I don't know what devs are thinking, but at certain maps advantage of using it is much too much strong, when you have to go outside buildings etc.I couldn't go out through door in front of me no matter what. It was that Shape map, you know which

You can drop the survivor and leave them slugged.

Don't waste your time carrying them if you know they are just going to break free anyways.

At this point, it isn't, at least not on its own. You just need to consider your pathing carefully so that you can drop ASAP. It's an annoying perk, but it's not really threatening anymore - and when it is, it's about as much so as any other anti-hook perk.

The fact that it can drag you around while trying to get through narrow doorways is more obnoxious than overpowered. It can be nasty, especially on console, but it's super unreliable.

Use it and you’ll see it’s a situational perk that gets most of its value from new or inexperienced killers. Once you know they have it. Manually locate the closest hook & plan your route before you pick that person up. But don’t take too long because they most likely are running flip flop along with it.

It may be just me, but in my personal experience boil over was much more manageable with a controller.

That’s definitely just you, have seen plenty people saying the same (especially before the rework? I think they tuned the numbers down after the rework/PTB). Especially through doors boil over can be a massive pain, when I switch to M&K it’s almost not even noticeable that the surv is struggling at all..

I don't agree with you guys. I can always escape when I use Boil Over when I'm inside buildings with that perk. After some updates struggling is much stronger and on top of that this perk. In open spaces I agree, it is annoying but not so much. But in narrow places it is overpowered.

I use mouse on Xbox, but still it is overpowered. I gain much of control with K&M but it still sucks

and carry them to other survivors maybe? I want to kill someone at least , sorry, not kill but at least hook, that doesn't guarantee any success. of course I could use Iron Grasp ,but if I would like to counterfeit all annoyances then I couldn't use any better perks. Survivors have 16 of them together, killer only 4.

I can conquer any killer with that perk for instance when inside of building in Crotonus or inside buildings on Shape map, just any killer with K&M, that are the facts .

A decent killer is gonna figure out that you have it, and then just slug you anytime they down you and arent in a position to hook you. Eventually they will either catch you in the open, or you'll bleed out from being slugged so many times.

Survivor perks that I've seen people complaining about in this forum

    Calm Spirit

    Resurgence

    Any Means Necessary

    Deliverance

    Left Behind

    Fast Track

    Detective's Hunch

and now Boil Over, even after the nerf

Boil Over isn't even strong. It's super easy to counter.

Any Means Necessary, really? That is a meme perk and not even strong in the best of situations, it could be maaaaaaybe considered a QOL perk that allows you to reuse a cool palette if it wasn't destroyed, but really, when I see someone resetting a palette I chuckle.

Fast Track though I never really understood. How is it used, whats the issue with it? Even at max stacks it somehow doesn't seem that crazy to me. So do people keep the stacks and never make great skill checks on purpose the whole game till the very last gen and then clutch it with some 24% in one go?

Boil Over sucks, it's only good against controller/console baby killers

Boil Over is countered by strafing/crab-walking, you can even use it as a speed boost to get to the hook if you can read the rhythm.

The only time it brings value is if the killer doesn't see the nearest hook. Which after being bitten once by the perk, the killer can glance around before picking up.

Boil Over is only strong if a killer refuses to strafe or look around.

I've never lost a survivor due to the shaking from boil over on pc as killer. On survivor I've never wiggled out using boil over. 0% success rate for a silly perk. At worst you clip something for half a second as you strafe against it aiming for the doorway.

I am surv main and play sabo builds. Believe me. Boil over is the wakest one of the sort. Saboteur is better because killers sometimes use scourge without agitation/grasp and carry long distance (if you have position). Flip flop (+unbreak) takes much more wiggle time if someone can pretend flashsave threat. Breakout takes much more time then going to doorway on 2nd try once every 50 games. Also killers never need to drop now (like on crows main top are always 2 hooks) so forget about dropping bonus - which is useless anyway, because if killers drop they do it immediatelly and it grants bonus from current wiggle = no bonus.

The only reason to ever use boil over is to blok aura of nearest hook. And even below-avarage killers will notice it these days (also killers don't need single hook so it does not matter anyway if there isn't someone ready to capitalize on this oversight).

On the contrary I have seen this perk destroy chance to wiggle out by allowing killer to block breakouting survivor to run in front of killer and taking a single hit to wiggle free.

Overall. Yes I am for nerfing this perk. It's already so bad, that no survivor should be tricked into equiping it in hopes it does something useful. Sabo playes are already pretty hard/niche (considering absurd hook density lately (with exception to midwitch)) even without this perk taking up a perk slot.

Also... You got tricked by the only marginally useful thing on the perk - hiding the aura of hook. There was a hook in that building on top floor

It was strong. Now it's a meh perk. It's fine the way it is.
