The Endorsement System

Endorsement System

The Endorsement System is a new mechanic proposal for Dead by Daylight that would reward player positivity and stray away from the negative ire that many players would have against each other. This system comes in two parts that allow for the Killer and the Survivors to feel rewarded for being good, fair or just players.

Endorsements will begin once the Trial has ended. As soon as you get to the results screen, you will see a new marker next to the Report button known as Endorse Players. As soon as you click on this button, you will be able to Endorse any of the four other players and grant them rewards for their performances.

Types of Endorsement

The following are the types of Endorsements that Survivors and Killers can expect to receive:

  • Fair Player: Granted for a player that decided to be fair toward the other side. Includes players that try to be good allies, try not to scum the other side, try not to exploit in negative ways or try not to camp or tunnel.
  • Fun Player: Granted for a player who the other believes made their experience a lot more fun. Includes players that play for good chases or use their abilities or mechanics in interesting ways.
  • Skillful Player: Granted for a player who the other believes showed a lot of skill and competent ability with their Survivor or Killer.

Each Survivor can reward every other Survivor and the Killer one Endorsement each, after which they cannot endorse that player anymore.

  • Survivors can endorse as many players as they want without any time limit so long as they are not in a team.
    • Survivors that are within any team will only be able to Endorse their teammate once every 24 hours.
  • Killers can endorse as many players as they want without a time limit.
  • Survivors and Killers that disconnect cannot be rewarded with an Endorsement.
  • Survivors and Killers that type "Endorse Me" and anything similar will not be rewarded with an Endorsement.
    • Additionally, Survivors and Killers that have "Endorse Me" or anything similar as their tag will automatically be disbarred from Endorsements until their name is changed.

All players will know which Endorsement they receive, but they will not know by which player they received it from.

Post-Match Endorsing

Players are given the capability to still endorse other players from a previous match if they feel like they have changed their mind about not endorsing them.

  • This can only occur for the previous match's players. Once another match is played, that previous set of players can no longer be endorsed by you.

Endorsement Ratings

The Endorsement Rating system is a new system that allows players to know that they are making a more positive impact to the game, with the levels scaling from 0 to 5. These levels will rise based on the amount of Endorsements you receive from other player.

Players who are at a higher endorsement rating, and thus show they make a lot more positive impact to the game, will be given instant and monthly rewards so long as they retain the ratings they receive.

All players will be able to see each others' Endorsement ratings in the post-game lobby, including the types of Endorsements that they tend to receive.

Direct Endorsement Rewards

The following rewards are granted once you are Endorsed at the end of the match or post-match:

  • 5000 Bonus Bloodpoints per Endorsement given to you, up to a maximum of 20000 Bloodpoints.
  • An increase to your Endorsement Level, as well as an increase to the Endorsement type that you receive.

Endorsement Rating Rewards

For each Endorsement level you gain after level 1, you will be given the following reward per level:

  • 25% Bonus Bloodpoints at the end of each Trial, up to a maximum of 100% Bonus Bloodpoints. This stacks with Offerings and Incentives.

For each month you are Endorsed past level 0, you will be given the following rewards depending on level:

  • Level 1: 100,000 Bloodpoints
  • Level 2: 250,000 Bloodpoints
  • Level 3: 500,000 Bloodpoints + 25% Increased Experience (One Week)
  • Level 4: 750,000 Bloodpoints + 25% Increased Experience (Two Weeks)
  • Level 5: 1,000,000 Bloodpoints + 50% Increased Experience (One Month) + 25 Rift Shards

Endorsement Decay

Unlike Grades, Endorsements do not instantly reset monthly, but will instead decay over a period of time while the player is either inactive from the game or does not receive any endorsement from other players over a period of many matches.

Players that have been successfully reported for cheating or disconnect from a match constantly will experience instant decay from their levels, as well.

Thanking The Endorsement

Just so that players don't have to type in the chat "Thanks for the Endorsement(s)" and risk triggering the inability to receive additional Endorsements, whenever a player receives an Endorsement, they can respond with a prompt to thank that player for their Endorsement to them.

The thank you message will only pop up for that player that endorsed the other players.

Additionally, if you receive an Endorsement reward from every other player, you can instead choose to click the prompt to "Thank All", which will automatically thank every player.

The Fight Against Negativity and The Fight For Friendship

This proposal is meant to make a change for the better, to make Dead by Daylight's community one that actually shows that it can be one of the most positive gaming communities out there and give people reasons to be fair, fun or good toward one another. To promote players who want to be friends rather than complete enemies, to show that there are skillful players out there, to let people know that what they are doing is for the betterment of the community.

An Endorsement System gives players a chance to be positive and would have a positive impact to the game as a whole, if it is done right.

I think it would be perfect for this game to have as one of its biggest QoL features.

This isn't perfect, but I like the general idea -- especially the component where you limit how much people in a group can farm endorsements from their group.

I had a similar idea to this and love the thought of rewarding and not punishing (since it's obviously not working anyway). The only thing is I personally don't care about blood points. They just don't mean anything to me but that's because I have an abundance of them and the items you get with them. I'd prefer iridescent shard rewards, cosmetic rewards, or even a point/currency that I can save up to buy the battle pass with.

I think your system should be automatic for killers.

For example if they hook 1 different survivor, if they don't camp and if they don't slug, they should have their rewards automatically.

It can reduce the camp / slug / tunnel

For survivors, they should also have this automatically if for example they heal their allies, they take a protection hit to protect an injured ally etc...

There must be ways to do this automatically.

Because I see too much abuse (in the sense of reward deprivation, killer never validated, solo survivors never validated) if it's manual.

People are savages who need distance like gravity to stay put.

Almost the same there is in OW. But like... the rewards were 2-3 boxes, not much of a carrot to play caring about endorsements. So here... what reward? Blood points? Shards? I don't think its that important to care much.
