Now many people will call it dead perk and say Its bad perk. I strongly disagree.

1) Its not dead perk by a mile. You can add extra hook state and a half for anyone! So from 2 hook states to ~3+. That's very powerfull and will punish any camper during a game.

2) It still works in end game which is honestly the part I was hoping for being nerfed. It shouldn't work at the end game.

3) You can use it very well as solo Survivor too. If you worry too much about wasting time then run Kindred so you know where everyone is (Kindred is awesome perk and should be run by any solo player anyway sadly).

It's still very good perk, the best anti Camping perk ever and will waste a lot of time for the killer than for that Survivor(s) trying to activate this perk.

    1) One is wrong math, until I understand you wrong. The increase is not nearly doubled, the increase is much lower. A single Survivor can use Reassurance up to 6 times, adding 3 Hook States. So instead of 6 Hook States there will be 9.

    2) Does not matter, as I wrote in the other Thread, in Endgame those are mostly Hook Trades unless the Survivors play perfectly. And even then it needs to be somewhat close to the gate.

    3) If I am the only one having Reassurance, there is no point for me to leave my Gen to run to the camped person. Especially if I see with Kindred that the rest of the team is also doing nothing.

The Perk can be useful in a 4 man-SWF, for Solos it is not a good Perk anymore.

I think devs are scared of swarm of snotty campers that was going to start pouring tears left and right. Because to make Reassurance "not abusable", as they appeal to, it would be enough just to keep skillchecks/kobe attempts for hooked survivors. But they nerfed it to the ground. I feel it a really insulting that someone think I'm stupid enough to buy this "change to prevent abusing by teammates".

They also nerfed itr because people were complaing they couldnt kill themselves on hook anymore if they wanted to with it

Reassurance will now allow you to add no more than 30 seconds. This does require you to leave a gen and get up close with the killer, so part of the benefit is lost already, on top of it potentially being risky.

It's not worth running anymore now that it's one-time use. Camaraderie was never used and Reassurance is now roughly the same.

Killing yourself on hook is a strategy

More like it’s to prevent being held hostage on hook so you have to potentially disconnect if you don’t want to be on it for 10 or 15 minutes or more in a worst case scenario.

I'm not sure I like it. I don't feel it punish face campers enough but I could be wrong

You are right, the perk will still be good. People calling this perk useless is just classic overreaction to a nerf that feels unnecessary.

And that is the problem I have. The perk will still be strong, but the nerf was completely unnecessary. It should be even stronger, simple as that.

If players can potentially do that with a perk and that's the reason for its butchering, does that mean these players can't grief the game in its current state? Do they really need a perk like Reassurance to troll the game?

Outside of Leatherface which is an issue that should be addressed outside a perk, you can force trades against a camping killer and buy out time for others to get the gens done.

Person A gets hooked, you reassurance an extra 30 seconds and trade close to before they transition to next state. You earned 80s of gen time for your team there.

Now you get hooked, Person B comes in reassurance you for an extra 30 seconds and then trades. Another 80 seconds.

It adds up as long as the survivor team goes for the save, which is healthy for the game. Old reassurance had the problem of survivors weren't exactly given a reason to actually unhook.

It's still very effective as an anti-camping tool as it'll still buy plenty of time and make it much harder for a killer who just camps every hook to win. The basekit BT buff also makes it much harder for the killer to just down the saved survivor as well.

Just because there are other ways to troll people doesn’t make closing off one of those ways is a bad idea.

The question is, is it strong enough on it's own to warrant killers from avoiding camping and tunneling. I suspect if only one person in your game runs it, it will largely have no impact on the game. But, once more than one person in the game starts using it, it could easily save people that would otherwise have been camped or tunneled out of the game.

So if the community at large uses it then camping and tunneling will quickly become not an option for killers. But, if killers convince survivors the perk is bad and they don't run it, nothing will change.

I would have preferred they change it in a different way but this will still be one of the strongest perks in the game for both SWF and solos. The people saying otherwise are really just overreacting.

Yea mostly this exactly. They could have had the 10 second cooldown be on the hooked survivor instead of the perk and that would have worked to avoid the hostage situation.

But honestly an extra 60 seconds from just one person's perk is just very strong.

I mean the situation you describe in 3 means the match was already lost and no perk would make you win the match. You being the only one to do a generator with two AFK people and one on the hook is pretty much the definition of losing. From my experience with BT before it was basekit, one of those teammates will probably have Reassurance which is why they were hanging around the hook to begin with. If you're running Kindred and you see them run over and then leave to work on a generator, just chill on your generator for 30 seconds, which will probably cause you to finish your generator, and then head over to use your own Reassurance.

You can also run Reassurance with Unbreakable. Run to the hook at the literal last second. Activate it. Then they either pick you up because they see you used Reassurance and a teammate gets the save or you Unbreakable and get the save or run away. Or you just crawl away from the hook and Unbreakable.

I agree, but the change was not the correct way to fix it. Just keep skill checks during second struggle phase and if you don't hit 2 in a row you die, or every missed skill check could reduce a bit of entity progress (just like how it is now) but with the timer still paused, done.

That's stupid there is no reason to buy the new survs now, that's not how you sell a DLC you need to release it broken and nerf it a month later

It is a bad perk, because I need to pay to have it.

Feels like BHVR is taking advantage of players' good faith.

I don't think BHVR intended to let survivors be on the hook forever, when I saw that part of the perk it just seemed like a completely unintentional thing

Many of us liked it because it hard countered facecamping but idk something about it struck me as unintended

We don't need this perk. Where is Kindred as basekit. I just want to know if they're camping so i won't go save them. then the killer can gaslight me for not saving my teammates lol

It's garbage, just like Kinship. The 30s is a drop in the bucket. Skill Checks are one way to prevent forcing or "abusing" the perk or a way to decline. Maybe have the Active Ability reject Reassurance.

  • Leguś
    Leguś Member Posts: 189

2 people could troll 3rd person on Hook forever if they wanted to do.

And in end-game it basically felt like old Hatch stand-off. Either one side gives in or we reach a stalemate.

There's a reason we have a Bleed-out timer even though long slugging doesn't feel "fun".

Kinship is a perk that only works once the entire match and unless you are in a SWF your teammates have no idea that you have it to play into it.

Reassurance can be used up to 6 times, each being a 30 second pause, that does not require coordination to pull off successfully.

And 30 seconds isn't a drop in the bucket. It's half a hook state. Being able to increase both hook states timers by 50% is not insignificant and since the perk can be stacked with your teammates you can extend hook timers quite a long time. If adding a total of 3 minutes to your teammate hooks does not allow gens to get done, then you have other issues.

  • Neyar
    Neyar Member Posts: 65

    This has never been correct.

Two survivors and the killer would all have to work together to 'troll someone on hook forever'. The perk only works within 6 meters, so you'd have to have the killer standing there allowing it to happen.

Which is exactly the same scenario if two survivors body block a third in a corner indefinitely. If the killer just stands there nodding you're still just as screwed for however long until they all get bored. Wait, that doesn't happen?

  • Nicholas
    Nicholas Member Posts: 2,159

Sure, if the planets align perfectly, you can move mountains! In reality, this doesn't happen. The 30s is a drop in the bucket, you disagree, and that's ok. Your perfect scenario requires everyone to be running it AND that they rescue someone because if The Killer is camping, then each person can only use it once for a total of 90s. It's not as simple and compelling as you say.

  • Crowman
    Crowman Member Posts: 10,212

You can force hook trades against every killer in the game. Leatherface is kind of the exception with his power, but that's a different problem the devs have to address outside of adding perks to the game. And 90s per a hook state is not an insignificant value. That's a single gens worth of time which can be repeated up to 6 times. The perk is strong and requires more thought than just having 1 person stay near the hook stalling out the timer which is far healthier for the game overall.

What if Killer wants pressure, everyone hides and just pauses the timer, then when Killer starts to proxy camp you can do Reassurance abuse which is gonna be gone.

Listen, if there's a shimmer of possibility that there's something Survivors can abuse, they will do it.

You're not going to convince me that the perk isn't garbage. I know the game well; I have considered all aspects and disagree. I won't be using it and don't expect to see it being used that often. Perhaps it would be better if it worked on yourself and another Survivor had to come by to trigger it every 40s, and like Kindred, it displays the hook icon to everyone when you're hooked.
