You can't compliment a killer
No, literally. Endgame chat censors you.
"Nice 99'd stalks !"
I didn't know [ 'd ] and [ d ] were censored, that's a new low but I see the filter keeps digging.
Poor Myers probably left seeing all those #...

Don't see why there isn't just an option to disable the filter.

This is, by far, the worst chat filter I've ever seen in any video game ever.
I'm not exaggerating and I'm not some blind BHVR hater. Just saying, it is impressively bad how they managed to screw it up this much. Please just give us an option to turn off the chat filter.

I'm still not sure why we even have a chat filter.
I get post-game harassment isn't fun and that it can be very upsetting depending on you and what is said to you: I'm not mocking the issue.
But like, why can't we just have the chat window closed by default? It already has an open/close utility. Just change the default setting and players could open it if they wanted to see what people had to say or ignore it if they didn't.
What was the point of designing something so elaborate as a chat filter, for a number of different languages, to fix an issue that already had a very simple solution?
Ah well. It is what it is.
Hopefully the Myers understood your kind sentiment, OP.

When the filter censors a compliment and it makes it look like you're raging and insulting in the EGC
It always upsets me.

Because in the game where people got stabbed, chainsawed, dismembered, mutilated and eaten alive, kids (which not supposed to be in this game in first place) could see a bad word!

day #524 of telling bhvr that the chat filter leads to more toxicity and doesn't let someone see the difference between an innocuous word and slurs.
I don't care about someone being salty in chat, but as a trans person whos profile makes it clear im trans, idk id like the option to block/report the more egregious stuff in chat if i see it.
But to remove the filter you would need to have a better reporting and banning system, and that costs time and money ig.

After game chat is for lonely people.

funny how in a game about killing the word "kill" gets censored.
I get there's bullying but when "I wanted to give you a kill" gets censored I'm just confused

I wouldn’t go that far, I’ve had some nice conversations occasionally in aftergame chat. 🙂 Yeah there are some jerks too but some people in it are cool.

Just give us the option to put our grownup pants on and turn the filter off for ourselves. Highlight words that would be censored on their end if they have the filter on so we have an idea if they can understand what we type.

this is why i never take bhvr seriously when they try to force us to talk how they think is proper. the phrase grow the hell up really applies with them when you see this busted filter system they have.

My gosh, here I thought the text filter in the sims was bad. But no, this is the worst I've seen in a long time.

Myers is somewhere cryinf, thinking he has just been sworn at multiple times!
The filter really could do with some improvements.

If I text in German, the filter always censors important words like "wenn" or "dann" ("if" and "then") witch makes it sometimes weird or difficult to even understand what I mean. It filters character names like Claudette as well.
4 -
I really hate it. Some times I tried asking a question or complimenting and got flamed because they thought I was salty thanks to those freaking #s. Literally the worst addition to the game ever.

How BHVR hasn't responded to any of the criticism of their filter is astounding to me, I wonder how long they can stick their heads in the sand about it. Probably a while since there are admittedly more pressing matters like cheaters and game balance but they were the ones who wasted their time and effort on the thing in the first place and didn't even consider making it a toggle.
1 -
They were probably tired of sifting through reports so decided to do that so nobody knows what's going on lol you cant report something you can't interpret I guess

Man isn't it great that we have this mandatory chat filter that butchers every 2nd innocent sentence and is impossible to turn off manually in the options?
BHVR have truly outdone themselves here, this is the single greatest mandatory addition to the game ever :)

I bet alot of people (including me) were planning on coming here and saying "BuT yOu CaN't CoMpLiMeNt SuRvIvOrS eItHeR" lol, well played
That's why I only try to message across PlayStation if I can, also because console doesn't have access to that chat, but y'know what? Apparently it's for the best, lol
1 -
Funniest part? All the insults in other languages are perfectly fine. You can get bilingual-bullied all good, but you can't say "Kill" in the game with Killers.
2 -
Only been complimented once. I've complimented some killers, its not a good feature on console.
1 -
It's a bit sad that most times, either people are not humble enough to compliment their opponents, or the filter gets in the way. I'm guessing on console people don't really dare sending a message to other people either...
Wholesome postgame chats with honest feedback on everyone's performances is so rare yet feels so good when it happens ! I love telling the killer what they did right or telling the survivors how well they did against me.
The community has such a reputation for toxicity that we often forget those exchanges are possible and I cherish these gems. :D

I sure do love not being able to say even just the names of some survivors or completely innocuous words without it turning into a string of hashtags that make it look like I actually used slurs now. #VERYCOOL

It really is such a bad filter, I can't even type albert wesker or certain things, obviously we players all know this. I don't understand why it's such a sensitive filter. In a game that you literally slaughter people. I understand racism and all that garbage, and certain words that are to be rude, but seriously, can't even turn if off? I hope BHVR reads posts like these and take it into account.
A lot of the times I try to compliment or say something nice and it's filtered. It's not good!

Seriously how is roblox less filtered than dbd at this point, you literally have to enter your age to even view dbd on the page, swearing has such a stigma it's kind of embarrassing, for me I think certain slurs should always be censored, but standard swear words just have no place being censored on this game
1 -
Imagine using post game chat.
But for those masochists who do, there has to be a way to censor slurs (which should absolutely always be censored, without exception) without censoring literally everything else. It's pretty absurd.
I mean it can't be that hard to maintain a "dictionary" of verboten words and their various permutations, and censor only those words.

The most frustrating part is its forced on me.
If I have a thick enough skin that I can handle people telling me to end myself and laugh at them, I should be able to. Ive gone through peak COD voice chat. I can handle this.
it shouldnt be forced

lmao this happened with me many times. Yeah strange.

Exactly, EZ fix (Lazy one but whatever). Give us an option to toggle chat censor.

We ended up giving up. We were having a civil conversation ( I think ? )
No. No I dont know what you meant sir / madam.

The worst things I heard in post-game chat weren't censored while regular discussion gets butchered quite often. The filter is really, really bad.
