Yeah, survivors are FAR more toxic than killers.

This is another cliché rant about a match I just had. I am a survivor main, and I'd say I'm pretty decent. We were at the meat factory plant, and I was being tunneled by a Doctor. Fine, that's okay. I actually enjoy being tunneled because I like to juke/loop. I like to take it as a positive experience to see how I can improve my skill. Anyways, everything was going great. I hadn't been hit yet, and I managed to loop down to 2 gens! For whatever reason, a Meg decides to join in and body blocks me so that I get hit. I thought it was a genuine accident, that they were trying to save me from being tunneled when I didn't need it. Fine, I shrug it off and continue the chase. The Meg comes AGAIN, and this time they slam a pallet down in my face and t-bag as the killer downs me. I get placed on the hook, and NONE of my teammates except a Claudette (who was also toxic, I'll get to that) even ATTEMPTED for the save. Mind you, they were all fully healed at this point. They used my entire 2 hooks to heal each other, and do 1 gen. Now, I promise you for those who are skeptical. I did absolutely NOTHING to deserve this treatment. I was just playing the game. No t-bagging, nothing. So I spectate them and watch them do totems, the last gen etc. I ask them why in the chat would they do that to me. The Meg says "I hate rats, do you see my rank?" and the Claudette says that apparently I used all the pallets...mind you, I *literally* watched the Claudette vault from pallet to pallet the entire time after I died. There was no way I "used all the pallets". I deliberately make sure that I am conserving pallets for my teammates to use, it's the number 1 reason why I refuse to use the shack god pallet and would rather go down. The Claudette proceeds to tell me that my death was "karma bb" and then I just left. Wow. My own teammates.

There may not be a correlation, but there is certainly an irony to it all. Toxic Survivors make toxic Killers look like amateurs.

It's the same on both sides. Survivors teabag at the gate or by doing the oh-so-amazing play of a pallet stun and killers will shake their head no after losing chases and eating pallets when they get you down because now they're the MVP and will shake their head yes when you're the last one on the hook.

It's the person behind the screen. Those with nothing to offer outside of the game need that validation. They're pathetic and drag everyone else down.

What I learned in all the hours of playing is to ignore people like that. They just can't read the situation correctly and they can't tell what you did wrong when they don't see your perspective.

I remember a teammate who wrote to me at the end game chat the following quote: "You don't deserve to escape." After asking them why, they claimed I didn't do anything, without specifying what I did wrong.

That player didn't survive long that match and i did what i could to save them and did all the objective categories.

    Just ignore and move on.

I'm not actually attempting to speak from everyone, this is just an example from my own personal experience. People are free to believe whatever they want. I do tend to come across some extremely toxic players from both sides, yes. Just a cliché rant

well survivor toxicity is more obvious because we are playing with 4 survivor and 1 killer in a lobby. So you have higher chance to meet toxic people on the survivor side. But in the end even if some people love making this like a cultural division between players, the exact same kind of people play on both sides. So usually it doesn't make sense to talk about killers or survivors like they are somehow part of a different community. ######### are #########. You meet them all the time in multiplayer games. Especially where you are grouped up with random strangers with all sort of nonsense in their heads.

What I observed is, that many multiplayer games like this one which consists of a match eventually leads to the feeling of repetition, and repetition easilly leads to frustration, even if they don't know what they are angry about, they are grinding in a game in the way they did 1000 times before. They enjoy it less by now, and they are saltier. In their minds it turns into a job. I would suggest to those to stop playing for a while and play something else for a change of pace.

i once had a game with a 3-swf. i found a key in a chest, and did a gen to about 40%. Then the killer found me, and i run him for 4 gens.

then i was downed, and hooked. That was before the hatch-rework, and the 3 came to my hook (the killer had left and was not camping at all) and teabagged me, until i died on the hook. then they took my key and left.

Afterwards they told me, it was because i was just a bad player who didnt work on gens, despite me running the killer for most of the game...

Thtats about the most toxic thing i experienced, but sandbagging and others happen more often than you think if you are with an swf you are not a part of.

(however, just to balance that: i also had a game with a 3-swf where the killer found me first and tunneled me very hard. i thought i woulndt get out there, but the team did really everything (including sacrificing themself) to get me out. they decided to save the random person at any cost, and then this tunnel guy happened).

Also, i sandbagged my teammates too on accident by blocking them when i just wanted to help them. happens.

That sounds so frustrating and horrible. Yeah, I never get mad if somebody is genuinely trying to help me but ends up getting in the way. Perhaps a little vexed, but not enough for me to be actually upset.

Maybe because I don’t feel like these posts add anything constructive.

Why are you posting it to begin with? Like, there is virtually no competition and if you already feel like it’s “cliché” then you know this is true.

Toxic players exist on both side.

Since it's 4 people, you'll usually have a higher chance of finding someone toxic.

A theory I have though is that unless they're at the exit gate, there's no way for people who play survivor to express their toxicity in game, since killer is almost always the power role. If a killer wanted to be toxic, they can just tunnel or facecamp you out of spite, as well as hit you on hook. They can relieve their anger in game. Survivors however don't have as much power as a killer does, unless they're a super coordinated SWF of some kind. Thus, the best next option for whenever some of them want to express their anger is to use end game chat, or message you on console or write a nice comment on your profile.

I also find when the killer is BMing someone (hard tunneling and m1ing on hook while nodding their head), and the 4 survivors somehow escape despite the killer facecamping out of spite, the killer is more likely to talk crap in end game chat.

In the end, I think it's just the fact that if people can't express their anger to other players in the game, they'll use the next best thing. Of course, I'm just speculating on personal experience is all.

Eh you were lucky to find one like that. You should be going to casinos winning big with that kind of luck.

I can't remember how far back it was when I received an insult from a killer, but there have been a few insults from survivors between then and now.

Both sides have toxic players, but it's been some time since a killer has been toxic to me . When I play killer, insults seem a bit more common post-game.

However, I have had many compliments from both sides, so both sides have really nice players.

I do wonder how much pack-mentality plays in toxic post-game chat. People feel more justified in bigging themselves up when in groups, and maybe that's why survivors may be deemed more toxic.

Here's my take on why it feels like survs are more toxic than killers:

    1. Survs have more ways to express themselves in game than killers. Survs can teabag, gesture, macro flashlight click, etc. Killers can hit you on hook or slug you, but that's about it
    2. There are more survs than killers, so statistically there are going to be more of them generally, and it's 4 v 1 every game.
    3. They can gang up on you and take the heat off each other, which is typical of toxic/cowardly personalities, so toxic people are more likely to want to play a role that allows that. Plus they can dogpile in the postgame chat as well.

Obviously there are toxic killers, but you do see less of it than with survs, and I don't think it's really arguable.

Idk man, when I play killer I get "gg ezs" or "you played like crap" etc... when I get toxic killers I get stuff like this lmao, this guy even 4K'd me and the people I got queued with, I just complained because he spent the entire game tunneling me and hitting me on hook for genuinely the entire game so I had a little moan that it was boring, then he came to my stream and... lmao

At least Twitch dealt with his channel in about an hour.

Clearly you are wrong. If you're going to insult somebody, at least have a reason for doing so.

Plenty on both sides to go around, I'm sure. The difference is that if a killer is toxic, it is usually in the course of doing what they need to do. I consider face-camping toxic, but the devs said it was OK, so it is what it is. And a lot of other stuff they do is because the game has one objective for them, kill as many survivors as possible by any means.

However, when survivors screw over their teammates, that is not part of the game. I have been intentionally body blocked multiple times in the last couple of days, and have had players refuse to unhook me (just standing under the hook and starting the unhook animation and stopping over and over, or just standing off to the side watching me when the killer was on the other side of the map) or refuse to heal me when the killer was clearly far away. Just mocking me by tea-bagging over and over.

Plenty of good people on both sides though.

The role doesn't matter here. Simply put, if someone wants to be a ****, they will be a ****. I've seen alarming toxicity from both sides in situations where none of it was deserved or spurred on at all. It's a problem every game has but it can feel particularly common in DBD if you keep getting matched with the same kind of people. That's just the luck of the draw.

I had a survivor one time block the exit switch so I couldn't leave because they thought I sandbagged them at the very beginning of the game where we ran in the same direction away from the killer. And the resulting chase didn't even get them hooked. I was beyond baffled and honestly a bit frustrated. But it's not like I could argue my side or get them to apologise. So believe me you're not the only one who's had their teammates screw you over for no reason at all.

They do it because they know they can get away with it and enjoy upsetting people. That's the nature of the internet unfortunately and games as well. As long as you know you didn't do anything wrong you can just move on from it. And even if you did deserve it, it's only one game at the end of the day. You'll forget about it in no time.

No problem. I find venting or talking about my problems out loud with other people (if they're people that want to listen) almost always helps or gives me perspective that makes me feel better about said problem. Happy to help :)

I love the games where you accidentally sandbag a team mate, so they purposely sandbag you back. And then it's all good after that, you just play like good teammates for the rest of the game lol

Killers can let you bleed out on the ground for legitimately no reason other than they already killed everyone else, they can hold you hostage by doing the "pick you up and drop you, then down you over and over again" thing, they can pretend to give you hatch or door then kill you anyway, ect.

Survivors can... click their flashlight? Or press the crouch button very fast? (or hide in basement for over an hour and make me want to claw my eyes out). Maybe the worst thing is bringing a very strong map offering, but they are at least engaging in normal gameplay.

As for end game chat, both sides are full of insane people. It's the internet, what the hell were you expecting?

  • buffcoyote
    buffcoyote Member Posts: 120

I wasn't expecting anything. It was just a simple rant. It's not this deep. Do not join the circus of people replying to this that have made this into an unnecessary debate.
