Gen camping.... is there such a thing?

So anyway I played this last game. And in the endgame chat I was accused of.... uh gen camping??

I asked if this is some new thing again, people consider as some sort of unsportsman like behavior? I never heard of this.

So he explains, that because I hit him and the gen, but afterwards I left him alone (I left him alone after 1 hit, to go find others, in my games I usualy love pressuring most of them at once, especially early game, instead of just hooking early) so uh my so called camping was that I returned to that gen and.... gasp I hit that same gen again! then I hooked him.

So I was considered something called a gen camper because I returned to the gen or something. Is this also a thing...?

That's not gen camping. Only thing which I would consider gen camping is defending 3 gen area right at the start of match and never leave. But it can be good stragedy in some maps like in haddonfield if all 3 gens are in main building but the match will be very long.

Protecting gens is literally the killers job. Disregard that player's complaint..

It's on the redacted edition of Survivor's Rulebook for Killers 2022, under the 12th article of the 5th chapter named "Lesser sins often commited by Killers", where not letting Survivors repair gens is considered griefing of gameplay due to the "... Killer's nature of destroying Generators to avoid their completion, therefore nullifying time and effort put by survivors in said repair of the Generator.".

There also seems to be a clause somewhere that Hooks within 20m of any uncompleted Generator cannot be used under any circumstance, but I haven't read the entire compendium.

well the way this guy explained was that I returned to the gen and kicked it again after I was done chasing his teammates. So I aparently am a camper for returning to the gen I was before, or something.

It wasn't about 3 gens, I do this every game pretty much especially with Sadako in early game. I find the first gen they are working on, kick it and hit once the person who was working on it, then I leave him alone and look for the others, slap around as many as I can find then teleport back to teh first gen, and this time I will hook the person if he's still around. It's my main pressure because Sadako is lacking a bit of strength so I have to bluff charge and go for someone else quite a bit.

That seems decent stragedy and it's not gen camping it's just normal gameplay. Im lazybones and just chase survivor I see first and go for down and hook. But if there is multiple survivors nearby then I try injure as many I can and definetely kick the gen they worked on.

When defending last 3 gens I was reported for gen camping many times.

Not everyone is a troll, so people are so salty that are reporting.

Don't you know? After m1ing a survivor the 32m radius from that spot is a no no zone for the killer. You shouldnt ever go back there or you're camping.

No, there's no such thing. That's just called gen pressure, which is what the killer is supposed to be doing.

Good killers will hook near 3 gens and proxy camp. So yeah, gen camping is a thing and it works pretty well. Had a game where I gen camped just today and won fairly easily.

Yes. If you camp... As in stay around an area, in this case, a generator; you are camping a generator.

There is nothing wrong with it. Just like there is nothing wrong with tunneling or gen rushing... But they certainly exist. Even if people from the Twilight Zone tell you it doesn't exist because in their realm they cannot figure out the compound terminology. Or they just don't "believe" as though their opinion on the tactic's validity magically makes it non-existent.

Now, unlike those two aforementioned boogeyman of the community, camping a generator is low-key throwing. So I have no idea why they got triggered about it. Albeit, typically you camp a three gen as opposed to a singular one and you only ever really do that if you need it to regress badly and they, for whatever demented reason, will not leave.

I wouldn't call it gen camping, but it's very possible to get into a bit of stalemate around a 3 gen, and that can be mind numbing. The killer knows they can't commit away from the area and the survivors keep tanking hits and running away from the gens. It basically comes down to who gets bored first or who throws the game first.

I've never heard of this phrase until tonight. It sounds absurd. It's right here with "gen rushing". Neither exist.

I just played a Trapper game (only because I had a 120k Mori ritual) and I ended up against 4 Megs on Azarov's Resting Place. I only left the one side of the map once to collect my traps and gave them 4 gens for free before unceremoniously murdering them Megheads and Mori-ing one of them.

I'm obviously guilty of articles 5.12 and 4.20 of the Survivor's Rulebook. Haul me away and throw away the key.
