Good example of why Self Care is a Killer perk
I'm in match against Pinhead so I position myself by the box. For the first bit, things go smoothly and Pinhead injures someone in chase, I pick up the box, go to a good tile and solve.
After a couple of times of this Pinhead starts committing to me. A few minutes later I've been hooked once, only one other survivor has a hook, we're down to two gens and somebody else grabs the box. Pinhead finds me while I'm doing the gen and hits me. I think okay, now the other person can start the box. Nothing. Pinhead downs me and picks me up. I'm thinking okay this is a perfect time to start the box. Nothing.
The other survivor with the box goes to healthy and, at about 99% progress on thr box, starts to solve. Of course a Chain Hunt starts and Pinhead, who has Franklin's, teleports, downs the survivor quickly and starts another Chain Hunt.
Nobody else is getting the box but I have OTR up so I run to the box and solve it and run the Pinhead for a bit who beelines straight at me because, well, I'm on death hook, there are only two gens left and only one other survivor has one hook, downs me and kills me while, during this time, the survivor from before picks up the box. Pinhead hits her, grabs the box, and starts another Chain Hunt.
I'm thinking, okay, they might still have a chance so I see the other survivor run to the box, stands right by the box, and Self Cares. Without Botany Knowledge. Against Sloppy. During a Chain Hunt. Yeah, Pinhead gets a 4K.
TLDR: We got killed against Pinhead because another survivor decided Self Caring without Botany Knowledge against Sloppy Butcher was more important than stopping the Chain Hunt and they should try to Self Care during a Chain Hunt. The other two survivors just ignored the box.

Killers can equip self care now?

I'm unsure if you actually read my post or just the title but if you can explain how self caring without Botany Knowledge against Sloppy Butcher especially during a Chain Hunt benefits the survivors I'm all ears.

I know what your getting at just been sarcastic. It's not a killer perk though it's a survivor perk they is frequently misused and is actually pretty bad now just bring CoH.
Calling something a killer perk because survivors don't use it right is just dumb to me.

That's okay; we just missed each other's sarcasm. While self care can be strong when used correctly I think solo queue survival rates would go up a bit if it didn't exist. It's mainly on weekends but, as another example from a different match today, I saw two survivors self caring against Sloppy while standing literally next to each other.

It happens alot especially when the sarcasm is in text. They probably would go up because they survivors wouldn't be in a corner for 4 hrs trying to heal lol.
My problem with x perk is a killer perk is normally because it's been used wrong not the perk itself really so it's like saying survivors aren't bad it's the perk that's bad kind of thing.

The perk is good; it's just mis-used a lot. I use it at times with a We'll Make It and Botany Knowledge build. I heal the unhooked person super quickly and then myself if injured. I'm just being sarcastic when I refer to it as a Killer perk as so many people misuse it so it gets a negative value for them.

Current self care- yes. I don't know why they butchered it, 32 second heal wasn't unbalanced imo

The real problem with Self Care is that the people who bring it are absolutely goddamn determined to use it at least once, no matter what.
It doesn't matter if the killer has Sloppy and Pentimento and you will literally spend half the game self-caring at this point, you're gonna self-heal twice because the killer found you immediately after the first heal and made all that time spent healing worthless.
And what did you do once you found yourself in a nice quiet corner?
It happened. I saw it. I hated it.

I do have to agree current self care is bad. It sucks because they nerfed it because it was to strong at higher levels but it really just hurts the more casual players.

One of the reasons why everyone used it is because survivors didn't have anything to use besides inner strength. So they killed a perk. Now that circle of healing is in the game, everyone spits on self care and they created a new meta perk that they will be nerfing in the future, because it will be one of the most used perks again. With current gen speeds they should've given inner strength a small buff(like giving you a notification when you come within 20m of a totem while injured) and left self care alone. This way there would be more options to chose from for every playstyle

That's a bad player not a bad perk.

The problem with CoH comes from one perk giving team wide self heals. The only way to really fix it is make the self healing speed bad but then that kills the perk.
I was thinking of just CoH having a token system for self heals and then it snuff itself after they are used up and the totem has to be reblessed.

Coh is fine imo. It just makes it look overpowered when you looking at all the other healing perks. If inner healing would receive a buff I was talking about earlier, it would immediately create conflict for coh. If self care would be brought back to 32 seconds there would also be less people using coh. Bhvr always makes these rash nerfs to perks instead of making bad perks better.

Even with the buff iner healing is nowhere near CoH. IH has 5 uses per match between all players and everytime you need to cleanse a totem plus everyone on the team needs it for everyone to get value.
CoH takes one person to bring the perk, has unlimited uses, you don't have to rebless the boon everytime you heal,it also gives a big ol sign to come hear for a save zone.
There perks aren't even close to each other and the heal speed on CoH isn't bad it's just the first heal when you bless the totem feels like forever.

No.
That's a bad player using an even worse perk.

It's not that they don't use it right, it's complete and utter garbage now

Any perk that moves you from going down to taking another hit isn't bad. It might be the worst healing option but it still works.

Solo Q is fine btw. Just play better.
Matchmaking is so trash

no the perk is trash, take Inner Healing.

I agree there are better options, mine is coh, but the perk is far from useless. Playing solo will just have more opportunities to make use of it.

Self Care, in my opinion, can be strong when it synergizes with other perks and is used correctly. However, I see very few situations where Self Care is better than Built to Last with charge add-ons. Even taking the recharge time into account, Built to Last with a medkit heals you faster and your teammates as well.
