BHVR, why is hook suiciding still in the game?
Realistically, it is used almost exclusively as a loophole to ragequit without getting the DC penalty they should for doing so. Doing so for hatch or against a cheater is the only rare exception. The former of which should just be its own thing anyways (a way to give up if only one other person alive). The latter of which will be addressed by hard game time limits anyways eventually and other improvements to anti-cheater measures.
Yes, if it is removed, it is possible that people will AFK or sandbag instead.
People who are AFK should be kicked for being AFK and be given the DC penalty as if it was a DC.
People who sandbag should be, and according to BHVR, are temporarily banned outright, and permanent on repeated offenses.
So why is there still an incredibly outdated function that exists to appease immature players who want a method to ragequit without getting the DC penalty for doing so? I want an actual BHVR’s official explanation on this. I’m not interested in the same beaten-horse million and one excuses random people on these forums make for why it’s actually okay to ruin the game for the other 4 players by ragequitting the game.
And let’s be real. The only times people try and self-unhook are either (1) a new player who doesn’t know better, (2) someone trying to kill themselves on purpose, (3) a cheater/hatch, (4) trying to recover a doomed situation (everyone downed or hooked or whatever), (5) Luck builds/Deliverance/etc. (1) shouldn’t be possible at all. Neither should (2). (3) should be addressed through other means. (4) should be its own exception case (only works if everyone is downed or hooked or in chase). (5) Luck/Slippery Meat should be reworked anyways, and Deliverance can be its own exception. So the self-unhook ability aspect of hook suicide is outdated too.
Also let’s be real, almost no one is ever missing those struggle skillchecks with how giant they are. There is zero feeling of intensity or anything like the devs mentioned wanting struggle phase to have. The ability to ignore 2 or fail 3 to die is outdated too.

People are petty, they'll find a way. I'd rather a 3v1 game be over quickly with people giving up then dragging it out
Also no offence but aren't you the person who got mad about people making constant threads about Nurse, you're doing the same thing, I swear I've seen this same thread about 3 times already

So we shouldn’t be able to try to 4 percent? Geez you really do want ez killer mode

So better measures should be implemented against AFKing/sandbagging that don’t involve giving a penalty-free way to ragequit.

I am fine with the 4%. It should not be a way to force self second stage.

If you throw up a wikipedia article in response to a short criticism about hypocrisy, I think that says a lot more about you than it does me.
I don't even disagree with you for the most part but you're doing the exact same thing you went on every single Nurse thread to complain and bug the mods about. Give it a rest

You cannot force people to stay in games they do not want to be in.
Some people have kids, jobs, responsibilities. Unexpected things come up, it is called life. Those don't just go away because someone is playing DBD.
What is it you always say? "Its a you problem". Learn to listen to your own advice.

Unexpected things and real life can be just disconnected for. It shouldn’t be happening super often and the DC timer doesn’t matter if you’re busy with life anyways.

You're right. You can't force them.
They can take the DC penalty.

Sure, you can’t stop people from ragequitting. But you can stop them from having a way to bypass the penalty they deserve for ragequitting. Imagine, actually having consequences for ruining the game for all 4 other players.

I hate DCs as much as the next guy. This cannot be done. After lots of reflecting I actually changed my mind on the idea of increasing the DC penalty. They should keep it as is. The state of DC-ing and giving up would get worse not better. Adding something for killing on hook? Hmm not a penalty no. I think pop ups that give reminders to try and give people perspective would be nice. 3rd unalive on hook in a row, pop up that says "Dead by Daylight is a team based game and relies on all 4 survivors working towards a goal" what have you. So many people seem to lack perspective and understanding on what the game is supposed to be like.

First no more slugging, now no more 4%. BHVR, please no!

I’ve literally said it can be kept, just that it shouldn’t be usable to force a second stage.

As much as I hate when people suicide or DC for petty reasons...I'd rather this over the alternative. Anyone who wants out of a match as quickly as possible will find a way to do it. If they can't get themselves killed...they will get you killed. They will make everyone feel as miserable as they do in that game.
Not only that....there is currently a cheating problem in DBD. What if someone gets into a game and a hacker is holding everyone hostage. Sure, you could DC..but that is a penalty. Some people get targeted by them and will have to deal with being held hostage multiple times in a row. A DC isn't viable here. Killer players are pretty much stuck in this situation, but at the very least survivors can suicide on hook as a safe way out of the match with no penalty because someone else held them hostage.
There is also the situations with 2 survivors left, killer dominated and now has the first guy on hook and is looking for the last remaining one or is camping. The person on hook suicides so that the last one can possibly get hatch or isn't lured into a trap by the camping killer... Is that player supposed to now eat a 5 minute or more ban for trying to ensure the other player can get out?

If you force people to not be able to exit out of the game early when they want out, then they will find other ways to screw you over. Like just go afk and wait for the match to end. Either way it going to ruin the match for the others. So its a no win scenario.

I’ve literally addressed this in the original post. AFK people should be kicked and given the DC penalty. Sandbaggers should be banned. Anti-cheat measures are being implemented and most people are not facing hostage-taking cheaters frequently at all ever so the DC penalty doesn’t even matter for the majority of players. And I’ve literally addressed suicide for hatch.
They’re ruining the game either way with their immaturity but they should not have a penalty free way to do so.
