Prove thyself,Hyperfocus,And a Toolbox.
Seems like this might have the possibility to be the go-to combo emerging since hitting greats is fairly consistent. It also pretty much counters 3 gens if you still have your toolbox and can hit greats fast enough to rush out the gen with pure speed. I've had matches where i go to check the other 2 gens and come back and the gens already almost done. I enjoy how hyperfocus rewards you for the skill you put in. But the return might be a bit much when stacked with toolboxes and other gen repair perks (like prove thyself) or just multiple people running hyperfocus and seems like people are catching onto that. Do you think it's a problem or do you think things are fine the way they are?
Edit:(id love to do the math on how fast you can do a hyperfocus with all greats and prove thyself on a gen but i am not the greatest at math. If anyone else wants to give it a shot, it would be cool to see)
Just thought id get everyones opinion.
See you in the fog!

And they are easily countered with Gearhead and Discordance, so they will never be the meta that everyone brings.

I don't think it's a problem as it's a very niche build to bring. Killer has multiple builds to counter it as well.

Thats a lot of slots taken up to counter a combo that can easily change to "okay new plan. Split pressure, he has no real gen defense". Considering a gen with hyperfocus and toolbox alone can take only 45 seconds. So i doubt this "combo" is really much of a counter to the combo im addressing, At least running all 3 at once.

With the amount of killers complaining about it I'm sure they'll nerf it eventually so I wouldn't really worry about it.

i think its more the fact a solo person with a toolbox/hyperfocus can do a gen in 45 seconds on their own. When gens should normally take 90 seconds? Being able to completly halve it? Probably shouldn't be a thing? Not throwing anything else into the equation like prove thyself of course.

Takes work to get that "45 seconds" even with the niche build that most players won't and have not been able to actually get down outside of a 4 player SWF. Even then still seeing killers 2k-4k against said teams. Either way, I've seen the complaint come up enough that it will get nerfed eventually.

Prove Thyself is much better and you’re not wasting half of your load out for it.

Explain how prove thyself is better when it just removes the penalty for multiple survivors being on a gen?

Because as I said you as sacrificing 2 perks for one effect. Because alone Hyperfocus isn’t that good. I tested it out and the average was 12-20 seconds per gen.
I just don’t find it that useful when I can pretty much get that much progress with 1 perk and a friend.

I wonder why there is never any build variety in this game anymore

I don’t know how y’all hit those skill checks. I can’t get past the 3rd one most of the time- especially if the 4th one is at 4 o’clock. I don’t even attempt at that point and just settle for a good skill check.

Welcome to playing survivor, where half your perk loadout is taken up to counter something that the opposing side doesn't even need to invest in!

Discordance is great against Prove Thyself, Gearhead is a bit weak though even as a counter to Hyperfocus. Not only does Gearhead require you to get a hit to activate it in the first place but the aura is shows can be hard to see against the generator aura and it has no noise notification so it can be easy to miss.
Franklins can help a bit against toolboxes, although it doesn’t help as much if the survivor simply uses the tools up right away at the start of the match.

A lot of people run Hyperfocus with Stake Out which turns Good checks into Great checks. I’m betting the devs are specifically keeping an eye on that particular combo though.

I rarely, as in almost never, see all three of those things combined. - That would be a full gen-jockey build and at least from my experience most people are not into gen-jockying. They do gens because they need to get done and maybe bring one thing to help with that - but usually people enjoy the hide-and-seek-tag aspect of the game (tho more people are into the chase, I guess) and equip perks toward that end.
Personally, I've thought about getting the DLC, in part because of hyperfocus. But so far, between the skillchecks I get per gen and the number of greats I hit kinda don't justify the perkslot. While in theory it would cut down the time by a lot consistently, it's actually pretty situational and you rarely get full value. Yes, you'll always manage to shave a few seconds off a gen - but if the killer doesn't happen to overcommit to a chase you rarely get to do a full gen uninterrupted anyway and rarely will you be able to get the full perk value.

Been getting atleast 1 per game running full genrush build. Couple games with full gen rush SWF’s.

Yeah, I generally just bring Discordance. It doubles the odds that you will find at least one survivor in that direction. I'm not afraid that they will be using Hyperfocus so well that I need Gearhead, and Stake Out needs to charge anyway. The point is that it exists and if you are facing Hyperfocus every game you can easily counter that.
One thing I want to point out though. If you are bringing Franklin's to work against toolboxes you are wasting a perk slot. By the time you reach the survivors the toolboxes are ALL already spent. You are knocking totally worthless toolboxes out of survivors hands. The only thing Franklin's is good against is medkits and the occasional map or key. Even worse, if you are hunting the survivor with the toolbox and you bring Franklin's, by knocking the empty toolbox out of their hands you just announced to the SWF that they need to drop their gear... Again a wasted perk slot.

But splitting on gens is still always better, and hyper focus just makes it even better. Prove can help when it's convenient, but to be efficient survivors should split up as much as possible. Though working in pairs with one prove each can also be good. A 4 man split makes a game way scarier and a 4 man group spawn feels like my pressure is already insane.

Yea I’m familiar with that combo, but there are a lot of players who can hit the great skill checks without any SO stacks consistently- getting max value. I struggle doing it.

"A lot" is probably an overestimate. There's definitely people that can consistently hit Great skill checks but I'd be surprised if they're not a very small minority of players.

All I am saying is a 4 man split sacrificing 2 perk slots that help on other areas such as Heal/Anti-Camp-Tunnel/Chases etc is also crucial and I wouldn’t sacrifice 2 perks when I can bring Prove and just hop on a gen with someone else.

Let’s not get caught up in the semantics of “a lot,” that’s not important. It’s subjective and taken from my experience reading on here, Twitter, and watching Youtube videos of players pulling it off consistently. My point is there are players who can do it, kudos to them for being able to do it, but unfortunately i can’t.

Only time I've seen real good value from this is if a killer is running an extension of their TR, can make this build pretty decent IMO. Other than that (in solo queue) you'll have to track down the killer and try to get stacks back if you can.
In a good SWF I can see how this build is pretty powerful.

For sure, count me in that category that can't, I still have trouble hitting Good checks. 😄

I’ve ran this build plenty of times in solo and it’s way overhyped. The clips of gens being done in 50 seconds are unrealistic. Most people will not hit every skill check.
