Who Thought It Was Cool To Remove Our Ping Indicator At The Lobby Screen?!
I was just in a match in with 3 Chinese teammates. I'm from America, Man. It wasn't even a match. I couldn't do anything without getting hit. Bring that ######### back, Man.
(Edit: Took 2 words out because I've calmed down and didn't want to come off as attacking someone.)

It was a nonsensical change.

I think they did a pretty good job so far.

The indicator lets me know if I should dodge a lobby. ANYONE who has been in a lobby past 80 can attest that skill goes out the window when you get wind shuriken'd by a killer no matter what you do at any window or pallet. Its even worse against fast and insta-down killers. Seeing it IN-GAME does nothing for me. So you want me to deal with super trash lag during the entire match and not dc after already going against something that might be super frustrating all because you want us to play games against others who might be VPN'ing or put us in a server against people across the world? Nah, Dude. You have me twisted on this. I try to be neutral. I try to not be over-the-top but come on. This wasn't even a healthy change. You're literally screwing your players.

I was in that match for like 4 minutes before getting 3 hooked. I legit was getting hit behind pallets, before throwing pallets, around corners and I was even interrupted on RPD from fast vaulting over the big drop near the helicopter and got halfway before being teleported into the killers' arms. I was like #########, Man.

It's pretty bad on US West coast if you happen to play in the dead of night. I mostly play after midnight and most of my teams have VPN's from China and thus multiple people with 200-300 ping.

Europe is not much better not only do you get American/Chinese/Australian players that use vpn you also naturally have russian players with insanely bad ping.
Edit: And what makes it even weirder, sometimes I have been put on a server where both me and all four survivors had 200+ ping.

Fr, only showing Red isint all we need.

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the shallow player pool. It's wide, but not deep enough to match people within their MMR, in a reasonable time. So yeah, you're going to get players from China because BHVR weighs queue time about as much as skill-pairing.
I would much rather wait to get someone in my skill range AND have a ping filter so I'm matched with someone close by. Let me make the choice on if I want fair lobbies in lieu of quick ones.
This is yet another indication by BHVR that they consider this a very casual game and not to take games that seriously.. so maybe I shouldn't get too mad about it.
In any case, I think it was a bad move to remove that ping indicator. It might not have worked as well as it should, but at least it was something.

I hope it's not an intended change
But I fear that BHVR, through a twisted af reasoning, decided that it was for the best and removed it with the plan of adding it in a slightly different way in 6 months time

I feel like they should auto end the match if the ping between players is too high. I've been seeing this a lot more recently and other games have a auto kick for any lag spike occurring. The problem with this idea however is that it can be abused using what's called a lag switch in order to have an advantage in the match. You guys got to know there is only so much a company can do to fix this sort of problem and ideally the one that helps is turning off xrossplay when you're seeing it a lot more. If Dbd ever really pushed a competitive angle for DBD then it would make sense to add in these things so they could preserve the competitive yolk as it were.

This. My ping in a lobby is usually 19-30ms. If it's 40+, something's wrong and in-trial is going to be much higher, sometimes unplayable. In their new system the yellow icon doesn't even show until something like 90ms. Are you kidding? It's like they're promoting DCs.

Tfw people have been asking to see also the killer's ping in the lobby since dedicated servers day 1 release and bhvrs response is to remove ping indicators entirely 🤡

Yes. I want to know in lobby. If the devs are worried that people will lobby dodge bad ping or something then all I can say is good, we *should* be able to do that. No one wants to waste their time. If I have bad ping I'm absolutely okay with people lobby dodging me.

Kinda baffled by this as well.

Hey, you can now see the Killers ping!
....when you are in the game already and it is way too late...
