It’s sad that Sadako relies on an Iri add-on
There has been many videos recently of players using Sadako’s “condemned slugging play style” using the ‘Iridescent video tape’ & ‘Ring drawing’ add-ons.
While it certainly has its rewards, the fact that it requires an Iridescent add-on to work just shows how weak her base kit power is
For those that don’t know, the ‘Ring Drawing’ add-on makes it so survivors spread ‘condemned’ to each other, while the Iri add-on makes it so you turn back on the last 4 TV’s after hitting a survivor, allowing you to further condemn them, and the play style generally involves slugging survivors so they spread their condemned stacks when they’re picked up
While certainly a viable play style I can’t help feel that it just draws attention to how weak Sadako’s base kit power is, if you want to reliably condemn survivors you pretty much HAVE to run these add-ons and commit to this play style
I get Sadako’s power is meant to act as more of a passive slowdown and not consistently secure kills, similar to Pig’s reverse bear traps. But right now if you’re not running these add-ons and going against survivors who aren’t completely new to the game, you will NEVER get a condemned kill
At least with Pig, if you leave your trap on for too long then there’s a big risk of you not getting it off in time and dying. With Sadako you can pretty much just ignore Condemn all game and then just insert your tape mid chase to undo everything she’s done prior

Honestly Iri Videotape is honestly just kind of nuts.
It's not the strongest addon in existence, but it goes above the power level an iri addon should be providing. 4 TVs is more than half and against Sadakos without iri videotape, interacting with tvs is just not nessecary. If you try to pre-emptively counter the addon, you are hurting yourself and if you don't you can easily give the Sadako a chance to snowball.
I fully expect it to get nerfed when the devs address Sadako in a mid chapter.

The iri isn't really necessary for this playstyle at all, but ring drawing often feels necessary, which is sad. I hope for some basekit buffs and some addon tweaks.

I feel like that’s a big problem in the game right now, Devs not addressing weaker killers because of strong add-ons, it’s exactly the same with Myers, weak killer-insane add-ons
A killer should never be only viable because of certain add-ons
Nerf the really strong add-ons, buff the weak killers

how it above and beyond power-level of iri add-on? its suppose to be the strongest add-on's on said killer. I do not really see them changing sadako in general because she's kinda like Myer's. She excels at a particular niche gimmick playstyle similar to Myers. Myer's entire play-style for longest time has centered around J,Myer's memorial+Tombstone piece with Play with your food and J.Myer's+Judith tombstone with PWYF. Nothing has really changed for him. He is still all about mori's ever since his release. as result I do not see anything changing with Sadako since she is all about mori's as well.
Her mori-play style is not viable at base-kit because no killers that skip hook-states are have viable base-kit mori's because mori's are often seen as too powerful, especially for casual crowd.
to OP post, In relationship to pig, Pig's power is first slowdown, secondary mori. Pig will not mori you at base-kit, but she has add-on to make mori's more reliable. Sadako power is not about slowdown. its exclusively about mori's. Its made evident by the fact that survivor do not need drop their item, spend very little time to take out tapes out of TV and can complete the insert TV action in 2 seconds.

More likely it will get nerfed and two of her useless add ons will get a slight numbers tweak that will do nothing to stop them from being useless. Then they'll call it a day.

To get condemned kills she does
Play against good survivors and you’ll see
Unless survivors are either new, bad or intentionally trolling/ throwing then you’ll never get a condemned kill without this add on combo and aforementioned play style
Without those she’s just a worse Freddy, M1 killer with cross map teleport but with no chase/ anti loop power

Its the same with Freddy and his Paint Brush. Not really cool, if u have to play always the same, because the other addons are unbelievable bad.

Sadako alone needs a buff to her power, after Dredge she got kicked down a lot of tiers and her power just needs tweaking so it's actually threatening.

I've only experienced her Iri add-on once, I got obliterated by her many times without it. Could just be really experienced players though. She is super fast!

She’s got quite a few addons and combinations I would recommend but it’s hard to argue that her Iri and healing condemned addons aren’t the best.
Thats like saying Spirit is dependent on Mother Daughter Ring. Spirit’s base kit isn’t actually all that cracked. But her addons (which why wouldn’t you bring addons?) make her a top three killer.

Bloody Fingernails, Well Water, Newspaper, Clump of Hair...all are quite useful. Iri tape helps, but is not a requirement to compete against good survs.

How on earth can you get hit by an incredibly telegraphed tp on an m1 killer, like im not even saying thats a lie but how bad does a survivor have to be to get hit by sadako after a tp?

It may be telegraphed, but unless there's a pallet or window right there, only SB or DH can save you from Sadako with the zoomies.
Beyond that, I honestly don't know. It's not like I get a hit every time, but it works often enough. You'd be surprised how often survivors just don't hear the lullaby coming either.

I honestly dont care about condemn. But the video tape isnt good only for condemns.
Its the only real way to assert pressure with your power. Videotape is too integral to her kit to be an addon imo.

I don't get this. I have avoided playing the onryo because everyone says they are terrible. First match ever with her, had several prestiged players. Ended up with 2 disconnects and one hook, one esacape and they still had 4 gens. Why is she supposedly bad?

People keep saying she's underrated, that she work with X build, that she's OP. They're only talking about her when she's using her pink add-on. Without it, she's nothing.
