Certain skins only make sense as alternate universes, such as the insect skins for the Deathslinger and Doctor, the ice skins for the Blight, Artist, and Ghostface, and all the Greek Legends outfits. If at least those skins aren't canon, then the reasoning goes that most aren't.

Devil's Advocate take (although I'm starting to wonder whether this was an accidental link):
The point they may have been trying to make was to show the lack of understanding - or even care - about the ecology of worlds.
Plus, this could be from one of many Earths; this one where crows did reach Chile. However, if that's the case, I want a tale where sentient tumble dryers rampaged through Cambridge and worshipped a local publord as a deity, who then kills in their name and the Entity takes them. AI sentient tumble dryers in-game - that's all I want now.

They aren't making any point about ecology of worlds and it certainly wasn't a mistake, the crows (who aren't even natural crows) were obviously sent by the entity since, you know, crows have long been established to be connected to the entity itself, Seriously it's not some big mystery.
Also House of Arkham entry 2 in Tome 12 confirms only Carmina could see the crows.

Clown got his finger fetish from his Dad scolding him as a child. Makes sense but it still feels poorly written.

Firstly I think BVHR have said that cosmetic descriptions are not cannon. And the description doesn't say that she killed him, stabbed him sure, but only specifies he was left cold and bleeding. Bleeding implies he's alive but injured, and as a hesitant teenager i doubt she'd manage a fatal stab in a single blow. Just a mugging assault, part of that slippery slope that leads her to be a viable candidate for the entities corruption into a full blown killer.

Which is sad because Clown had the most realistic and plausible lore of all Killers, a psychopathic hedonistic serial killer with a well established and organized modus operandi and a trophy theme (the fingers).
He is one of the few "people like this exist in real world" Killers in the game.
