Open-Handed + Wiretap doesn't synergise. Bug or feature?
As the title says, running Open-Handed will not increase the range that the killer's aura is revealed when using Wiretap on a gen. I'm hoping this is a bug because Open-handed works with Kindred so it would make sense that it should work with Wiretap considering it also has an aura reading radius.
Can a dev confirm if this is a bug or feature?

Mandy already confirmed it’s intentional that they don’t work together.

I guess the burning question is then, what's worse blast mine or wiretap?

Apparently “all” doesn’t mean all. 🤷🏼♂️

Sorry, you’re a survivor. You don’t deserve good perks
8 -
It baffles me why this is the case. 30 meter aura reading around a specific gen isn't broken
1 -
30 meters around 1 gen is not broken, 30 meters around 3-4 gens is 50-90% of the map covered(depending on realm and gen spawn) in perma wall hacks with the killer having to abandon all chases and invest in a 1.8 second animation to get rid of it(per gen) and the killer has no way of knowing if wiretap is in play or not. Do you think old OOO was perfectly balanced too? this is basically that but requiring 4 survivors to run 2 perk each or 50% investment instead of 1/16. 30 meters is almost the size of the standard killer TR(32)

Feature. Just another reason to avoid Open Handed.
2 -
Literally the only perk in the game that doesn’t do anything without at least one other perk. And it can’t even do that job in totality. #BHVR
11 -
Probably blast mine because it takes twice as long to charge and only lasts about half as long

Open handed rework:
For 9s at the beginning of the trial, you see all other survivors auras, they also see your aura
The range of auras for all survivors is increased by 16m and the duration is increased by 2s (this effect does not stack)
There you go, it does something on its own now
7 -
Sure!
2 -
Yes i literally made it the survivor version of lethal, but wouldn't it be nice to know where your team is at the start
2 -
That’s fine, it works! Solves the primary issue I have with the perk.
2 -
its because of a technicality.
It increases the range of aura reading for survivors, but in this case its not a survivor reading auras, its the Gen.

Oh the travesty! Killers having to kick gens?!

Gotta love it when killers create these ridiculous, unlikely worst case scenarios in their head in order to justify not wanting survivors to be able to combo niche perks to make them even more useful than they would be by themselves. Because they like to pretend that every group of survivors they go against are a coordinated, 4-man premade that knows in advance what perks everyone on the team is running.
You seriously think that if Open Handed worked with Wiretap then you're just gonna see 4 random solo Q players in one game all using Wiretap + Open Handed? (If they did then that would mean 3 of the survivors would be wasting a perk slot since their can only be one Open Handed in a trial anyways)
And as someone else here mentioned, all's you literally have to do is kick the damn gen and that's 33% of repair's worth gone right down the drain.
Also, 30 meters is not THAT big. If there were to be four active Wiretaps that close to each other then that means the survivors are all doing gens that are too close to each other instead of spreading out, which would be them 3-genning themselves, throwing the game and making it easier for the killer. So I'm not sure why that scenario would be so bad for them.

I'm sorry but no, guess we can make it so it does not work with kindred either than

the amount of times I see streamers call any survivor they go against a "swf" just because they are outplaying them is ALOT.

Survivors see each others aura all the time,so I don't think that this would be OP.
I run Open Handed in my full info build but wouldn't mind if we explore something like this. Though maybe with all the added stuff the aura reach extention should be reduced? It's already pretty strong with kindred and wall hacks

- It is not "perma wall hacks". The perk has a duration. After the duration expires or the gen is kicked, the survivor has to complete 33% of another generator. I thought this would be obvious from the perk description "which stays active for 60/70/80 seconds" but I guess not.
- There is no reason why I would abandon a chase to kick a gen even if I knew Wiretap was actively tracking me. Survivors get minimal use of Killer aura reading while in chase. It just means that I wouldn't really be able to mindgame many loops.
- Are we just going to pretend that gen kicking isn't the strongest it's ever been and with several gen kicking perks that are meta? Kicking random gens I wonder across while not in chase is almost second nature by now.
- Fearmonger isn't completely uncommon nowadays and is a strong counter if the possibility of a usable Wiretap really bothers you that much.
As it stands now, with a 14 meter radius, the only reason I run this perk is (as a solo survivor) to tell my teammates that I'm about to be in chase. Something SWF get for free.

Only the game breaking ones. Honestly, why are the devs so against a diverse killer OR survivor meta?

Why waste the time?

We are post-patch 6.1.0, remember?

Blast Mine by a mile. Wire tap is still giving kill auras which are useful.

The reason its 16m is because it doesn't stack, if it was 8m I'd make it stack

I believe one of the dev said that both perk is intended not to work.

Still not worth it. Survivors gen tapping has not changed.

1. Semantics, in a swf with comms you can rotate wiretaps easily to have a blanket of aura reading. Again that is why it is limited, for solo queue OH and wiretap is perfectly fine but in a swf on comms it is oppressive. By your logic old OOO was fine and didn't even do anything because auras are weak for survivors.
2. Then the survivors you are vs are potatoes. If you think having aura reading as a survivor does nothing I really don't know what else to say. It also is not only In chase. Picture the game realm with a wiretap in the bathroom, a wiretap in the second floor near the long drop, a wiretap at the center of the map. Each with a 30 M aura reveal range. You will be able to track almost everywhere the killer is going and react with a 60+ meter lead
3. A 2.25 second reduction with a 1.8 second animation investment is strong? Or are you talking about CoB + OC which can be countered by.....gen tapping which does not even have an animation and can be done mid chase
4. I don't even know what this has to do with wiretap + OH being broken in swf. If I'm on a gen my friend can give aura updates over comms. Unless we are all on gens it's a non-issue.
Edit: to make it clear, I don't think it would be OP at all in solo queue for the perks to work together. Sadly, you cannot just balance for solo queue. Just like on the inverse side killers can't get perks designed to counter swf or they will be oppressive to solo queue(see old undying). Old OOO was arguably a weak solo queue perk but was one of the most disgustingly OP perks to exist in this games history, but only when SWF was in play.

Open-Handed extends the range of player Aura-Reading, not Generator's.
Kindred is technically player's Aura-Reading aka ones who's Hooked.
Meaning you, or others depending on situation, see someone else's Aura-reading. Hence the name "Kindred".

wiretap is a horrible perk. its undertuned like most survivor perks, either or nerfed to the ground. survivor role is in gambles. especially solo que? and what are the devs doing? N O T H I N G

Kindred's increased Killer Aura reading is fine as it helps people get survivors off Hook and promotes continual interaction between players.
Wiretap just incentivizes hiding from the Killer or wallhacks in loops without the Survivor having to put in any skin in the game, they just have to continually do their objective and then they can plonk it down, quickly, and can still work on the generator while it's active, giving wallhacks on all non-undetectable Killers letting the Survivor know the best way to navigate away from the generator and circumvent any locational ambiguity with the Terror radius.
All with the only "counter" to this perk is dropping chase, letting survivors move farther away with full knowledge if the Killer is going to kick the gen, and you never know if you should do so at all because wiretap has no tell that it's in play. Nothing with a BP score event for destroying a wiretapped gen, no model on the generator, or even a distinct Break effect spark.
If Wiretap were ever to work with Open Handed the following would need to happen:
If the generator is being repaired, the Aura reading it provides is suppressed. A small model is placed ontop of the generator in a similar fashion to Blastmine. It can only be used once, to be reused you'd need to rummage through a Chest (but nyx the 33% repair requirement).
