Are people sleeping on Awakened Awareness?

Hello everyone,

I hope that I won't be regretting my words for raising awarness (huh!) to this awesome perk, but I am madly in love with Awakened Awareness. My main killer is Pyramid Head, so this perk gives him extra value, but I tried it with a a fair amount of other killers, and the perk is giving me great value with everyone.

Its sometimes tough to make room in your loadout for something new and we might often feel uneasy leaving one of out tried and tested perks behind in order to embrace a new one, but really, Awakened Awareness is such a fun and useful perk. The main thing that I noticed is, how many cheeky survivors are out there trying to hide close by when you pick someone up and carry them over to the hook. About 65% of every pickup and haul, I see someone hiding nearby and waiting for me to move along.

With Pyramid Head I get a lot of really mean potshots at surprised survivors, but with nearly every other killer this perk can give you a lot of easy hits and extra pressure. And in indoor maps this perk is extra spicy, by just raising your map awareness by 9000.

If one of the survivors I am versin happens to be a TTV player that is streaming live, I love to chime in after the game and watch the match from their POV, and dang, most can't cope with this perk. "How is this happening? How is this possible? Why does he know that I am here? Why is a chasing me, again?" Its fun, but also very, very oppressive, but if you combo too hard, it can be so oppressibe that players might DC.

One recent game on Ormond, there were two survivors on the shack gen. I took a blind shot and hit them both, intercepted one at the door and downed them, then the other just shortly after. Both went on the basement hooks, and when I hooked the second one, I noticed a Mikaela crouching behind the backdoor. So on my way out I gave her a good whack and fully intended to just leave the shack, but the second I hit her the two survivors in the basement DCed. That match was basically over in under 2min, maybe even 1:30min.

But alas, what are your experiences with using Awakened Awareness? What are your combos, tactics or little tricks? Just spill the beans!

Happy gaming.

I'm running other things at the moment but if I wanted to go for an aura tracking build then Awakened Awareness plus BBQ and Chili plus Lethal Pursuer is a combo I'd definitely consider. Basically every time I carry and hook someone I'd see auras everywhere on the map except for a band that's between about 20-40 meters distance. That's pretty great info!

My go-to build right now is Lethal Pursuer, I am all Ears, Awakened Awareness and Deadlock, but for funsies I changed the last one for Franklins. Now its a total chaos build: all this extra hits at unsuspecting sneaky survivors translate to lost items, and lost items lead survivors into making daring rescue attempts that they shouldn't. Between the first hit from Awakened Awareness and then the hit survivor fast vaulting away and activating I am all Ears, it sometimes feels like I am playing with wallhacks, because the survivor is exposed for such a long time.

I recently started using BBQ again on Dredge, and it is just a very good perk. Back in the days when every killer as running BBQ, a lot of the better survivors knew how to hop into lockers in order to counter it. Now that it has fallen totally off the rader, you basically see all the far away survivors with it, and with Dredge this often translates to very brutal locker assaults at self-caring survivors at the otehr end of the map :)

It’s still a pretty solid perk but i feel like there are just better options. Funnily it was nerfed because of nurse yet she is still the best user of the perk

Sams as with Thanatophobie and Legion/Plage: this two killers synergy with Thana got the perk nerfed, and now the two are the only ones who can get some value out of it ^^ It should actually be the other way around. I think that BHVR shouldn't shy away anymore from giving certain perks hard nerfs for specific killers, ie Awakened Awareness not having its lingering effect for Nurse, but maybe for nearly every other killer. This would open up so much more design space, instead of always thinking about the impact a new perk could have on Nurse or Blight.

It's honestly a pretty solid perk that doesn't really feel overpowered. Survivors don't generally pick up on it immediately and it's helpful when you suspect that someone is in an area and will unhook the moment you leave, but you also don't want to waste time trying to find where they stealthed to or confirming if they're still there.

It has that synergy with Lethal Pursuer too, but I've been finding it still usable even without Lethal Pursuer.

There are a lot of games though where you get no value though because either the survivor is in plain sight and knows you can see them or there's just nobody in the area where you downed someone because people don't generally loop with friends. I'd also say that Infectious Fright is better in a lot of situations because it procs before you pick up. When I was newer to killer, I'd use Infectious Fright as a substitute for lightborn because it gave me tracking, but it also told me if someone was in range to get a flashlight/pallet save.
