Anyone else find flashlights really jarring?
In a game about running and evading, an items like a flashlight, which is used offensively to harass and confuse the killer, makes no sense really. I'm not saying they're op or anything, I just think that their implementation was done poorly and has lead to really confusing gameplay for new killers.

I love when they run flashlights.

I guess it used to make sense lore-wise. Stumbling around in a blanket of darkness for so long makes a simple light source such as a flashlight overwhelming for the killer. Kind of like staying inside a dark room for a while and then opening the blinds on a sunny day. Doesn't make much sense now that the game is so bright though.

What does that have to do with what this thread is about?

Edit - totally misread the OP.
It's a little goofy at times, but not really. If you were to look at it from a horror movie perspective, it's entirely plausible that the survivors would use a flashlight to gain the killer's attention to lead them off while their fellow survivors executed an escape plan. Likewise using one to briefly blind or disorient the killer would make sense in a Hollywood way.
I think what is more the cause of the disconnect is the sheer confidence survivors in the game have using such ploys vs what their movie counterpart would have as the stakes are much different.

Not really. I mean you see it in the movies. Cheeky protagonist that manage to briefly fight back against their pursuer by dropping something on them or flashing a bright light at their face. Of course they don't harm it in any way nor they really stop it, oftentimes simply piss them off, but still, that moment of rebellion is their's to grasp to and treasure. And, sometimes, just enough to actually make it out alive.

Have you ever stood outside in the day and then shone a bright light directly into your face?
Because I can promise you that unless you were literally gazing at the sun earlier that's going to leave some retina burn

Flashlights are annoying for me due to a sensitivity to light I have, but not quite annoying enough to run lightborne. Though if you are pre-dropping and blinding me at every pallet, expect tunnel.

Not as much as I find the mortar sfx from fast actions annoying and the black bubbles blocking my view as immersive breaking.

U think it confuse for new killer? Imagine that Flash light in the hand of new survivors... Heck not even experienced survivor use it correctly. So yeah Flash light is an ok thing to have if anything should get a buff for Flash light.
