Do You Think Killers Needs More Buffs?

Do you think we need another patch like 6.1.0? Or killers are alright now?

I know they shared new kill rates but rates are telling nothing alone. At least for me. So i am asking this question for your personal exp. But you can use stats too if you want.

I think killers just need a base mechanic to getting around the map to bridge the gap between the higher and lower tier killers

that way M1 killers like Trapper have a way of getting around, while not having too much of an effect on high mobility killers since they already have a way of moving around

I think they should buff specific killers and not everyone. Myers, Ghosty, Trapper Sadako all the slow M1 killers have still major issues performing well and i barely even see them anymore these days. I tried ghosty yesterday myself and oh boy was it fun... ( sarcasm )

Biggest issue which is probably the map sizes should be looked at but since the game does have killers like nurse and blight they need to be fixed before anything else is done.

↓ Nurse & her addons, Blight addons

↑ All Killers that are below B tier

Some (!) killers need buffs, yes. In the last season I never played with / against a Demogorgon or an Artist. In 131 matches I played 15 times against a Huntress, 12 times against a Nurse (win rate 50%), 11 times against a Nemesis and 10 times against a Ghostface. So weaker killers need some buffs.

Another patch like 6.1 ? No.

Buffing specific killers that are on the bottom of the ladder currently ? Yes.

I don’t think the way they buffed killers was the way to go. The Devs took the easy route instead of doing what was needed and going over each killer that needed help and figuring out how to make hem stronger in things they struggled with.

After they looked at the individual killers, they should have went over each map and make all the loops and structures more fair, to where every killer has a chance against well coordinated swf. Once that was done, they could finally rework or “nerf” Nurse and improve Solo Queue.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. To answer your question, yes, some killers like Doctor, Pig, Trapper, Sadoko, And Claudette😁 could have all used some love.

Like you said, i doubt we will get small maps while we have Nurse. And maybe Blight.

We got 2 small maps in row (Saloon & Midwich) and then they stopped to make this. Because they saw Nurse is problematic on these maps.

Yeah..lately they have been adding maps size of a Canada and also very survivor sided maps. Earie of crows, Garden of Pain..yeah horrible maps for killers. I hope they fix the killers that are actually an issue so they can start fixing the game for everyone else too.

    Heres to hoping :)

Massive sweeping changes to everyone? No definitely not.

Weaker killers having their powers altered to be more fun and rewarding? Theres a bunch of candidates for this.

Solo Q is probably the most pressing issue atm however.

No "basic moveset" changes but buffs to specific killer abilities.

Specific= all killers below A tier

As many people point out there are too many variables to make gameplay changes for balance. High end vs low end, high tier killers vs low tier killers, Strong perks VS weak perks. What I wondered up until this point was what was the justification for these changes. I felt most of these killer buffs were unneeded as killers point out its only really the high end of DBD where killers are having such a massive trouble. There was massive debate over the kill rate, with survivor's saying it was about 50% and killers saying it was far lower. Of course this takes nothing into account. This doesn't change the fact that the killers cannot beat strong coordinated survivors. But it did show that the majority of killers were managing. The devs stated that these changes were made because the kill rate was too low, yet according to their own stats the kill rate was perfect. 50% is ideal.

Now the kill rate is lower. Its around 40% which means killers win the majority of matches. It makes me curious of how many of those 40% escapes were SWF, as most killers seem insistent that SWF is still too strong. High end DBD has changed very little, yet has undeniably made the majority of DBD worse. I oppose the majority of thee changes and yet people feel like killer needs more. All you are doing s ensuring that the high end remains the same while the majority of survivors struggle.

More killer buffs? Like survivors starting the game already hooked? That's surely gonna be the most entertaining online video game.

If some side needs buff, then it's soloQ survivors.

Of course! There are rumors that some killers don't get 4K every match.

What is the point of nerfing nurse if you buffed every other killer to competete with swf? At that point you crush solos anyway in the majority of cases, nurse is the least of solo queues problem then.

Specifically Piggy needs more buffs. Everything they did in 6.1 for killer do it again this time but just on her.

Lower tier killers neef buffs but before that camping and tunneling needs to nerfed. And there is few perks that make 3 gen situation to last forever eruption and overcharge so they need to be looked at. SoloQ needs definetely more information. But then probably also A tier killers will need buffs as well.

The weaker roster needs to be buffed but I would say re-balance maps first to mostly all be around the same level of strength. Not just mothers dwelling and eyries requiring 2 brain cells to run compared to something like sheltered woods.

  • Pyrosorc
    Pyrosorc Member Posts: 202

Survivors: Huge buffs to anti-camping and tunneling, basekit. We still aren't even close to having enough. Give solo players some more information to bring them into the same league at least.

Then we buff killers further, although this should either be individual buffs to the weaker killers, or general killer buffs paired with simultaneous nerfs to the strongest killers. Like cmon, if nurse blink attack counted as m2 and all her blink recharges took 2 seconds longer... she'd still be the strongest killer.

The "buffs" are making zero differences in my matches. But i'm sure it makes a difference against absolute baby survivors.

If anything the game right now is slightly killer side, we don't need overall buffs.

  • Huge_Bush
    Huge_Bush Member Posts: 5,405

It’s not just buffing killers that need help. Rebalancing maps would be a direct nerf to what swfs could do. Tiles and loops will all need to be made more unsafe so lower tier killers can compete. Heck, I could see the lower tier killers not needing much changes if the maps were balanced appropriately.

If the devs went through with reworking maps, like they should, it would be an overall nerf to swf and solo. If they are made weaker, so too should the Nurse be looked at and adjusted, because she would be too much. I just don’t think she should be touched now, with all the BS loops and tiles and how big maps are.

  • duygu
    duygu Member Posts: 333

Most of them need either slight to heavy buffs, but the main problems are the trash map designs and SWF. Being able to coordinate your perks and pick your teammates is extremely powerful compared to solo queue (which are often too easy to crush). Then there are maps like rpd, eyrie of crows, garden of joy, swamp, et cetera, that have overpowered god loops most killers can't compete with.

So more buffs will help? What do you need for balanced matches

  • Blue_Archer33
    Blue_Archer33 Member Posts: 318

I respectfully and kindly disagree. The small changes they made to buff killers like shorter haste duration after hits, shorter hit cooldown, shorter break durations, gen mini-pop after damage, it is all adding up to help. I, personally at least, certainly feel these differences because I love playing Killer a lot.

These changes had to have influenced the increase in kill rate at least a LITTLE, right? Sure we got a new Killer with new perks and other changes that could've influenced the kill rate change, they're just confounding variables in this discussion.

Point is, if even if you personally cannot feel the change of stats during the gameplay, it is definitely making an impact on Killer's efficiency which was really needed. You see what I mean?

  • CyberRoninX

This 100%. The fact that anyone thinks they should buff anything other that soloq first is laughable. I mean killer mains must not understand the state of soloq right now or just don't care because they are finally getting their 4k every game as opposed to 2k before 6.1.0

  • ThiccBudhha
    ThiccBudhha Member Posts: 6,987

Hell no, if mmr was as tight as it once was, killers would objectively need buffs. A lot of them. I do not care what low skill survivors say, the game is heavily favored on their side if they are competent.

BUT, with mmr being looser than a mofo, killers might genuinely need nerfs. I do not care what low skill killers say, the game is heavily favored to their side because survivors are rarely competent.

It sucks running into survivors that are more or less exploiting the design of the game. And it is not just swf. Sorry to burst your bubble, but strong solo survivors can do it just as easy and not every swf is an improvement to matchmaking even in this state.

That is the truth, Buddha be my witness.

I think the killers are very uniform, currently, not counting the powers, they only differ in 3 things:

    - terror radius

    -Speed

    -height

I think they should have more distinctions, like, the time they gain blood lust, the time they are in stun, basic attack range, to give the killers more varied balances

Some Killers still need buffs on an individual level, yes.

But we do not need any more across the board killer buffy anymore as we saw in 6.1.0, at least in my opinion.

Honestly they should focus 1st on maps then buff most of the roster (obv not nurse and blight)

Specific killers (sadako, Myers, Freddy) could use some buffs/QOL. But I think solo q should get priority before bhvr gives killers more basekit buffs.

Some individual killers need buffs or complete reworks honestly. Maps have been the biggest concern though the outcome of a game shouldn't be based purely on if you get a fair map or not.

Let me share my brief experiences as a very new player, only 20 hours, all killer for non-custom matches. I'm a bit better than average new killers because I've been playing FPS games for about 25 years so FPS movement and a limited FOV with animation locks isn't alien to me. About a 20/80 split between Oni and Pinhead. I'm a Brown 9 killer, almost Prestiged Pinhead (Bloodweb 48). My current grade is Ash II for full disclosure.

(If you know me from the Reddit, hi!)

Low-MMR killers don't need 'buffs', but we do need some insurance against SWF ringers.

Against people my level I am a complete terror, I can get a 3k/Hatch or a 2k/Exit with relative ease if I'm willing to work for it. Sometimes I get complete greenhorn babies and it's such a rapid 3k going that I'll be merciful to the newbies and just farm with the last dude and then either carry him to the hatch or just AFK until he finds it, if not literally point him to it - this is hard because new players REALLY don't trust killers, so in those cases I'll slug him and drop him in front of the hatch. This feels a little out of balance, but remember I main Pinhead, so total greenhorns have almost NO IDEA how to handle the Lament Configuration which combined with the encouraged Non-Teachable Build from Otz's google doc leads to a RAPID snowball that beginners just can't recover from. So on that point, I really think the idea I heard floated by BHVR to have a botmatch training against other killers is a very good idea.

However, this isn't at all the experience I've had against SWF queues. Those tend to be either at best, a 2k draw - but more often than not it's a complete 4 escape shutdown - usually with a nice helping of flashlight spam and teabagging with some emotional abuse thrown in the endgame chat for flavor. It's bad enough I don't like to play during primetime because I get a coinflip on if I'm going to have a fun game with some mid-tier players or get my entire ass rocked by a sweatlord 4-stack.

So my proposal is that we need to not buff killers directly, no damage or movespeed or ability buffs, I have no problems ending chases or even scoring hooks - it's the fact that a SWF 4-stack can complete 5 gens in like a minute and a half it feels like. The part I think killers might need help with is that well, in SWF being on comms via discord is a MASSIVE information advantage. You can totally ghost a learning killer like me and just toy with us because it just takes one guy spotting me and everyone knows where I am.

MMR changes would help. Doubling the number of brackets and making them an odd number would help find places for mid to lower-tier players like me to grow steadily without getting railroaded, and the proposed Team MMR making SWF 3 and 4 stacks more likely to encounter high-level killers would also do a lot towards this - but I also think that some killer buffs towards information gathering could help as well, I don't have any real suggestions on this because I'm too new but I DO know that's where I feel most weak against a sweaty 4-stack, is that I have such limited intel on what they're up to and the fact I've been given so little time to fight against people my own skill level because of the weird MMR jumps I undergo when I get a bunch of 3ks in a row.

So there, consider that not really suggestions as much as observations from a new Killer Main who's not great but not totally terrible either.

I've been wanting some short sprint for a killer for awhile now. I really hoped the Event Blight Serum was a test on this and we'd see it soon enough.

If instead we go bandaid fixes like BHVR likes with perks, pls give us something like

    Anticipation

While not in a chase, gain a 8%/9%/10% Haste effect. Deactivate after starting a chase.

Cooldown of 60 seconds after deactivating

    I_CAME Member Posts: 1,292

Killer buffs would be fine if they also nerfed the OP ones. Blight, Nurse, etc are just way too much in 99% of games when in the hands of someone who is even semi competent. A solo team or average SWF just can't keep up.

I think the base kit killer changes need to be looked at again imo, especially the 90-second gens. Despite it only being 10 extra seconds per gen, it is 50 extra seconds overall. We don't need to keep rewarding poor killer gameplay. I think they should've made CoB basekit, with even 4% regression on kick. Actually reward the killer for spreading pressure and stopping gens. Instead, camping is now even stronger.

This is coming from a killer main of 5 years. I've seen the ups and downs of killer, there have been some ######### times, but honestly if people are still complaining about killer being bad right now, it is just skill issue lol. The game has never been easier.
