This Prestige Update Makes No Sense
Post from my friend, he has no chance to using forums. So he asked me for post this and ask.
My pyramid head was p3 but then suddenly was bumped up to p5. Cool. However, everyone else stayed the same. No survivors went up in prestige. Same for killer. Can someone explain?

The catch-up system was for characters that were level 50 and prestige 0, 1, or 2 as of the 6.1.0 patch, so my guess is that their Pyramid Head was the only character that had those parameters.

Care to give a reason why character at P3 level 50 were ignored? Seems like they got the short end of the stick with all this "New Prestige system" to be fair..

I don't have that information, however I assume that those characters would just reach P9 that was stated as the limit for the catch-up system with the release of 6.1.0 without needing the 2 additional prestiges.

Yeah, but since even both a P1 and a P2 characters were able to reach P9 if they had all perks, why would they get the 2 additional levels as well?
Plus, weren't the 2 bonus prestige levels given to "repay" the addons/items/offerings that were lost in order to prestige? Giving them to people who didn't prestige feels kinda..strange?

My catchup seems inconsistent as well. Like I know Yun-Jin and Zarina were the same before the update. I saw Yun-Jin got the catchup however Zarina did not. Nancy is now P2 but Steve still remains P0. I think I'll take it because many of my killers are now P3 which really saves me from going through and prestiging the killer side.

On many killers especially, their addon stockpile is far more valuable than their teachable perks. I'm assuming this part of the catchup was added to accommodate for that, which I am personally thankful for. Killers like Huntress had pretty much no reason to nuke your addons to make sure everyone had an absiolute classic like territorial imperitive at rank 3.

This is the second part of the mechanic that gave you bonus prestige levels for characters you had prestiged before the progression overhaul. At the time, characters that were level 50 were not granted bonus prestiges even though they could have been prestiged at any time. This update fixes that by giving characters that could have been prestiged but weren't the bonus prestige levels anyway.
e.g. if someone was taking a break from the game at the time and didn't prestige their level 50 characters.
A character that was P3-50 was already at the maximum for the prestige catchup mechanic, so they would have been appropriated awarded bonus prestige levels when 6.1.0 released. Only characters that were level 50 and prestige 0, 1, or 2 are eligible for this second round.

Is there a reason why people who prestiged and burned tons of addons, items and offerings weren't compensated. I had over 25 characters that i prestiged pre patch losing tons of stuff to get the prestige 3 bump, when now I learn i could have not prestiged kept my stuff and still got the bonus anyways just by waiting. I mean for someone like me all you'd be giving away would be a couple free bloody cosmetics, so why wouldnt this 2nd catch up apply for people who prestiged right before the patch?
Was the original prestige catch up just a test to see how much of the playerbase would be suceptible to FOMO tactics and this is a test to see how mad people get?

I understood that
I'm questioning the logic behind how it was applied.
And not only this second prestige catch-up mechanic, but the first one as well.
If you do the math:
Characters who were P0 level 50 with all perks were brought to P8 after this second catch up mechanic
Characters who were P1 level 50 with all perks were brought to Prestige 11
Characters who were P2 level 50 with all perks were brought to Prestige 11 (exactly the same as P1 characters, which feels already weird)
But the best part is: characters who were P3 level 50 with all perks were brought to P9! Even lower than P1 characters!
Does it really makes sense to you?
My issues are: why was the first catch-up mechanic capped at P9 when there was no apparent reason to do so, and why were people who were P3 excluded by this second catch-up mechanic when there was no apparent reason to do so?

You already got the compensation in getting the prestige levels. There was a lot of touch and go in the month leading up to the rollout that had a lot of people calculating total number of perk tiers, making last minute spending, and some people simply weren't around to take advantage of it. I understand why you feel like the addons were wasted, I'm about half and half myself on being helped and being hurt by this second part of the catchup.
If nothing else, for anyone who falls into that crack like I did, it just turned a punishment of not having the perks unlocked in order to keep the addons into a reward for being practical about it. Im certainly not looking forward to having to restockpile all those addons on the characters I did burn, but i would have been in that exact boat anyway, so I'll take a little help with the ones who were held back by pragmatism.

Edit..Nevermind , I figured out why my chars were not affected.

My second wave catchups are all prestige 2-3, up from p0. They do seem a little inconsistent though, like how some are 3 and others are 2, but all were p0L50 when the prestige rework dropped initially. No P8's tho, just my old p3-upgraded-to-p9 megathan from before the change.

It depends from how many perks you had before the first catch-up.
BHVR assigned 1 prestige level for every 70 perks (perk tiers, more specifically) you had unlocked, my examples were about characters who had all perks unlocked before the first catch-up.

yeah, i just dont remember any of the ones in question having different thresholds they reached. they were all <70 which is why i just considered them a wash, especially since they were all survivors with perks i don't use. Thankfully every single killer i have unlocked is at least p3 right now with this change, so i'm particularly glad there.
That said, I honestly don't see much value in anything over 9. 9 gives you everything short of the charm you get in exchange for an absolutely massive grind, but i've never really understood the bragging rights side of prestiges in general.

There might not be much value in prestiging over level 9, sure, but it always makes me question the logic that BHVR uses when implementing stuff when they do sloppy things like this one.
Like, what's the logic they follow when doing certain things? Why weren't they more considerate towards certain people? Are they realizing their inconsistencies or does everything look fine for them? The fact that most of the time they try to either totally dodge or straight up ignore certain questions baffles me everytime.
Like, watch what happened with time-limited cosmetics. Do we know if next year they'll be back? We don't. Not a single word on the matter from ANY mod. I'm slightly tired of them acting like this.

Could we please extend this catch up to Level 40? It made no sense for anyone to level survs to Level 50 unless they literally play everyone.

I don't know what happend and what idea was behind it, I've read devs/mods comments and still it is not any clearer.
I had all killers at P1 (so their yellow perks would appear in the web), except 5 (they were from 3 to 10). All P1 is P3 now, except Wesker (can't complain, I'll bring the last Wesker to P3 in no time, but Wesker was also P1). Survivors on the other hand stayed the same (I had 1 at P10, two at P3 and mostly all others at P1). I don't care about survivors (they are all the same and my Jill got all the perks in the world), but still don't understand that move in the slightest.
Anyway, thing that all my killers except Wesker are P3+ is fine by me :)

Having a character that was Prestige 3 and had every single perk was no different than having someone that was Prestige 3 and Level 1.
Why this was not accounted for, who knows.
It literally cost MORE bloodpoints to get all the perks at Prestige 3 than it did to LEVEL FROM PRESTIGE 0 TO PRESTIGE 3.
Made absolutely no sense at all and honestly, I'm not surprised one bit.

I think the intention is to boost as many people as possible to P3 on all characters so that they have access to all of the perks. I found the process very confusing, but this last change pushed all of the characters I don't play to P3, so I'm happy about it, even if it doesn't make sense.

But it is bad for those of us who have put alot of time into the game and were left out. I had all characters p3 and perked out well before the changes but like others who also were in this situation dont get rewarded with any bonus levels.
It makes us feel like we were not important enough to be rewarded for our commitment to the game.
Yet other people i know were boosted an extra 2 levels on top of there p3 characters (lvl 10s went to 12s) .
It seems that this was only there to help newer players to get lvl3 perks available, if you were lvl1 you need lvl3 for top tier perks. So people who were p0 p1 p2 were given boost to get perks at tier 3 across all characters, which is where they were before the change.

I feel like I don't seem to understand this either. A month before the patch went live all of my killers (except 3 or so there were P3) were level 50 p0, because there wasn't really a point in prestiging them. When I heard that there would be a reward for doing this I started grinding like crazy during the event to make sure that all of my killers were P3 before the patch went live.
Unfortunately, I only managed this for half of my killers, and the other half were P2-0+, so not P3....
If I'm reading this post correctly, wouldn't that mean that all of those characters should have been granted 2 levels, which technically result in them being rewarded with the prestige portraits? I don't so much care about the levels, but I'd like the portraits, so everything matches if that is something I'm supposed to get.

Level 50 AND P0, P1 or P2? So a level 50 p0 character would be p2 afterwards but a level 1 p1 would stay the same?

This is interesting, because I noticed that my three mains, who were P3-50 before the 6.1.0. update, also received two additional prestige levels. I checked my screenshots and recordings from before the update and confirmed that these characters (Jonah, Claudette and Artist) were indeed all at P3-50.
The subsequent update automatically boosted them to P9 (which was in line with the catch-up mechanic). Afterwards I manually prestiged all three to P10. Since then I only got to around P10 Level 14 on both Jonah and Claudette after manually unlocking Rebecca and Ada's perks on them. Yet they were still boosted to P12. The same for Artist, who was at P11 and is now at P13.

The ones you did not turn the prestige over on are the ones who should now be caught up and be either p2 or p3, as long as they were at least p0 L50.
If anyone was P1 at the time they should have already been boosted to p3 with the first wave. All of these changes are still going off of what your progress was snapshotted as when 6.1.0 rolled out, no progress since counts toward the catchup mechanic.

This is why I didn't prestige anyone I didn't have to. I just made sure they had as many perks prior to prestige 1 as possible despite Behavior was insisting that everyone prestige If they hadn't already. Also, the new bloodweb doesn't give out as many better quality add-ons like it used to. In fact, I prestiged my Dwight 5 prestige levels and got maybe 1 or 2 iridescent add-ons in total. Not a single high quality item was given. I also now have tons of brown items and add-ons. But I kept what I had previously because I never prestiged my Dwight and he is now prestige 9 with almost all survivor perks, tons of items and add-ons.
