Why is there no access to the PTB for console?
I was in a discussion with a friend of mine (who plays on console), and they had mentioned how it feels unfair that pc players get early access to new features and console players don't.
I had mentioned that it might be because that'd be more servers that BHVR would have to maintain and would get expensive, maybe since it has to be opted in (and redownloaded) through steam that it's an issue with the console storefronts, maybe even that having two versions of the same game on a player's console was just too much to ask (since the game files used to take up nearly 90GB before the optimization patches).
Is there a reason that this isn't a thing? Has this been discussed before and I've just somehow overlooked it?

It's like that in most games. It's not about servers. PTB are temporary and for consoles, they would have to pay a lot more to create 'PTB's

Any game I’ve played that had a PTB was PC only. Iirc console updates have to jump through a bunch of extra hoops and red tape. So it’s just faster and more efficient to do PC only.

There’s one good thing about not having access to PTBs. New content stays fresh until release.

I mean sea of theives has a crossplatform ptb but thats a microsoft owned property

afaik that's a completely different version of the game and is always available, isn't it? It wouldbe like having 2 DBDs games always available, one with the Live version, one with the PTB version, but it wouldn't really make sense for a game like DBD since 90% of the time the PTB version would be the same as the live one
