“De-Pipping” should be no more.
In my personal opinion I think the action of “de-pipping” with grade progress should be eliminated. Especially when it comes to survivors and solo queues but to make things easier just implement it for all parties.
Too many factors play into whether or not you progress in grade through dbd. For solo survivors you are at the mercy of your team. It doesn’t matter how well you play. If your team is jacked up at best you will stabilize your current pip. Most commonly you will lose progress and time.
So I think survivors and killers should no longer “de-pip”. You either earn a pip or you don’t but you shouldn’t lose any.

You no longer depip down a grade and still not happy.

Grades have nothing to do with matchmaking, devs have said they only represent time played, and you can't even see eachothers grades so it doesn't even have bragging rights attached to it. Since they have 0 to do with matchmaking and are supposed to represent time played then negative pips should no longer be a thing since you don't spend negative time in a match. If you don't do enough to pip then a 0 pip does the job of showing you did not do enough to pip.
It'd also probably make players feel better and want to keep playing if they don't receive negative pips. Kind of like how they changed "entity displeased" to "entity hungers" because of how the original wording made people feel crappy - getting a negative pip as survivor after being first downed/camped or as killer because you used your instadown power feels crappy.
Edit: typos

Playing against good survs will be less stressful as well, because I know that I will lose but I'll not de-pip and just try again in next match.

No longer depiping from a grade was a nice change that I am grateful for. However, just because a system was improved once doesn’t mean it can’t be improved even more. Criticism shouldn’t be discouraged.

I will never play 2 killer games in a row, because if I get 4K, then next match I'll get destroyed by survivors way better than me.
I constantly switch killers so I can get to higher grades, which means more BP when grade resets.
If we couldn't de-pip, then I would play like 10 games in a row on a pig, which I really like, because I wouldn't be worried-stressed about losing progress and I could just play for fun, even if I get 0K, it would be OK.
Similar with playing survivor, It's so stressful when you're 1 or 2 from next grade and because of your team mates or killer just destroying everyone, you de-pip, sometimes even in a row and you lose all progession you had.
When something like this happens I lose any will to play the game for a few days.
There are also challenges that can ruin your whole game, so I wait and only do them when I get to next grade and have 0 progress.

I love the game and I think that its in a better state then it has ever been before, if you dont count the crazy first years.
But now that rank and grades are no longer used for match making, de-pipping serves no purpose. On one hand people say "grade is no skill indicator anymore, its monitors how much you played that month", while on the other hand they say "removing the de-pipping would take away all excitement and skill requirement, giving free BP to everyone".
So what do you want? Do you want the grades to reflect skill? But right now we can't flex with our awesome Iri1 grades, because its hidden from everyone besides friends in SWFs lobbies. Or do you want to make it a reward for loyal players who came back time and time again to play your game? You can't have the Escape cake AND eat it, so please make up your mind.
I would prefer that it was, indeed, a reward. So please, please, PLEASE take away de-pipping. Its a relic of the old ranks system and serves no purpose besides being extremely frustrating and unfun at times.
Everyone knows the pain of being in gold or iri, 4 pips, and then a series of unforseen events sends you tumbling down to 1 or even zero pips. As a killer it is pretty hard in the Iri region to pip at all and a good SWF group can easily make you de-pip just by denying you any success. But as survivors its even worse: you could be camped as the first survivor being found in that trial with no chance at all. Or somewhat even more frustrating: earlier this day I had a game with an afk killer. I did my gens, I cleansed a totem, open a chest .. and still de-piped. Well, thanks for that one, no I am back to start.
I am a killer main, and I love to give survivors who played well the hatch or relax the tension a bit after two survivors died and the last two sorta "give up", by memeing with them. But when I am in the Iri grades and get like 3 pips, I just can't effort that. In a game plagued with toxicity and players feeling hopeless after getting stomped, the de-pipping system does nothing to help the situation, but actually increases the problems. When I am just one or two pips from grading up I frankly don't give hatch, I don`t relax my playstyle and I play as sweaty as it gets. Its actually a real relieve when I finally hit Iri1 with killer, usually a week before grade reset and I finally can play the game the way I like and not play "balls to the walls" every single time. I am definitely not the only one who thinks so and it would be way more healthy for the game to just count your good games until you reach Iri 1 and don't bother with the bad ones, besides DCs. DCs are the only valid reasons IMHO that warrant to take a pip away.
And now a dirty, little secret at the end: some people have suggested a method that works pretty well if you struggle with pipping up in the Iri grades, and I tried it out for the first time this month. You go for two hook and don't kill anyone, not even the dirty SWF bullies who really try to get under your skin. Let everyone escape scot free, 8 hooks being the max you go for. Do so till you drop in MMR deep enough that you notice that the baby survivors around you are too afraid of you, dont do gens and dont go for saves. When peple start dying on first hook, even though you are at the other side of the map, shift gears, play as sweaty as possible, dont show mercy and just burst through 2 grades in 5 games by getting a mercyless rating every game. Just dont kill them too fast and shoot for 12 hooks.
Is this a playstyle that you want to promote? Smurfing is nothing new and some people do it regularly. I didn't enjoy doing it, as it probably ruined the experience of the 6 games or so that I utterly stomped, but I am adapting. So please, dont force people to adapt this way. I would hit Iri 1 naturally each month by playing in my MMR bracket, just by the occasional stelar game that garners me a pip, IF de-pipping wasnt a thing

Except when its advocating for the complete removal of any consequence.

I don't know I think depipping still has a purpose. I know if I'm playing a killer game and let's say I'm 2 minutes in and I know that I'm against really good survivors who outclass me, alright I'm gonna lose So I'm just gonna afK in the corner so this game ends faster because I don't have to worry about de-pipping.
At least now I have the incentive of continuing to play because I'm like OK I'm not gonna pip but I gotta make sure that I safety pip. And then sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised because I go from oh I'm not gonna pip to Kay I got a safety pip to Oh cool I ended up pipping

I need 1 more to get to higher grade on killer and I'm dodging lobbies where survivors have high prestige and switching killers. I just don't want to risk and then lose progression, like on survivor when people kill themselves on first hook or dc and then I lose progression.

I lose pips all the time rt afk killers. Unfair. I work hard to rank up but can never get past GII. Granted I work a 45+ hr a week job and a family to take care for, And can only play in the evenings . Which is why it is so unfair. If I were a professional DVD player I would be iridescent all the time.
We should NOT lose pips , plus the whole pip system is really just to award bloodpoints now, no one else sees our rank now right? it rewards full time DBD players and that's it.

Nope 😁🤣🤣🤣

This would be nice. I finally got to IR1 survivor side yesterday but man it was a frustrating journey from IR3 to 1. I don’t want bragging rights or gamer clout, just the stupid blood points that pop on the 13th.
I’ve had killer IR1 for a while now. I think the difference is the survivor pipping criteria are less forgiving than killer-side. Another solution would be to adjust the survivor badge criteria to at least 0 or +1 so long as you weren’t a total potato in the match. Like consider time in chase along with chase outcome. Or time spent within x meters of the killer without showing up in their viewport (rewarding sneakiness) or without becoming target of a chase (rewarding boldness). Not sure where my morphing to become one with the bushes would fall there, but presumably somewhere. 😛

Depipping should stay as a punishment to people who DC. Otherwise, I agree, it shouldn’t be a thing.

I've never been higher than Gold IV and I rarely even get out of Silver on either side. Everyone tells me that it's just a matter of how much you play, but no it's not.
I am not a selfish player, though I have started to be more lately, and honestly this is the reason. I realized that my problem was that I was being too altruistic. I was being a team player. I was saving my teammates when they get hooked. I was taking protection hits, then getting hooked myself... then they don't return the favor, and I depip.
So like others have said, do we really want to encourage me to be selfish and make sure I survive, others on my team can get rekt? Cause really that's what is seeming like.
Killer side is similar. I don't camp and I don't tunnel, so many times because I don't, I might get 1K in a match, but because I didn't get that kill bonus I depip. So if I want to not depip, I need to camp and tunnel to create the pressure needed to secure my 4K. SO I need to camp and tunnel... yet I don't because I think that kind of gameplay is not fun for me and not fun for survivors especially.
Call me idealistic, but this is a game. It should be fun, not just for me but for you too. But too many players have this "It's not my job to make sure you have fun." idea, and while technically true, it's a big reason why Dead by Daylight is one of the most toxic communities. This isn't how it should be.
