Hillbilly Buff

Despite hillbilly being the most iconic original dbd killer, actually playing as him is miserable. I genuinely believe that hillybilly deserves a buff to his. Base kit. The fact that countless loops on Eryie of Crows and Garden of Joy hard countrr billies power is cringe. Hillybilly should have a higher base kit turning rate to deal with strong loops. As it is now, hillybilly players need a 3rd eye to properly use their power.

They need to return to new maps for the past like 2 years and buff (aka nerf) the colision, which would help not only him, but also other killer(s).

Strength-wise Billy is fine. He does not need any Buffs to enhance his strength.

But QoL-Updates would be nice. The animations and the FoV should really be fixed. It is bearable with Shadowborn, but you should not have to run a Perk to have a good feeling when playing Billy. His Chainsaw-Hitbox also can be smaller, this would make it a bit harder to get Chainsaw-Hits (since you actually have to aim properly), but would help with not bumping into things just because his Chainsaw-Hitbox is massive.

I see your point but let's not forget that Hillbilly is also incredibly hard to play and therefore should be more rewarding when played right. For his chainsaw I'm almost certain that his collision zone on objects does not equal the survivor's. You can literally bump into things that are out of your sight but glide around survivors that are a little off center.

Billy doesn't really need his hitbox or turning rate adjusted. Most of his issues come from poor map design in terms of collisions or general layout. Some minor tweaks to the overheat mechanic would be welcome too (since we know overheat ain't getting removed).

    • Change overheat to no longer gain during the dash, only during the rev
    • Slight increase in base cooling (nothing crazy, just a couple of points)
    • Improve object hitboxes on terrain to be more reasonable
    • Change the roar to be when he downs a survivor instead of at the start (since they probably won't remove it)
    • Make the post animation swing less jarring (some is fine, but it's a bit off putting for new players)

Addon rework (i'll edit as I think of more)

    • Pighouse Gloves changed to yellow rarity
    • Off-Brand Motor Oil changed to Purple and has a new effect. When Billy downs a survivor all current heat in the saw is dissipated (similar to blight's alchemist ring, but more balanced).
    • Big buckle - No longer effects terror radius, instead survivors hit by the chainsaw suffer from the mangled effect until fully healed
    • Leafy Mash - Survivors hit by the chainsaw suffer from the oblivious status effect for 30 seconds after being unhooked (rename the addon to be more appropriate, number may need changing to be less oppressive in soloq)
    • Mother helpers - Buffed to 20% and occurs for any kind of pallet destruction (kicking, chainsaw, spirit fury). However, no longer stackable with Carb
    • Black Grease - Removed old effect. New effect, increases movement speed while charging the chainsaw to 4 (or 4.4)

I mean, I agree that Billy is hard to play and that other Killers (*cough*Nurse*cough*) are easier to play and more rewarding. In general, you can win most of your games with all of the Killers in the game, so you can also 4K with Sadako who is weaker than Billy but simple to play.

But I dont think that he is not rewarding or not rewarding enough, because you can have way more fun when playing Billy compared to other Killers.

It is just that it can be an awkward experience since they decided to change animations and FoV for him.

I wish you could play with me against the Hillbilly’s I play against. Some of these guys can do perfectly timed “J’s” on Eyrie of Crows with ######### add-ons. Then there are the ones who feel unescapable with their “L’s using the best Boot add-ons. Sometimes I swear I got caught with a “U” on there a few times, but that could have just been in my head.

I say we give him 30% speed increase by default, 3 sec charge time, and 35% increase in turn rate after the initial curve. So like a toned down version of double engravings, plus an improved version of the yellow boots.

Decrease overheat buildup by 50% when further than 24m from a hooked player. Then rework some of his addons like engravings.

His issue isn't that he's bad, he's just heavily addon reliant to get hits against better players, and unnecessarily punishing. I think he'll always be clunky and have difficult collision, but that's part of the challenge. Could always make heavy clutch basekit too. These changes wouldn't make a huge difference to lower skill billies but be super helpful to see more billy in high MMR.

All Hillbilly needs (coming from a Hillbilly main) is his roar removed and his lopro chains nerfed. Maybe a few add on buffs and collision fixed on a few maps, but otherwise just what I mentioned above.

Im sorry. I can smell from your comment that you're definitely a new player or just a bad survivor. There is a reason why people don't play hillbilly anymore

my idea is - unnerf him, but just tune down the old charge addons so at most you could charge 15% faster not 40%

I have literally not seen a lopro chains billy in years, people think it's OP? I think it's mediocre at best when you compare it to some of the other purples that exist

Because Hillbilly nowadays requires Skill (as far as you can call anything in DBD "Skill"). Before the changes he was pretty easy if you used Chargetime Add Ons. Nowadays he is harder to play. Also, he is not really worth learning, you have so many strong Killers which are easier to learn than Billy. And if you want the strongest Killer, you will just play Nurse instead of Billy.

And well, as I said in my post, he needs QoL-Improvements. His FoV is awful, I can only play him with Shadowborn, because that way he feels more like "old Billy". I am very sure, even if they buff some of his Add Ons, it will not have the same success like changing back his FoV and reducing the size of his Chainsaw Hitbox.

But yeah, you are right, I am very new and very bad at the game. 7800 hours. More hours on each role than most of the players in total. What do I know...

His chains create lose-lose situations for survivors. Drop the pallet and get injured while the pallet gets destroyed or don't drop it and get downed. Other than Engravings (and even then its debatable), lopro chains is his strongest add on.

That's lots of killers and addons though? I don't see why it makes hillbilly in specific overpowered. There are way more problematic addons available, and even some of the latest ones like Lab Photo for the mastermind I think are significantly stronger than LoPro.

Only the top holy elite can play Billy

You have to suffer a lot before being allowed to enter into the Billy Hall of Fame

He just needs QoL (smoother animation and less overheat) and add-on pass

I agree. Why is Hillbilly nerfed to the ground when Blight exists?

Billy never needed the overheat mechanic IMO.
