How on earth was Wesker nerfed?

So Wesker got some changes in the latest developer update, and on paper they are ALL BUFFS!

Yet I've serfed the comments quite a bit and see quite a handful of select people who are saying he was nerfed heavily. Their reason? His ridiculous hurt box was reduced when using his power. If there's something else, I don't see it.

Weskers reduced hurt box makes him more precision focused, and...y'know...actually require skill. Not just aim, Yolo and win. On top of that he can injure at both pallets and windows, making them unsafe now. Oh! And they also increased his movement speed after the first bound so you properly get better value on the second bound.

How is any if that a nerf?

It is technically a nerf, but getting snatched from with the crappy hotboxes was so frustration

His collision definitely needed to be reduced. Overall I think they handled the changes to him very well and I think he’s going to be a solid A tier killer. Looking forward to him

I was confused myself as well, the only thing "nerfed" is that he can't get janky hits anymore. The rest were a bunch of buffs.

I didn't see any from what I've read.

I honestly thought people were joking or being sarcastic.

They speak as if they've played him live and I'm just baffled by that absurdity and kind of scared of it.

I agree that he needed a smaller hitbox on his bound because it often collided with other stuff. But he also needed a lot of small buffs to compensate for the fact it's going to be useless now out in the open. You wont be able to use it to get a guaranteed hit anymore that way.

The biggest issue is that even with the smaller hitbox it WILL NOT be useful at around 80% of pallets/vaults at all.

Think about this. Cannibal, has a...

    1) shorter charge time

    2) insta-down

    3) can "curve" as much as he wants

    4) bigger hitbox

    5) more distance covered and longer power usage

    6) faster recovery time

    7) can insta-break pallets very fast

And yet, he still isn't overpowered at all. Weskers power is ultimately worse than Cannibals, a lot worse now for 1 reason, that being it's not even useful anymore to guarantee a hit from a distance in the open which was his only strength. They traded his only strength for a small buff that will not matter Wesker needed a shorter charge time, 3 bounds, to bound after vaulting, and a few other things.

You will see what a pile of crap he is when he releases. All that said he is the funnest, but now probably a very bad killer.

The reduced hit box size is a nerf, obviously. Survivors have a better chance at dodging his dash. But as you said, that's actually a good thing, considering it will increase Wesker's skill cap.

All the other changes are buffs though. And from what I have seen, most people agree. Only few people seem to actually believe Wesker is being nerfed. Which, yes, is pretty ridiculous.

None of the buffs are going to make a big impact, but they don't need to. He was already decent on the ptb. He'll just mainly feel even better to play as now. And I can't wait to play against him either. While he'll be a bit stronger at loops now, no doubt, he will also be a bit more dodgeable. And he will surely still have very fair counterplay thanks to his long charge time, and not being able to injure survivors over vaults or objects.

It's absolutely a net buff. You have be more precise with his bound (in PTB you just had to bound close to them and you'd hit/grab), but everything else there is an improvement from PTB.

If you actually compared their powers (wesker and cannibal), you would see cannibals is far superior. Wesker will have nothing now except a demo lunge that can't hit anything from far away. Wesker needed buffs, but they changed nothing from their crap PTB.

He is going to severely underperform in high rank games just like Sadako. If you don't think im wrong thats fine, but it wont change anything. He is basically a nurse with no anti-loop, they couldn't have done him any worse.

Don’t forget that that the smaller hitbox will allow him to bump into very small objects that jut out of walls less which will also make him much more comfortable to play

I guess we will see. I might be one of the few who understands what a smaller hitbox on his bound means. It means you can no longer use it at long range for anything. And at close range, because of its charge time, its basically worthless almost always.

He will perform around the same level of Sadako whether you believe it or not.

It does not make him easier to use, because the power was only strong out in the open, where if survivors had nothing to hide behind, it was a guaranteed hit the second you starting bounding.

They nerfed that aspect, without buffing the part where it could potentially be used as anti loop/vault. I don't actually blame them completely, they are oblivious to how this is going to play out in ranked matches. They should not have released him so janky, it's going to be really bad because he was clearly alpha-level release worthy in PTB, not beta.
