Why aren't Hatch Offerings secret?
Knowing the hatch's location is heavily in the killer's favor.
There's only one scenario where it could ever be in the survivor's favor:
- The corresponding structure is present on the map (the offering spawns hatch at shack and the map has a shack)
- The survivor has a key
- That survivor is the last remaining survivor
- The hatch did not spawn between both exit gates, and is far away from the killer's patrol path between gates or any tall sight vantages that might be used to watch the gates

That is a very good question. I've always considered these a hindrance and never run them for this reason.
It can be in the survivor's favor if the killer isn't paying attention at the offerings screen or forgets. And if the final hook occurs far away from where the hatch has been set, the killer won't have enough time to reach it if the other survivor is camping the spot. So it's not quite as limited as you say. But the killer definitely has an edge on both reaching the location and choosing to base their endgame near there (chasing/hooking in that direction) so that they can access it before it has a chance to spawn.
It makes way more sense as a hidden offering.

I did wonder that as well... It'll give more "OH... What's that" rather then "oh... it's one of 2 things"

Mostly because both sides can play them, and if the killer played one it would be even more in their favor if it was secret.
A better question is why do the survivors have an offering to control basement.

Hatch offerings shouldn't even exist.

This. Most of the complaints surrounding old keys and hatch could have been less exasperated if the devs never created these offerings. It should always be RNG.

Overall, I think they should add more secret offerings. You see a killer bring a secret offering and you know it's always a mori. Doesn't matter what color mori it is. But if there were more, it'd make the game more interesting.

Eh, keys needed to be nerfed regardless of the offerings. But I agree, neither side should be able to influence that.

Thats only because they have the shroud offerings backwards and no killer wants survivors spawning on 4 different gens, I would totally use the shroud of binding as a killer

Yeah, that's true. I wish you could have all the shroud offerings on both sides tbh
