BHVR, please don't give into these streamer demands and shift focus to changes that only affect them
We've all see a recent bandwagon of these streamers protesting DBD for a supposed cheater epidemic.
I'm sorry, but this isn't affecting the community as a whole. A recent poll on Reddit showed that a overwhelming majority have not seen an increase in cheaters and most people have only seen 1 or 2 cheaters in thousands of hours of gameplay.
You all have been making some great improvements in the last few years, please keep going and don't get distracted by the few who are abusing their influence for their own personal gain. Please do what benefits the entire community, not the 1%.

it's never a bad thing to improve the anti-cheat and reduce cheaters. surely a big company like bhvr is capable of releasing major updates and improve anti cheat at the same time.
51 -
Sorry, what? So you will rather pretend it's not happening?
It's not issue just for streamers but even for players. In high and mid-range MMR you can meet a lot of them. People have records, there are recorded incidents on streams. I have 46 separated videos just from last month and I am not even streamer. But it's not worth reporting every one of them, because it's literally waste of time. Can't sit entire day on their support and report everybody who is cheating, that's their job to implement some working anti-cheat, we paid for the game.
If you don't value your time or money, please, that's your decision. But please don't speak for the majority of the community when you obviously have no idea what's going on in the game, thanks.
37 -
Except the cheaters are a problem that affect far more than just streamers. You don't see them much in low MMR, but they're everywhere in high, and with the subtle cheaters, you can't even tell the difference without examining the game under a microscope. The current cheater wave has been going on for over a year at this point and shows no signs of stopping. Between endless burner accounts (hi, Epic Games Store) and a sluggish and defunct report system, cheaters are completely unafraid of repercussions. Some have streamed themselves cheating and still gone without action for months on end.
What unreasonable demands are being made here? I don't agree with SpookyLoops asking for no DC penalty, but asking DBD get their stuff together and actually protect its users from being trapped in game, or to get a functioning report system that actually reacts to clear offenses, are extremely valid asks. And I thought everyone was overreacting when they disabled the DC penalty for Fog Whisperers, because yeah, these people were getting targeted way more than anyone else was.

I think the problem is, these streamers that also cheat are also the game's biggest money spenders, so why would the devs even think about banning them? I feel like they would definitely turn a blind eye to cheaters who buy almost every cosmetic the game comes out with. This is just an assumption, not saying it's the real reason.

cheaters are a legit problem for a good amount of people, blatant cheaters and suble cheaters ruin the experience. subtle cheaters are the worst. I've had maybe 15 blatant cheaters or so over my games the last 9 months (i dont play much either) but there's also a good amount of subtle cheaters (i'd argue maybe even more?) than blatant ones.
3 -
"Please don't deal with the cheater issue!" is one of the most "DBD official forums" posts I have ever read.
34 -
Cheaters don't buy cosmetics? They cheat them in. BHVR's definitely getting money on burner accounts (when they're not from the Epic Games Store fiasco), but they're not cosmetic whales.
Unless you're mixing up the major streamers (who do not cheat, but are getting swarmed by cheaters) and the cheater streamers (who don't care what happens and are just in it for as long as the attention train chugs along.)
4 -
What? Even if cheating is a minor occurrence I would hope the devs are doing their best to make is happen even less.
DbD has sold millions of copies. I highly doubt there is a person or algorithm that sorts cheaters by money spent.
6 -
I've had a solid 4 subtle cheaters and 2 blatant cheaters in the past 2 weeks, and I don't make content on the game. You're selfish asf for not wanting compensation for streamers who get targeted.
20 -
Are you serious? They pay nothing. They can have whatever cosmetics they want out of the box with cheating engine. They just pay for this cheating engine, everything else is included. Not even talking about some cheating services where you actually get small refund if you get banned and they give you new account where you can continue. So, yea, that's really bad assumption from you.
7 -
Hot take but I think many of these streamers just make it an ego battle. Like, nothing's stopping you from just disconnecting. It's a 5 minute penalty, isn't that better than sitting in the match for 2 hours coping and seething at a hacker who probably isn't even watching the stream?
Not supporting hackers of course but I don't think it's as bad as they're making it out to be.
0 -
It might be an ego thing for some, but you figure that with the frequency they get targeted, they'd end up hitting the several hour penalties fairly quickly. Something really does need to be done in their case.
8 -
Don't see any cheating when I play. Only seen enough in my time in the game to count on one hand easily. Never even accused/suspected of foul play before, yet alone seen a lot. Seen a floating/teleporting pinhead and a couple of speed crawlers, that's it
0 -
I'd say most people don't actually know how many cheaters they've had in their lobbies. I think most cheater subscription services even advise their users to be careful, don't be obvious, and give tips on how to avoid getting caught. The people with burner accounts to spare or who know how to get around the bans are the ones who can afford to be blatant.
I've seen some obvious cheaters. I've wondered about suspicious occurrences in matches. I've been playing less and seeing more cheaters in the past few weeks, so I would definitely not say this is a problem limited to streamers.
Anyway, every online game should have a dedicated team working on patching holes and preventing cheaters. It's a constant battle, and if a game isn't constantly working on it then the problem only worsens. It is naïve and short-sighted to suggest otherwise. Security is important in all online matters. God only knows what they could do or get access to if BHVR ignores the problem.
Also, cheats crash the Switch. Whatever the cheat engine does, the Switch can't handle it and freezes up. I definitely don't want that ignored.
8 -
Nah cheaters need to be dealt with - I'm tired of second guessing if it's a script kiddie or a generally good player I'm playing against.
For streamers - cheaters have an entire system of names / programs specifically for the cheaters to force theirself into the streamers game - they deal with harassment all the time. I'm tired of BHVR pretending it isn't a problem also because while yeah they get the harassment we all get the indirect bullshit where it affects us too.
I want to know how many cheaters are banned
I want to know when my reports work
I want to know my reports mattered and that me spending 15-20 minutes of my day to report someone mattered or if I'm wasting my time.
You don't gotta say how you detected X Y and Z I just want to know things are getting done - It builds community confidence and encourages us to keep reporting people - Yeah we may still do it but if I'm uncertain I'm doing jack I'm going to be bitter about it.

Like I said, it's just an assumption.

In what universe is better anti-cheat not good for everyone besides cheaters? Of course assuming it's not insanely paranoid anticheat that bans people for having an unusual text editor open or because their connection had a 0.2 second hiccup that made them teleport a little in game.
6 -
Nah, have experience with 4 your comments and you are very sus person. Have no idea why do you defend cheaters, trying to make nonsense assumptions or trying to flout it but alright, will be better to ignore you I guess...
0 -
Becuz cheaters usually are on highest ranks but anyway it should be a priority
2 -
And I'm point out why, logically, the assumption doesn't make sense.
4 -
Toaster427 outing themselves as a cheater. First to be banned?
12 -
Literally. Even if it does only affect 1% of people there's no reason to not get rid of cheaters unless you are one
7 -
imagine shilling for cheaters.
12 -
Name when I "defended" the cheaters... I'll be waiting...
0 -
Don't need to be rude about it. And "I'm point out why" doesn't made sense grammatically so, I'll correct you on that.
0 -
Why thread like this is even allowed? I think it's crossing over "opinion" threshold.
7 -
It's also important to note that not every cheater flies around insta-finishing gens. There are "subtle cheaters." Cheaters who up their speed by 2% or have dead hard set to auto-react to an attack. There are many cheaters you may just never notice.
9 -
Your response to Updated Cake and myself included; "if you read". That's exceptionally rude to presume someone hasn't even read the post they are responding to. You made a post and we explained for different reasons why you were incorrect. You can either engage and say why you think you are right despite our arguments, admit that what we said makes sense, or just not respond (you can also wait for grammatical errors I guess if that's your preferred means of argumentation). Just because something is an assumption doesn't mean others shouldn't comment on why it might be a bad assumption.
2 -
Clearly a cheater so get out of here.
2 -
It's not rude, I clearly said it's an assumption, that would be understood if you actually read my post. I don't care about being corrected since all I said was it was an assumption. Take it or leave it.

Reporting system probably wouldn't be that bad if it weren't bombarded with thousands of reports of looping, camping or tunneling.
2 -
How is cheating NOT an issue? I'm a small streamer and I still deal with cheaters. Two of them just yesterday alone (One survivor and one killer)
The survivor completed all the gens and escaped immediately. The Bubba was flying, knocking down multiple people across the map, and doing all kinds of wild stuff. Luckily in both cases, the game ends quickly and it's a relatively minor inconvenience in comparison to the hackers who hold games hostage for 2 hours until the server shuts down
5 -
Bruh I'm getting blatant cheaters every other night.
It's an issue
9 -
Stop crying. If you read what I wrote, you know that I wrote that your assumption is wrong. Then you went crying and into debate with us about it. You are really sus person. You are even making assumptions to defend cheaters. Bruh... My last comment on you, it's really just waste of time.

I apologize if I sound rude but I disagree wholeheartedly what you are saying. This whole cheater problem that has been going on for far too long still needs to be addressed. I don’t really deal with a lot hackers from my personal experience.
But my point is that just cause I can basically live hacker free. By which I mean I play on ps4 with crossplay off and that it’s basically it’s super hard to hack on there. It’s not impossible but it is rare to see that from my experience. Like before I said it doesn’t mean that others should stuffer at hackers.
I feel that everyone should be able to play hacker free. I really hope that BHVR addresses this cheating issue cause it’s not only hurting content creators but also new players. I hope that again content creators and other many players especially new players can enjoy the game again. Also I feel that again cheating in a game like dbd is wrong. I feel that it’s also really sad to see people buy these cheats and go out their way to harass people.
I again hope more people especially content creators speak up about it. I again feel that these issues are very important to address and talk about. It’s basically how we spread awareness to also help other people be aware of cheating bully survivor squads or cheating bullying killer players.

So basically, "its not effecting too many people, so the devs should just ignore it for now."
No. Just.....no.
The Devs need to jump right on this before a tiny problem snowballs into a massive one, rather then just wait for the problem to become to big to ignore.
Even implying that this shouldn't be dealt with right away is a fairly braindead take
2 -
welp... I used to be console and crossplay was released. cheryl with unbreakable but no unbreakable and a speed hacking pyramid head who used it to come around a corner and kill me as well as speeding his ability at fun bus because he couldnt catch me.
fast forward and yeah no cheaters at all. but since may when I switched to pc. I have been deathbotted by a AI spirit, a girl who had wallhacks and so I camped her and she escaped with 2 gens left, and a Yoichi escaped mid match, and I have had a nancy just as I paused my otz video on cheating I got a nancy who did all the gens instantly opened gate and left. I have also had a bubba in my huntress match throwing hatchets, I have that on youtube so guys check it out. I have also had a girl start her blind before she was even in my field of view, but that one im not so sure about, was suspicious.
so in my time since august of 2019, my near 3k hours. 2 hackers as soon as crossplay happened, and then 5 within 5 months. maybe a 6th and thats if im not remembering right, oh wait i ALSO have a vid of a feng speed hacking on the ground, so yes 6 definite hackers and maybe flash hacks on a 7th, which would be a total of 8 hackers in 3k hours or slim chance but 9 in 3k hours

Subtle cheating is problem. Just last night a survivor sabotaged a hook without a toolbox or a perk. And no cool down so could sabo every hook I tried to reach. Not too subtle
1 -
Depends what you're asking to be prioritised. If you mean like quality of life changes, I'm sure the people who work on those aren't the same people working on game security. I'm sure BHVR can continue to make game improvements while simultaneously improving their reporting system or security measures.
0 -
You can take what I said personally, doesn't seem like I'm the one crying here. If I'm a waste of time, why do you keep responding to me?
0 -
I doubt it... seems a bit odd to spend money on a game when you know your account is at risk of banning in the near future. Not to say some cheaters aren't probably doing just that, but I would imagine once they've committed to cheating they'll likely go whole hog and just hack cosmetics too
1 -
They could, that's why I just said it was an assumption and not the real reason.
1 -
Tbf, streamers are affected more often because they are targets for attacks. Timmy who plays the game very casually and no one knows exists is gonna get lucky to see one random hacker. That being said, I've definitely seen more hackers than I ever have in my 5 years of playing.
0 -
Sounds like something a cheater would say

Respectfully, this post is sus

I am sorry but you shouldn’t ignore a cheater problem in any game period, if something exists that uses third party software to intentionally ruin someone’s game or even be used to aid in DDOSing people through the game, you need to focus on fixing that flat out as ignoring it makes you look as if you don’t care about said problem
To also add onto this, most of those people probably have faced a cheater and haven’t even noticed
0 -
I'm sorry, but this isn't affecting the community as a whole
No, I always meet plenty of cheaters every single day.
I have never been held hostage but, I've found survivors getting downed and just disappearing to the unknown abyss.
Not only that, I've found a lot of killers using speed hacks. And also 2 killers in a match...
So it is definitely a problem for everyone in the community, not just streamers.
