Pain Res and Merciless Storm need Nerfs!
The Problems
- Survivors are having an abysmal time whenever a Killer runs the Pain Resonance and Dead Man's Switch combination.
- The meta for Killers has barely altered thanks to the recent buff of Pain Resonance.
- Pain Resonance and Merciless Storm, pre-patch, was a nasty combination.
The Solutions
- Pain Resonance: Pain Resonance no longer causes Survivors to produce screams nor interrupt their actions on a Generator.
- Merciless Storm: Merciless Storm will no longer produce continuous skill checks after 10 seconds.
It's as simple as that; if you don't want Killers abusing the god damn Pain Resonance and Merciless Storm combination, then nerf Merciless Storm. If you don't want Killers abusing Pain Resonance and Dead Man's Switch, remove the interruption aspect of Pain Resonance.
And literally do both in the same patch. It's. So. Simple.
Perk balance team, step up your game.

You mean the combination that was so hard to pull off that it was basically random unless the killer somehow was either hacking or extremely aware? This combination didn't need nerfs, nor did PR+DMS need to be brought back. All people had to do was let go and you don't get a missed skill check explosion. BHVR panicked over twitter meme videos of "OMG 40 MERCILESS STORM SKILLCHECKS SO BROKEN!" when they were in-games that they were intentionally trying to make this interaction happen.

Just let the gen go before that happens if you're having troubles with it. If you see that the gen is almost at 90% and the killer is about to hook a survivor, just let go a bit earlier than that. Or run Repressed Alliance, a perk that makes you block a gen for a certain amount of time, so the gen won't lose progress at all.

I am surprised that it's not being used

I'd rather see Pain Resonance as a 10% regression with a notification and no scream.
This would solve all the interrupting problems from the scream. Merciless skill checks would be extended, doubled in theory, but that's not unreasonable since you don't get an automatic interruption. The killer might roll up thanks to the notification but that just keeps things spicy!
It would also give a killer a target after hooking a survivor. This would help reduce camping and be good for the game.

Agreed. This can only happen if survivors screw up (someone dies under scourge hook or someone else starts merciless storm regardless of downed survivor) so leave it the way it was.
If it's still problem and you want to limit it, then give cap how long can merciless storm run (say mentioned 10s). But that is not really needed.
Just re-remove dms+pr combo please (you can even revert dms nerf that way).

Both of your problems wouldn't be problems if you weren't lacking the skill to deal with them

yeah, pain res should be reverted and dms should be back at 45 secs.
20 seconds of blocking IF the gen was over 90%, AND the survivor misses a skillcheck, or nerf a mediocre perk (when run alone) and having 30 seconds of blocking, every hook almost (scourges can have awful spread)
good survivors will let go of the gen and just get the regression without the blocking, but it brought back one of the most brain dead debatably op combos the game has seen which is pretty much just a 45 second stall every hook

Honestly, just completely revert the pain res change. It's completely obnoxious with Dead Man's Switch, while the combo with Merciless Storm just... didn't really matter?
1) Even if you run both perks, it's very unlikely to ever actually happen. You need to put a survivor on a scourge hook while someone is already in the middle of merciless storm, that's a pretty rare occurance. Not even once a game.
2) Even if you do get the combo, and even if the survivor fails one of the skill checks - oh, no, the gen is blocked. Like it would have been 100% of the time with the Dead Man's Switch combo anyway.
The merciless storm combo is literally just the same as the DMS combo but with more counterplay and far less likely to occur.
