attack on Titan update, I can't help but feel that it's the Garden of Joy.

The Joy starts fine, however I find matches on this map spiral out of control very quickly. If there's a weak link and the killer finds them, they seem to go down faster typically compared to some other realms.

The level is very open and exposed, which feels suffocating if you're a weak looper. Killers that enjoy LoS like Slinger, Nurse, Nemesis and Trickster absolutely plow through average survivors here. The average person struggles as it is to deal with Trickster and Nemesis but this level just dials it up to 11.

Anytime I see someone in chase in the Joy I get anxiety as if I were part of a bomb disposal unit or something. Im just praying furiously that they can last just 30 seconds. Please, all I want is 30 seconds!

oh uh, shout out to Azarov's. Only map I've seen a literal 5 gen.

Midwich, small and locating gens can be a pain. Plus it's really good for most killers, especially now that the hold W strategy has been diminished in it's effectiveness.

I struggle on Midwich, which is apparently, based on BHVRs own stats, the map with the highest killrates. So not surprising.

For solo as a whole though, it's pretty easy to 3 gen on maps like Azarovs, Suffocation Pit, and Sanctum of Wrath. Obviously SWFs on comms can coordinate gens, which solo unfortunately can't.

    Midwich

Dead Dawg If your teammates don't know how to play it (Easy 3 gens)

Suffo pit and Azarovs for obvious 3 gen related reasons

Hawkins used to be a solo Q nightmare too because people would do the two easy gens and let the killer have a 4 gen in the middle of the map

RPD. Easy one. If you get hooked at the back of the map, you're screwed.

Shelter Woods. Once the pallets at the tiles and in Shack are used, it's pretty much game over.

I want to say shelter woods, but then i remember 40 minutes long match on suffo pit, ugh please rework this football map already

Midwich is probably the closest to being killer sided, so I would imagine that is the one. It used to be Hawkins. Shout out to the only genuinely killer sided map we had. Boy do I miss it, easy to see why they did not reskin it, however. Can't have just one map for killers.

Probably Aazarov's Resting Place, Coal Tower and Midwich.

Any map with a strong gen stack that has to be broken patiently. Matchmaking is usually going to place 1 or 2 teammates in the lobby that aren't paying attention. They'll blast the two gens on shack side of Suffo Pit and 5 gen the team.

Midwich is all around horrible, so there's this one.

I'd also advocate for any Autohaven map and some MacMillan maps as well, they are very dark and finding gens can be hard, which leads to a lot of time loss.

It was killer sided before the update, I wouldn't be surprised if the kill rate is 60% on the map right now.

  • Nazzzak
    Nazzzak Member Posts: 5,883

It was 62.93% killrate as of January this year. I'd say higher now

People unironically believing that Midwich is a killer-sided map really shows the huge gap there is between casual and seasoned players.

It is mathematically killer sided, you couldn't interpret it any other way.

It used to be Shelter Woods IMO, but at least it has size. Now it’s Wrecker’s Yards. There is a reason why killer mains say it’s “the most balanced map in the game.” 😑🙄

I also agree this is the answer, no brainer. One of the few maps I can die first hook with Kindred equipped in solo queue. Also features some of the worst basements in the game if you get hooked in them, and very campable hooks elsewhere.

We’ll see on the updated maps, I haven’t tried them yet (don’t play PTB).

Yamoka Estate, specifically Sanctum. The symmetry of the gens makes it easy to 3 gen. Can't yell at the team top stop doing gens on one side.

I wish they just got rid of maps that don't have a main building.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you about Garden Of Joy. The reason I say because I feel that map while I will agree is a terrible map to deal with. But I say it’s more terrible to deal with as killer rather then survivor due to how poorly the house with the many god windows and loops on it. I will also say that map favors more survivor then killer but that’s from my experience from that map.

I say the worst map to deal with as a solo que survivor is RPD. I know others have also said that map is also terribly designed. But anyway the map is way too big and sometimes as both killer and survivor you can’t always find gens or people on there due to again how big the map is. The loops on there are also pain to deal with due to how some areas are unbalanced for each side.

Coalpit is usually pretty balanced you can get decent setups on it pretty often.

I'd say Suffo Pit and Azarov's specifically because randoms are terrible at doing gens strategically. If a long chase happens, all the gens on the other side of the map will get done because everyone just moves away from the terror radius instead of thinking "hey, it might be a problem to leave 3 gens in shack side, I should try to sneak back and get a gen done under the killer's nose."

RPD can be bad if you get very weak teammates who aren't familiar with the game, because they won't do gens at all and can't figure out how to unhook you. But that might change with new RPD and all the holes in the walls.

It's also small and with the new tiles added to MacMillan maps, I see a lot more ######### tiles.

I agree the size can make it harder but there is worse offenders like wreckers. The new tiles feel like a double edged sword. Im not the best at survivor and because of a really stupid setup of longwall into one of those new tiles I was practically untouchable to the sadako until bl 3 and even then I didnt get hit till all the windows were entity blocked. Solo I would say a lot of the new tiles are probably weaker than the old ones but they seem to combo really well.

Surprised no one has mentioned Father Campbell's Chapel. That map is small and heavily killer-sided due to how easy it is to snowball on. Plus the entire south area area where all the circus junk is is usually just one giant dead zone that sometimes has one okay pallet and one gen usually spawns back there so the killer has very little reason to ever go back there most of the time. (but when they do to back there and see you, you're screwed)

Also been really hating Wretched Shop lately. That map is a shining example of RNG dependence. Whenever I get it as survivor pretty much the entire area that's behind the shop is a massive dead zone that usually has one T/L wall.

Garden of Joy also gets an honorable mention. I know killer mains like to call it the "Garden of Pain" but I swear, as survivor, I think I've had three, maybe four legit escapes on that map since it came out.

Other maps that tend to be rough as survivor are ones already mentioned above: Midwich, Lerys, Pale Rose, Wreckers Yard, Suffocation Pit, Azarov's Resting Place, and Shelter Woods. I'd also add Rotten Fields to the list especially depending on the killer.

Garden of Pain is incredibly Survivor-sided. Seriously, just run to the god loops.

Also, Father Campbell's Chapel has some of the most busted set-ups possible. Main building god window and Shack can spawn looping into a long-wall jungle gym

Hawkins was so disgusting for stealth Killers haha. If I wanted to sweat for a win, I would just pick Wraith with a Hawkins offering. I don’t think I ever lost a match.

Wrecker’s Yard doesn’t get enough hate. That centralized basement is so dirty.
