Yes - iridescent shards become much harder to earn, and current dbd owners get a founders pack with exclusive cosmetic rewards

Mainly because of cheating. The number of cheaters apparently exploded when DbD was free on Epic with lots of cheaters stocking up dozens and dozens of accounts in case one got banned. At least if it costs something to replace the game if a player is banned it’s a little more disincentive.

Iridecent shards are already hard enough to earn. And cheaters would have a field day if this game were free.

Just to let you guys know, it's not that it's free on epic games that it caused cheaters to come. The anti cheat/the way to cheat is like 8 times easier then steam. Having it be free on steam would be just as difficult as having it paid for for hackers.

I play it because I got it free in steam. My friends dont play because they would need to pay.

So, free = I could play with friends.

Easy anticheat is a joke tho
