dear bhvr, why is every map since eyrie of crows so incredibly survivor sided?

minus the haddonfield rework that one is well balanced in my opinion

I am pretty shocked that Garden of Joy hasn't seen any changes, it probably has some pretty abysmal kill ratings compared to other maps. I think the new RPD maps are pretty fair, I have had pretty even matches going in both directions.

But yeah, Eyrie of Crows and Garden of Joy are demoralizing to enter as killer.

I agree, since Midwich, new maps have no grass.

I think survivors need all the help they can get. It is hard to say maps are survivor sided when every match is a massacre.

"well balanced" ok, your opinion of well balanced is mostly unsafe pallets, lots of open space, and in said open space vehicles where you can be seen clearly through the windows? at least in other maps you have vision moderately blocked both ways to make it harder for both sides to see while looping, and this was the ONE "survivor sided" map at the time of the rework (in quotes because good killers could play around any map, block loops with perk builds, etc)

bigger issue imo is why are they making every map so tiny? there used to be a reason to go to certain maps as killers than others due to it being better for certain terror radius builds, now its starting to be every map, and on that note, if every map is shrinking, why is there a need to keep the new oak offering changes? on survivor side you have to worry about which gen you pop so not to create a 3 gen, thats if the killer isnt trying to force it, yet on killer side, with the exception of maybe one or two maps? you can down a whole group and get everyone to a hook, with that in mind i think we should be able to revert the offering change to perma remove 1 hook (survivor) and add hook (killer) because its not like it used to be where hooks dont respawn, or even that you have to run a perk for them to respawn (though imo if there was a perk for it, they shouldnt of made it basekit just so "players arent forced to run a perk" its a perk based game, what do they expect? some perks will undoubtedly be better than others on both sides)

Haddonfield has too many windows to be balanced. Most of the buildings should have one loop or the other not two or even three. If you need to bring Bamboozle to make a map fair that's not fair to the killer.

Garden of Joy and Haddonfield are perfect examples of maps that are "kind" of fair if you have bamboozle. That's stupid.

-"bigger issue imo is why are they making every map so tiny?"

Imagine if killers that move at 115% or slower did not play maps larger than 9000m². That means only Nurse and Blight would play Sheltered woods, Crow map and many others. That would be pretty fair to killer because those two killers do fine on big maps.

The more fair thing to do is make all maps be about 9000m² or smaller. Take a look for example at the farm maps. Realms can be found here if you didn't know : https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Realms .

Abattoir is 8704m² and you absolutely feel how much smaller it is compared to every other corn map (9728, 9984, 10,240, 10,752). What is gross is that these maps used to be smaller. Small maps with little exception are more fair to the killer (pig with AGI carrying people away from the boxes they need is one example).

Imagine if a survivor used a corn map offering and the killer got to pick which tileset he wanted to play. Killers would always choose Abattoir because it is the least bad map from the tile set.

They've done small shadow changes to Garden of Joy

There used to be a pallet that spawned below the generator god window. That pallet never spawns anymore, it's gone

I also think they shifted around a tile or two/changed the main building window spawn logic since there can only be 2 windows on the lower floor when I think all 3 were open by default.

I absolutely hate garden of joy map. Theres way too many safe pallets and the main house is horrendous to deal with, and lets not even talk about the iron bushes that have made a comeback in this map. Usually i end up losing hard there unless i get 0 hour survivors. Crow map... its bad but its not as bad as garden of hell and haddonfield... Sigh.. Those houses gives me nightmares.

I think killers need all the help they can get. It is hard to say maps are killer sided when every match is a loopfest with all the pallets scattered on the map.

To me, most newest maps have been kinda shifted in balance and are easier to play for most killers with a few exceptions like MacMillan, who can no longer properly hide bear traps in grass.

Haddonfield kinda lacks pallets, and literally every single killer is gonna catch up to you. If it's Bubba, you're doomed, because there are almost no pallets and.. There are no obstacles to force his chainsaw hit objects and lose a chase. Once all pallets are done, only one or two generators are finished in most cases in Solo Queue, mid to high MMR. If the killer has Dead Man's Switch and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, sometimes even packed with Jolt, you can literally give up, unless two or more survivors do have Prove Thyself (nobody runs this in Solo Queue).

Midwich is heavily killer sided in mid to high MMR, if the killer is Billy, Blight, or some other killer alike. Like before, get Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Dead Man's Switch, and they'll kinda win the match for you. However, the moment survivors stick to doing generators and actually know the map layouts in high MMR, it becomes so survivor sided that it's not even funny..

R.P.D. became killer sided the moment they've cut the map short. There are almost no pallets, and most of them are unsafe aswell. You can hear two generators or even more from one spot at the same time, giving you a clear idea as to where survivors are - Barbecue & Chilli, Spies From The Shadows.. Those perks aren't necessary. If you can get Corrupt Intervention with Dead Man's Switch, Deadlock, and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance.. You've basically let perks play for you and automatically win you the match.

What I must mention is that most matches are dependable on the very first two or three chases; The moment a chase lasts too long, the killer is supposed to drop it. Thing is, most killers nowadays don't like the idea and do rather pursue the chase even if it lasts over two minutes, and then do make a „surprising Pikachu“ face and behave like that they've been forced to tunnel and camp from the get-go.
