Reminder that Billy's overheat is still garbage
I'm still holding out hope that they remove it one day. Billy's still my favorite killer even after what they did to him but he feels so much worse then before, not just because of his overheat. Everything about his overheat annoys me, the sound, gameplay implications, and all the addons surrounding it, all garbage.

Exactly. If "overheat doesn't matter" then why do I consistently get very close to overheating when I don't bring a cooling add-on?

I love how the devs still says overheat doesnt matter and Billy is balanced.

I know It's so irritating because if it did nothing then get rid of it he wasn't broken because of feathering he was broken at the time because of a few charge time add ons. And overheat makes him feel so much worse and wastes several addons on making it feel slightly less horrible.

-over 5 addons that affect Overheating
-roar sfx, extra camera chabges that make chainsaw sprinting annoying.
Great decision to make Billy from fun to play to absolute crap.
He never deserved his gutting.

Because you're overusing his chainsaw and probably missing a bunch of sprints. Overheat only affects bad players for the most part.

Overheat genuinely feels horrible for me as I struggle with having to focus on that bar while having to chase survivors, doesn’t help that the chainsaw overheat warning noise is super annoying

Overheat isn't that big of a problem. It punishes people who use his chainsaw too much.

Honestly if I'm playing Billy for real then overheating almost never comes into effect but if I'm trying to have fun and do some cool chainsaw stuff then yes it definitely comes into play because I suck.
Imo the overheat doesn't effect new player in normal gameplay but effects new players trying to just have fun

Overheating ruined billy.
Last night I went against a billy who was probably pretty good but unfortunately I have legacy III Billy so there was no chance for him to win. He spent most of the game trying to saw me and gave up a 3 gen chase for it.
He found the team in the killer Shack and we had the gen to 90% completion. Two fled but me and another person were touching it alternating while he was trying to saw us. I got the last 5% while he was chasing me. Then I threw the pallet and he overheated before he could saw the pallet.
I felt bad for him as a reflection of when I play killer because Billy's power is a joke. It did not use to be that way.

While I do think he has problems, personally I've never found overheat one of them.
Hearing you have legacy III billy, maybe our differences come from the fact that I never really mained Billy until post rework, while you've been playing him since the game came out meaning you've experienced him differently than I have.

Because you are probably not really good with Billy.
I almost exclusively use my Chainsaw for Downs and never Overheat. So you seem to be missing quite a lot of Chainsaws.

Billy was broken when he had the ability to "flick". Since you didn't play when that was a thing : you could srpint at say 0° and then at the end of that sprint flick to make the chainsaw attack at 90°. This was completely overpowered and removed relatively quickly in the first year.
Over time Billy had several nerfs pile up. When they removed all his meaningful addons and added the cooldown mechanic it was just too much. This was after they added random debris to make chainsaw sprinting less effective. This was after they massively increased the cooldown delay for bumping an object. This was after they changed the delay from using the saw to when you could start using the hammer.
Billy is a joke compared to how he used to be. It might be difficult to imagine but I would say wraith has better potential than Billy right now. Note: if I were going to play either I would bring bamboozle.

Agree with this wholeheartedly! Still bamboozled as to why they'd nerf a killer in the same paragraph as they say he's right where they want him to be. Will support this change.👍

They sure do love nerfing killers into unplayability and then ignore them for the rest of the game's existence.
Do not mourn for that thing you liked, get excited about New Thing instead!

You never get good hits with your power if you don't use it. It's like calling a Huntress bad for missing shots, when the alternative is not using her power but a few times per match.
I still have yet to see someone properly defend overheat. They just dodge the question, like you did.

But then again his overheat does not serve a reasonable purpose and makes it harder on newer players that try to experiment around using it... So why not just take it away? Bubba was Nr. 1 facecamper before and overheat didn't do anyhting in that matter, and since for Billy it was the same reasoning nothing changed... You can still facecamp people and at least get a 1 for 1 out of it... So why not just delete the whole thing?

the overheat mechanic is useless for strong killer player because the killer player already knows if they can make the curve in advance in making the curve. you have to actively use your power very recklessly to overheat with billy. his power is not about trial & error like it is with hatchets.
The only purpose of overheat is to use these silly useless add-ons like pighouse gloves for 20% brutal strength and that -8 terror radius add-on.

yes but using his power recklessly is how you both learn the killer and how you haave fun with his power and both of those were gutted with his rework.

not gonna happen. Like deathslinger he was nerfed to the ground and we won't likely see changes in the future for those killers... they literally erased the fun aspects of said killers

Played two billy rounds yesterday, did not overheat once. I'm just a mediocre player with him, so no curve billy plays. But I really tried to down them with the chainsaw, failing at doing so multiple times in a row. The overheat is not Issue, seriously! The removal of charge addons hurt him WAY, WAY more.

Yes Bubba is still the king of face camping. But before the rework, he could stand at the hook with chainsaw ready for indefinite time, making it vitually impossible to unhook (except when he somehow missed), not even for a trade. Now with overheat, which forces bubba to camp without pre-reved chainsaw, you have a good chance to at least trade the hook. Camping is still massively in Bubbas favor, but your odds of unhooking are considerably better than before (still slim though). Removing Bubbas overheat would certainly make it worse.

Oh you just didn't do the thing that actually makes him good, curving. Overheat doesn't necessarily make billy much worse, it does but the bigger issue is that it made him far less fun. Plus he didn't need a nerf to his basekit his charge addons were stupid and I was totally fine with their deletion. Overheat only serves to make billy shittier to play and harder to learn.
