Both Blast Mine AND Wiretap need buffs
"Bug fix" or not. Having blast mine go away after it runs out severely hurts the perk. Especially considering how much gen progress you need to even activate it.
Now personally I think it should both the same 33% and 80 seconds that wiretap is. But if some deem that too strong then 50% of a gen would be an adequate buff and give it the 80 second duration.
Wiretap I personally think is fine for the most part. I just think its range just needs to be buffed to 20 meters. Then it'll be perfect. I just feel like 14 is just way too small of a radius.
What do you guys think?

I was doing Wiretap + Blast Mine + Open Handed + Red Herring for a while so the entire team could watch the killer get blown up

I love Wiretap and it now has a permanent place on my perk list with Windows. But man Wiretap sometimes feels just a hair too short distance wise. I also wish it would work on Stealth Killers but realistically that would be such a nerf to stealth killers that I understand why it doesn't work that way.

FYI according to the devs Wiretap doesn't stack with Open-Handed.

Yeah, Wiretap's radius is actually pretty decent, that's probably why! 😄
I do like Open-Handed though, it's a really solid perk even though it doesn't stack with this one perk.
P.S. I played a match tonight against a team where one of the survivors had multiple Wiretaps and Alerts, and at least one Kindred. Unfortunately for them I had Third Seal and Undying. 😈

I think it's amazing tbh. Especially with a map offering? On Temple of Purgation the downstairs gen was giving wallhacks on the killer upstairs and i'm sure that will translate well to maps like Midwich, The Game, or other multifloor maps.
Or maybe some Wiretap + Shadowstep on Lery's? That would be insanely safe assuming you don't have to leave the totem to get an unhook or something

I think wiretap can have the meter increase to 18 instead of 14.
I also think blastmine should be reverted back to what it was before it was fine

P.S. Looks like you replied while I added a bit more about my match tonight which had two survivors with Wiretap and Alert, one with Kindred, and I had Third Seal and Undying. I guess they didn't see that coming!

Wiretap is fine, the last thing we need is wall hacks every gen a killer goes near.
Blastmine honestly is annoying since there is 0 counter to it and no indication of it. Either kick the gen halfway to get blinded and waste time or leave the gen to not be able to regress.

For Blast Mine I understand the cooldown, for me the issue with Blast Mine is that you have to touch a generator for 3 seconds to even place it. The activation time might be a bit faster IMO too, because lets be honest, if you placed one, it takes forever to get a second one and the killer often kicks the gen anyway. I dont think Blastmine is powerful enough to impact a killers game too much.
As for Wiretap, well, I do consider the 14 meters to be fine, because Open Handed exists. But I'd say the cooldown is basically there just to create 3 tiers. Instead I would say 10/12/14 meters of aura reading. People might say that it would give too much info, but lets be honest, even on a map like Midwich, having 4 wiretaps and Open Handed might give a huge range of vision, IF the killer never damages the generators.
Maybe there is an issue with generators being completed, and that would be a fair statement as that would be perma vision, but even then, I wouldnt really think too much of it. Because to finish multiple generators with Wiretap active is a difficult task, and it would be a natural reward.

Open Handed does not make the aura reading on Wiretap larger. That said 14 meters is still further than people realize.

Can be combined with Repressed alliance to keep your radar active and the killer cant kick it. And I love Wiretap on multi floor maps because it tells you if the killer approaches you or is on a different level. That saves so much gen time. And knowing from where the killer approaches if he really approaches you also helps just not running into him. A better Premonition perk imho
Of course it can be difficult to work on trapped gens then ^_^' although wiretap is available earlier, so you could install the radar a second before repressed alliance activates

Yeah, but Eruption is one of us killers perks, so its noble and precious and must be protected, while your Wiretap is a survivor perk and debased and despicable.
Jokes aside, Wiretap has the potential to be really strong. Strong perls aren't a bad thing, but Kindred plus Open Handed has shown me how OP longlasting wallhacks are and how much it trivialises looping and renders all of the killers mindgames void, because there are no mindgames.
I still love the idea, but 80s wallhacks are a dangerous idea. I would like something like a Wiretap symbol on each survivors screen that acted like the cat from Spine Chill, ie shows proximity of the killer in relation to the gen, but not outright wallhacks. I think this would also be more in line with the "lore" behind it, ie some spy gadget that peeps, but no x-ray vision. With this you could also have a comfortable radius.
Regarding Blastmine, yeah that was a totally uncalled for and harsh nerf, and I am not saying that because I am an avid Blastmine user myself. Everytime I get hit by a Blastmine myself I jerk back and then smile a little and think "well played". Even with the old system you rarely got two successful Blastmines off. Best bet was when you were chased off a 80%+ gen to leave it there as a parting gift and even then the killer might chose to chase you for its entire duration. But right now with it fizzling out and wasting 59s of gen time? Oof, thats harsh for just a little stun in a non-critical situation.

Tofu had a theory that this "bugfix/nerf" is just an accidential change that came inline with the new perk as it used the same mecahnic behind to trigger or whatever

It does 100%. However, the devs have confirmed that Wiretap is an exception and haven't updated the description.
If you're not sure why it doesn't combine run Kindred and Open Handed if you haven't already, see how much info you get, and then imagine that for most of the match on multi level maps.

I'd advocate for an 18m radius on wiretap and a 50% gen progress + additional 10 second duration on blastmine, or they revert the change to blastmine as a now intentional feature. Either of those blastmine changes would be fine and yeah, wiretap could use a slightly bigger radius.

Isn't that kind of dumb? Open-Handed does nothing on it's own, it's literally a perk that just buffs other perks. "Open-Handed increases ALL Aura-reading ranges". If they went out of their way to purposefully exclude Wiretap (even tho the way the perk is described to work there's no reason that should be the case) maybe they should nerf Open-Handed and let it work with Wiretap. Or make it percentage based. Increases the range by 25% instead of 16m.

I think Wiretap’s radius is fine- making it 20 would be a bit much and hard for the killer to mind game at the next tile over. But I agree with a lot on here saying that both should be indefinite until gen is kicked or complete.

It is such a minor stun and if you were in a position to kick a gen it's really negligible. It's practically a meme perk, it doesn't need such strict rules.

Every second of a match kinda matters for killer, so getting stunned halfway while kicking and then having to kick it again is kinda annoying. I would be totally fine if it blinded at the end of kicking

It was something I noticed since my friend and I ran what I called the "A-hole" build after the first RE chapter. Head-on, quick and quiet, flashbang, and blast mine.
Typically we only used it for blind or stin challenges or when we get sick of being camped or tunneled. At least if we get camped/tunneled after a couple head on/flashbang combos, we get it. We earned it.
But yeah, there's a little flashbang grenade on top of the gen with a little bit of smoke when it's trapped. I bet wire tap has some kind of similar tell, but I haven't used it since the PTB, so I haven't looked.

Personally I think the devs didnt manage to make it stack and decided not to bother. The game code, as we all know, is a giant mess.

There kinda is one, actually.
Open Handed extends the aura reading ability of all Survivors. The Wiretap is a trap that is placed onto a generator, and is therefore not a Survivor, and therefore doesn't benefit from Open Handed.
As much as I think it should to give this niche perk combo some actual use, it also makes sense from both a lore perspective and a gameplay perspective (a 4man using 4x Wiretap + 1x Open Handed on a small-ish map is practically a guaranteed 80 seconds of constant wallhacks).

Which is a Survivor who has been hooked not a separate entity like a trap.
Also, if you're managing to get Kindred to work from 4 different points on the map you've lost the game without a very lucky 4%, which then takes away one of your Kindred procs. So it still works from a lore and gameplay perspective

I don't really get your point. it's not the generator that sees the aura. It's survivors.
If you meant it like "yeah but it's a range from survivors", other survivorts see the killer from within a range that isn't dependant on their own bodies. So, that nullifies the argument that it is "a range necessarily coming from yourself as the starting point".
The fact that it works for kindred means it should work for wiretap.

Tested and confirmed. I don't understand why they bothered adding a physical graphic to it if the killer cannot see it. We already see the aura. No reason for there to be a physical grenade on top for us. I just assumed it was there for the killer to be able to counter it. That is nonsensical.

Yeah, bit late, but I found out. And 14 meter is a lot, IF multiple people are running it. I think 14 meters is fine, but I do feel like Open Handed and Wiretap is a fair combo. The only "bad" part about it is that the killer doesnt know.
So I'd say: let the killer know that they are being spotted thanks to Wiretap, cap the distance at 20 meters(14 meters is not large enough to see a killer coming and get away. Even on The Game or Midwich barely gives info, even with the 80 seconds, unless all 4 people run it).
So I'd say either a basekit increase in range, or reduce basekit to 12 and add 8 meters with Open Handed. Either way, let the killer know they are being seen.

imo the only buff blast mine needs is to be able to detonate it remotely, that way you could get value even if the killer doesn't kick it although the stun and blind wouldn't last as long (maybe 2 sec instead of 4). Though it would only stun if the killer is within maybe 4 meters of the gen once you detonate it. This buff would honestly create some new fun ways to use the perk like maybe you could "gen save" by detonating blast mine after the killer picks up a survivor next to a gen, you could also use it like an on demand stun if you get chased near a gen maybe or even save a survivor that's getting chased next to a gen that also has wiretap so you can time the detonate. That would be so fun, although it may be a bit strong and to fix that i suggest that the killer could see if a gen has an active blastmine and that the killer can deactivate it with a basic attack on the gen.
