Wiggle Effect

How does it work? Sometime killers shake a lot and have an hard time even walking straight or crossing doors, sometime it seems they are totally unaffected; I don't think it's related to hitting crit on the wiggle check, so what?

When I play killer it seems I've to struggle 90% of the times, and if I don't move the shake is really big

there is a perk that makes the wiggle effect stronger, Boil Over from Kate.

otherwise, if the killer is playing on a controller the wiggle effect will feel stronger. On Mouse/Keyboard you can use the A/D keys so that it pretty much neutralizes wiggle almost completely.

Also, Agitation might make it look like the killer isn’t as affected as they move faster.

(I know about perks but that wasn't my question)

I mean is somehow affected by how survivors hit their wiggling checks or is triggered in a random way?

It’s not affected by skillchecks. As you yourself had answered already in the OP, you didn’t mention any perks, and those are the only mechanics that actually affect wiggling. Otherwise it’s only either active (hitting skillchecks or using the old system) or not. The strength can’t be influenced by the survivor and by the killer only to some extent using the movement buttons/analogue stick.
