Your chat filter still SUCKS
So about a year and a half ago I made this thread (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241116/your-chat-filter-really-sucks/p1)that your chat filter SUCKS.
Of course you moved it to the pits of Feedback and Suggestions, and then proceeded to ignore it completely although it seemed almost no one disagree that the chat filter SUCKS and it needs to be either disabled or toggleable.
Fast forward one year and a half your chat filter still SUCKS. Even the excuse "it is constantly being updated" grew poorly with time as it seems that chat filter sucks as much as it did 1 and a half year ago!
It still censors random stuff, and its still entirely unnecessary in a 18+ game where people are being slaughtered and mutilated on a game to game basis.
The chat filter literally filters stupid things that makes it insanely hard to communicate or even make basic jokes.There are many many examples of legit words are being censored like its the end of the world. The chat filter even censor silly stuff like "pp" lol...
Anyway, time to reanimate this topic. Your chat filter sucks, and its completely unnecessary. AT LEAST give us the opportunity to DISABLE this garbage. I think the majority of people playing this game would prefer to see what people write to them without 1) really mindless and stupid censor that literally censors the wrong stuff 2) don't really mind seeing some curses and slurs.
So at the very least give us the option to DISABLE it. It's useless and unnecessary and works like crap and censors the wrong stuff anyway.
Thank you for reading, I guess, as usually, my feedback will be ignored and nothing will happen but whatever, I think it's fair to say my expectations are already low from my experience with this game.

I agree it needs some loosening up, they censor way too many words that don't need censoring. Too many sensitive people nowadays complaining and being easily offended by everything I guess.

This literally happened last match for me..
I had a match where I played against a Dredge, I ran Circle Of Healing and I tend to bless the totem a lot if the killer snuffed it, and of course the boon got my team healed up a ton and the killer wasn't happy about it, a Yun-Jin also had COH, we managed to all escape.
But in chat the Dredge was not happy about it, at first he kept insulting the Yun-Jin, but the thing is that ''Yun-Jin'' is censored, and then after he began to rage in the chat and called the Yun-Jin homophobic slurs, and the majority of them were not even censored, I don't get how some simple words like ''Yun-Jin'' or Other simple things can be censored like it's the most terrible words possible, while other slurs can be said with ease.
I may be overreacting but to me this is an issue and the chat censoring system should be updated as I don't think it makes sense that words like that and other homophobic slurs are allowed to be typed in chat while freaking survivor names or non-offensive messages are censored.
I guarantee that the developers are not going to do much but I still find this to be a problem and that their chat censoring system should be updated, these insults and slurs can really hit somebody hard, and no one deserves that all over a video game.

Just give us the option to toggle it off. Most people are not snowflakes and don't really care if someone random idiot is throwing curses at them, I mean, really who cares?! And to those who do care, they can leave this useless chat filter on.
It's been already a year and a half since my last post, and the chat filter is still crappy. Obviously it's far from getting better to a satisfactory level. Even if it was satisfying, there still should be an option to disable it like in any other game (at least ones that are aiming mature audience.

Sometimes the word "you" gets censored. Just this one word, English 2nd person pronoun, is apparently a curse word according to BHVR.

YunJin actually got censored for me. I think the Jin in YunJin got censored for me. Cuz Yun worked fine

The word "Harding" is censored too. ######### :DD
The saddest thing is that they just gonna ignore that like they did my last thread from 1.5 years ago, what a shame. Not a big surprise though, which is even sadder.

I agree completly. Some survivors name are censored, perk names as well and the word "main" as I recall, so you cannot say that you are a Zaryna main or ask if someone is or simply use the word for what it is

I think it's kinda funny what the game sometimes censores. One day I wouldn't even be able to say Steve, even with space between each letter (two spaces worked fine...).

Don't start on all of those overly sensitive people....
In German we say that these people "are made of sugar" and somehow the amount of these sugar people gets bigger and bigger🤔
The filter also censors stuff in foreign languages that don't even resemble bad words in English (or many other languages).
Once I wanted to tell the killer (German like myself) that his slugging was very boring. In German. Somehow the word "langweilig" (just "boring" in German) was a bad word. It must have been something with the part "weilig" because I could write "lang" without problems.
Also somehow the word "German" seems to be a bad word for this filter which is kinda funny. Other countries like Russia work for example so it can't be about nations either.... 🙄

ngl if anyone is gonna be offended by -anything- in this game, or any other HORROR game that depicts violence, blood, guts(hag mori), etc..
I'd be more mad they censored the country i live in or from lol
People need to just turn chat off. There's no point in this huge censorship in chat. If someone's racist, report them. It's just BHVR needs to do better with the report system. I would legit answer reports all day. I did it for free on a private server game years ago for several years. Seems the only time there are instant actions against offenders are when Devs/Mods etc are watching Streamers.

The racist stuff isn't even filtered properly.
Even with the filter people could call me a Nazi. Because in some people's eyes you are one if you are german.
But I don't need a filter to protect me from this.
The filter also doesn't work if someone wishes you a lot of terminal deseas or insults your mom.

Phone and Telephone get filtered.
I just wanted to tell a Leon who was showing my Deathslinger all the 'modern day thingamajicks' on RPD that I (as Caleb) KNOW what a phone is.

It's really not. Chat filtering doesn't do any good. ####### just tells me they're being an ass. and once its filtered you can't report them(I was told this by a mod replying to my ticket 3 years ago). This is just extra coding and time wasted trying to spare the feelings of a handful of people.

Even then the censor is so stupid it censors stuff that should not be censored, making you THINK that person was an ass while in fact he just wrote a word like "Phone" lol :D
