Iri ranks too tryhard
And once again I find myself in Iridescent ranks, where it's impossible to pip unless I literally play like a stupid #########. Kill the survivors too quick?
Depip.
Let even one get out?
######### depip.
I'll get Iri one(again) but honest question to my fellow killers and survivors as well? Do you enjoy the Iridescent pip system? Because I think it's garbage. Just had a Mikaela carry the whole game for her team she would have got hatch but oops I'm in Iri so I have to play like a merciless sweatlord.
Can People who get iri be rewarded instead of punished? Not even the sweat but just the rankings?
🍻 cheers

Ranks don't matter though, why care so much about something that just shows time played for the current month.

The pip system makes this game more competitive than it should be. We'll never have a balanced game with 4v1 but when survivors and killers depip if they've played well it adds to frustration.
This game should have NO competitive elements but that's quite impossible.

3K should be enough for +1 pip if you played well but not too well like killing everyone at start of match. 4K however gives the +2 pip that's why I don't give hatch once I reach iri 4 but once I reach iri 1 I give hatch again. But it's easy to reach iri 1 on killer compared to on survivor. Survivor I maybe reach it on last days before grade reset or don't reach at all.

Yeah those survivors dying on second hook cost you devious point but I think if you would catched last survivor once and hooked you could pipped. But sometimes one just hides whole match and is very hard to find. Chaser category is bit tricky too you actually have to slug survivors to max it out that's why I sometimes keep slugging last 2 survivor not for 4K but fot maximising that category.

Pips are supposed to be designed around encouraging fair play, with the original idea being that you needed to do stuff like not camp/tunnel/etc in order to pip at higher ranks. Unfortunately there has been an ongoing war between multiple emblems for multiple killers for a while, where they generally have to decide between deviousness and brutality (but can rarely get both evenly) which at least thankfully doesn't apply to all of them. There also absolutely needs to be a reevaluation on scoring events contributions to them, as someone like legion can double pip by accident while not even getting many kills, especially compared to someone like plague or the instadown killers who straight up gimp their own emblems and score categories. Its like the same problem on survivor side with both avenues, the survival emblem requires not going down, not dying, or surviving for a while to get their maximums, with anything short of escape being no more than a silver at best (and the points relying heavily on that escape bonus.)
The requirements basically havent been updated to address the game, and still work as if Rank was what determined matchmaking. Since its basically just a determination for your monthly BP bonus, they should be adjusted to reflect that.

I don't care about Grades at all. I just play a match or two a night and whatever my Grade is at the end of the period is what it is. 🤷♂️

I don't camp or tunnel even in silver. I still depip if I don't basically farm the survivors which when I've clearly won can't be fun for them.
"Hey Meg I'm going to let you struggle out so I can blink and down your teammates some more while you recover with Sloppy and coulrophobia!"
How is this fun for anyone?

wait you're playing nurse? that's your problem,if you want to pip you need to be playing dead by daylight

Bro stop. I play all Killers but once you get to gold it's meta or teabag. Artist Cenobite and Nurse are my mains but I still get stomped by swfs on the daily.
Try playing Nurse. Seriously.
It took me a year to get good with her then another year after her nerf.

I actually disagree. Iri rank is the least of tryhard ranks. Most people feel safe in iri ranks with guaranteed big amounts of bp and no depiping. People try ridiculous stuff in iri ranks they usually wouldn't in lesser ranks.

I think for killer it is pretty ridiculous, but imo it's very easy to get to iri. Iri should be as hard as getting to grand champ on rocket league. So many people that are iri r trash at the game. But yes I do agree the point system and rank system for killer is wack, for survivor it's pretty good if not too easy

I can pip all the way to iri 1 rank by letting 2 survivors go every match.

I really don't understand this thread...Ranks as before don't exist anymore. The only thing that they indicate is the time played. Everyone is eventually gonna get to Iri 1 if they play enough. It has nothing to do with matchmaking or people you are facing.
2 -
bro grades dont even matter for matchmaking
why do you care so much? just play the game normally and youll eventually hit Iri 1. No need to go out of your way to get it
2 -
Stop worrying about whether or not you pip.
Play the game the way you enjoy most--that is the only thing that matters.
The pip system only matters when you're going for killer adept, otherwise there is no reason to look at it.

The difference between Iri 4 and Iri 1 is double. 500k at iri 4, 1m at iri 1. 500k is nice, but it's not really that much. Also, you don't completely stop de-pipping until iri 1. Iri 2-4 is the same as gold/silver/etc., just with the neutral and pip markers moved, painfully, further to the right. Iri 1 is uber chill, though. Once I hit that I don't sweat anything.

I know what u mean. The system of pipping is a bit bad designed, because it depends on other players. If survivors suicide, you cant get a promotion.

Merciless sweatlord 😆

Yeah going from gold IV to iri 2 is awful, I hate depiping. I like letting survivors live if they are obviously new and loads of other reasons but if I'm in that zone, NOPE NO FUN ALLOWED. I'll still never tunnel, camp or hook the same guy consecutively. Well at least not on purpose, if you've all got the same skins and I can't tell you apart that one is on you!
Regardless though I still have a lot less fun at Gold 4 to iri 2. It's even worse because some killers are straight up much better at pipping then others. Extremely flawed system.

Pips and grades have 0 effect on matchmaking. Your SBMM / MMR rank is hidden to us lowly consumers - you have no idea what ranks you are going up against, or what level you are at personally.
Regardless - in any multiplayer game whenever I see anyone complain about 'tryharding' I just hear 'I only have fun if other people aren't trying.' What are people supposed to do, take a stroll and enjoy the scenery? If you want a casual experience, play custom matches, learn to accept losses and de-ranking (which will lead to easier matches eventually), or play a different game.
"Oops I'm in Iri so I have to play like a merciless sweatlord" - you do realize that if you have a match like this and let someone escape, you will actually be lowering your rank giving yourself easier matches later right? Choosing to 'sweat' because you're 'in Iri' makes your MMR rise in level... seemingly the opposite of your goals (and also means you are engaging in the very behavior that annoys you in the first place).

Although it had its own flaws, I miss Red Ranks. That’s all I gotta say.

It’s about blood points not mmr. At least that’s what it is for me. I prefer playing nice and letting people go for a variety of reasons but doing this while between gold 4 and iri 2 risks depipping or not pipping up which means being a jerk for longer when I don’t want to be. The sooner I get to iri 1, the sooner I can stop feeling like a jerk. I could simply not care about blood points but heaven forbid I actually want to unlock things.
Besides it’s not like mmr is visible actually works in this game anyway. With how low I should be rated every match should be a stomp until I decide to let them go. Not the case.

That's a fair enough point @Slowpeach - it just seemed at first glance that OP was taking issues with the feel of the game at high ranks, not that the issue was gaining points, maybe I'm wrong.
With the new queue incentive bonuses, lowering bloodweb item costs, Rift / Tome challenges, seasonal payouts, and giveaway codes - I've been having trouble spending enough between matches to avoid hitting the cap. I've not once ever checked on my pips status since they made the changes to rank / grades. But then again I'm a big DbD-nerd who plays this more than I probably should >_>
I too prefer letting people escape, or just playing for the memes, so I get that. It's why I mostly play survivor because I'm always feeling like but I don't want to be mean lol. I've never had to adjust my playstyle to maximize bloodpoints, but I can sympathize with the sentiment. Do you think the seasonal payout would be better for game health if it truly was just about hours put in, and didn't use pips at all?
0 -
@allMadhere Yup. Should be merely about time or at least hooks and objectives, not outright win/lose.
The other issue too is that some killers are actively punished by the system. Plague and Myers as two examples off the top of my head tend to pip less because they get fewer hits in. That’s just silly.

I usually let the last survivor go. Or the one who carried the team or an obvious newbie. I've been playing this game half a decade I don't need to 4k I don't have ######### to prove. Iri ranks are such a slow painful grind tho I'll go back to getting my ass kicked in Elden Ring.
It shouldn't be like that though 😕
