How Many More Changes to DBD?

This isn't a dig at BHVR, I'm just curious if there are currently any other game studios out there that tinker with their game as much as BHVR do?

I know every game, especially online multiplayers, perform regular bug fixes and buffs/nerfs to certain perks, abilities or weapons (depending on the game), but isn't it strange how often core DBD mechanics change? I've been playing DBD for 5 years and the amount of changes it's gone through are crazy. Killer reworks, perk reworks, map reworks, the introduction of EGC, Breakable Doors, Boons etc... and now basekit perks being added.

I admit, most of the time these changes are for the better, but even still I would have thought after 6 years BHVR would have a better idea of what they want their game to be and play like.

The smaller rocket boost from getting hit as survivor, the faster attack recovery for killer, gens being 10 seconds longer, and the actual regression from kicking a gen were a long time coming. Survivors having Endurance, Haste, and Unbreakable for free, we could honestly do without.

We keep getting changes until FOV slider becomes reality. Thats the endgame, possibly 2027

It’s a live service game so changes that come often are to be expected. Games make huge balance changes that shake up the general gameplay often, BHVR has just done a lot in a short time after years of doing very little.

They have to keep changing it because the core of the game loop is very simple. There's only so much you can do to it without making it too complicated for new comers or too different from what vets are used to. Some people will adapt and some won't, but overall I think it's a good business decision to keep things moving.

Two of my other favorite games are No Man’s Sky and Path of Exile and both have gotten a ton of updates and revisions over the years.

I think it's cool they are constantly trying to fix and change things. Like the Prestige system. I can see why Prestige 3 would have been great for a game with fewer killers/survivors. But as they add to the roster, that became a daunting task so they changed it up. Like the basekit BT, it was good since so many people were running back to back tunneling and making gameplay frustrating.
