Killer tier list (Against GOOD survivors)

This got pretty good reception on reddit so I figured I would drop it here.

Main points:

  1. Add on strength is included
  2. Playing against a swf with comms is assumed
  3. Killer playing PERFECTLY with their best build is assumed (ie sadako with iri tape, bubba with double chili)

Tier explanations:

S - The best of the best. These killers will allow you to defeat comp teams consistently if you put in the hours. You can 4k even if the survivors do everything right.

A+ - These killers are very strong and tough to counter. They have some oppressive add ons and can feel impossible to beat in solo queue, or for less skilled survivors. They have counterplay, but it is thin and conditional. They see middling to good results in comp play against the best of the best

A - These killers have oppressive strengths in their specific area. (ie pyramid head at any flat loops, huntress in the open, oni and plague in snowball situations, hag in a 3 gen.) HOWEVER, they are hampered by one of two weaknesses. 1. No mobility or 2. Power is conditional and not always available

B - These killers have defined strengths, and good opportunity for skill expression. However, they also have defined weaknesses that make them easy to bully for an experienced swf. With enough skill, it is possible to consistently win with these guys. But you might have some painful games.

C - This tier is reserved for killers that suffer from m1/no mobility disease. Totally destroyed by normal, good survivor play (spreading out, staying separated on gens, and good looping)

In the case of billy, he is here because of overheat, bad add ons, too many nerfs over time, and being awful on new maps.

D - You will be in constant pain with these killers. What strong add ons they do have are very conditional. You are almost entirely dependent on survivors messing up.

Feel free to discuss! I am willing to answer any questions about placements!

Yay I found someone that gives Spirit the respect she deserves.

Even Spirit's yellow add ons put her in the A+ tier. Mother daughter ring + purple amulet make her unstoppable even against god swfs, which is why they are banned from comp :)

    Sadako way too high lol

With iri tape I could have even put her higher. Not any higher than C tier though. Sadako with iri tape in a 3 gen with gen kicking perks is her best possible build. Even the best survivors would run out of resources eventually

I think Oni is B agains't good survivors unless you are very good at him. As agains't optimally playing swf using map offering you will take lot of time to get first hit and once you get your power all gens are pretty much done. But however good Oni can slug all of them with one use of his power in the end.

His explosive snowballing is the only reason he is in A. I have found recently he can easily use perks like superior anatomy and bamboozle to shorten his first chase and get his power up against teams that actively try to deny any hits

I don't think Freddy is the worst killer in the game. He isn't great but he still has a somewhat decent anti-loop and a bit of mobility. Also why is Doctor so low? He is not super strong and heavily reliant on addons and perks but I fail to see how he would be weaker than Ghostface, Clown (except maybe with Pinky Finger) and Sadako. In the hands of the right player Doctor can still do a lot of damage imo.

It hurts to see Billy so low on a tier list but it's hard to make a case for him right now. There are a million little things he suffers from and those certainly add up. I hope he will get some love in the near future.

Yet another awfully inaccurate tier list that nobody asked for. I understand why reddit bans those type of threads except for certain days.

Not that C tier really means anything, but I think I'd rather be caught on Doctor than Sadako against actually good survivors. And I never play Doctor.

Yeah, that looks pretty much like how I'd rank them I think.

I think Wesker is A+ tier, though not by your definition. Wesker definitely has mobility, and most importantly he has built in slowdown. The infection mechanic that comes baskit really puts Wesker at a higher level, but only if you can effectively use his power.

When a survivor becomes infected, they have two options: ignore it or use one of the vaccine cans which they have to go out of their way for. If they become fully infected, they are hindered by 7 or 8% I think and they can be intsa-downed if slammed into a wall. Unlike Sadakos Condemnation, survivors are eventually forced to use the vaccine or they're permanently slowed which is death sentence when chased. If played right with the right perks, Wesker can not only slow the game down, but also protect the gens quite effectively even against good players.

Of course he'd struggle a bit against a 4 man death squad, but every killer does except Nurse.

This is my version. S + A needs no explanations, right? You could argue that Wesker is higher than Huntress or P-Head or whatever, these are slight differences.

B-Tiers are close to each other, you can easily swap one v another.

C-Tiers are annoying (Doc, Legion, Pig), but more or less weaker killers with no map-pressure and mediocre abilities, easy to counter.

D-Tiers are killers with a bad Basekit OR terrible Addons OR both.

Inside the Tiers, you can swap one v another most of the time, because mostly they are close.

Freddy and Sadako are the two killers who NEEDS to be looked at, Trapper should receive Trapper-Sack Basekit and Piggy made the biggest jump thanks to the RNG-Buff, which gives her far more pressure, IF she manages to place all RBTs.

comp... and nothing, that alone made me chuckle. Dbd won't ever be a comp game

almost accurate, but personally i'll switch a couple of things:

1 spirit with the strongest addons would be a tier (and i'm being generous with her)

2 twins belong to the bottom (they are awful to play as and against i might add)

3 trapper would be a b tier with his strongest addons imo (don't get me wrong, he still suffer from coordinated swf, but his iri that allow your traps to activate by their own paired with the trapper bag is still a good time wasting things for SWF if they want deactivate your traps)

4 slinger and trickster belong to the c tier for how much clunky and slow they are to use (plus their addons are situational and/or just bad)

5 clown isn't so bad how people claim imo, his problem are his yellow bottles that are useless most of the times and the fact that you must waste time to recharge your bottles (imagine if his bottles worked like nurse blinks regarding the recharge aspect)

6 artist well... she isn't strong aganist good survivors because she is easily counterable (i still have to meet an artist who makes me sweat honestly... partially because she's rare), when you zoned someone she has the "i win" button

7 if wasn't for the nightfall mechanic dredge would be a c tier for the simple fact that his remenant works in loops only when people doesn't know how to counter it (w+shift to another zone)

8 piramidhead hmmm... b tier imo cause his power can be avoided easily (without mentioning that his power works only when the ground is FLAT)

pretty much you have sum it up (only exception is the nurse which will laugh at the pallets and windows, but even her can be genrushed badly)

Overheat doesn't effect a good Billy.

I will agree however that his add ons are pretty poor and the recent two maps haven't been the best for him.

Why’d you specify against ‘good’ survivors? Are the rankings somehow different against average survivors, who make up the great majority of survivor players..?

holy ######### an actually based tier list? on the dbd forums too?? thats crazy.

  • GrimoireWeiss

The only one I disagree with is Freddy. A killer with mobility and anti-loop (although mediocre) can't be the worst in the game. I'd push him to C tier at least.

    Why are Twins B tier?

  • dugman
    dugman Member Posts: 9,713

Actually there are differences. For instance, stealth in general is most useful against survivors with typical situational awareness and becomes much less useful the more observant the survivors are to their surroundings. So the stealth killers tend to do well in average matches but not as well in the higher MMR brackets.

Just wondering about doc, did you consider iri king and iri queen or iri king and high stims? Cause I personally think the latter is better

Youre telling me tombstone myers is D tier?

  • prion11
    prion11 Member Posts: 361

Against survivors that can tell he has it and just jump in lockers and deny stalking so hard that he doesn't get it until 1 gen is left, yeah

  • AverageAshEnjoyer
    AverageAshEnjoyer Member Posts: 427

by the time the survivors even know he has it one guy is already going to be dead. And now imagine if the myers has:

3 PWYF stacks, Deadlock, Corrupt, and the green stalking addon. My guy if you go against that, youre done for

    not_requested49 Member Posts: 1,979

Best addons were included, that means iri tape and ring drawing

Consistent 4k condemn kills against multiple prestige survivors with the right build (and map)

    my issues:

onis too high, good survs on comms will predrop hold w and force oni to never be able to get a hit, and m1s with no power are definitely not a tier.

hag is also too high, vs a 4man swf on comms and you can never get a foothold in the game, and will just lose by default

dredge, pinhead, twins are reliant on uncoordination from the survivors - this is a 4man swf on comms, that doesnt exist

legion, ghostie, sadako id put in d tier, theyre all m1s with powers that do next to nothing even with their best addons

if youre talking specifically condemn sadako then shes in the right spot

also trapper is weaker than freddy, freddy has mobility and consistent anti loop (bad, but consistent). trapper has neither and has to setup which takes time and has to travel the map to pick up his setup (like plague picking up corrupt, but you get nothing out of it instead of the single strongest ranged attack in the game) and its a swf so one person sees a trap all 4 know its exact coordinates and its whole family tree

and myers id put bottom of c, he does have tombstone and faster stalking and by best build i assume best perks too so he has pwyf and deadlock so he can probably get a kill before gens are done
