Agreed. Can't believe I let myself believe it was fine for a while, too.

You can find more details in the dev update. I made a thread with a link to it.

To pull this off you have to be part of a skillful and highly-coordinated SWF with the intent to trull/bully. That's the not experience of the vast majority of Survivors and only a small fraction of Killers face such a team and only a small fraction of the time. Eruption should have been nerfed instead. That affects the majority of the Survivor playerbase, which are Solo Survivors.

You have to be skilled and coordinated to pull off a locker save. Kindred no longer shows the Killer's aura as long as the bubble that appears upon hooking a Survivor persists. That is a balance problem, not locker saves.

Any killer who has gone up against a bully squad knows that it desperately needed to go and as others have pointed out, bully squads are (almost) the only time you'll ever see this happen.

Sure I guess once in a blue moon the stars aligned perfectly that a solo survivor had a flashlight and was able to do a locker save but that's gotta be a 0.000001% occurrence I imagine

    I watched the video.

As far as the skill, it's timing the flashlight correctly and aiming it correctly. Survivor flashlight saves (locker or otherwise) take more skill than Huntress hatchets; I play on PS4, one is way more hard than the other. Flashlight saves are probably the most skillful thing a Survivor can do and they're being nerfed in different ways. At least, no more complaints about the skill it takes to play Survivor because skill is being taken out of it.

The coordination is that one goes in the locker and the other goes for the save based on the Killer's actions. They're a SWF; SWFs are coordinated. I'll use my experience again. If you go for flashlight saves as a Solo, you're probably throwing the match. There are better ways to enhance your likelihood of survival than following the Killer chasing the teammate

As far as counterplay, there isn't any as longer as the SWF is skillful with their saves. But this video does not depict the average match. Most Survivors are not saving each other in lockers and very, very rarely to Killers load into a match where Survivors are doing that. Get rid of the bubble that blocks the Killer's aura when running Kindred and nerf Eruption; that's the balance the game needs because Solo Survivor needs actual buffs. Not Killer, not SWF.

Lightborn counters the whole thing, iron maiden makes you faster as well, there are counters but nobody respects flashlight users enough because they're used to bots with a flashlight failing all the time, all this goes away when you respect your opponent having multiple flashlights, not only that but lightborn will show you the aura of someone who used blastmine on a gen even if they're far away it has more uses than just for flashlights, you would think with flashbangs stacking killers would be running lightborn anyway just to not put up with it

Iron Maiden makes it easier for locker saves since you do not have to worry about the timing, just hold the light where the blind will be and you will always get the flashlight save.

"Eruption is a problem so you can't fix anything else in the game until you fix it 😡"

I mean locker saves -and- Eruption can both be issues.

And locker saves -were- an issue. They put the killer into an unwinnable situation, grab the person in the locker and they get saved, or leave and look for someone else, and the person heals and does gens.

I don't think this nerf has to do with getting rid of things without counterplay, I think it has to do with giving in to Killer demands/(less charitable) complaints. Maybe making it "more fun" if "fun" means greater likelihood of 4king.

There is a roadmap for changes to the game and Solo Survivor has to wait. Solo Survivor is the only gamemode that really needs changes/help, though. SWF wasn't affected much at all or not at all by the 6.1 update. Solo was massively affected, though. It was a direct Killer buff. Subsequent patches have been follow-up Killer buffs while Solo Survivor is on the 2023 roadmap. Solo should be the priority.

I absolutely hate the leave broken and uncounterable things in the game take just because it’s a rare occurrence

Yeah the locker saves needed to go, anything abusable doesn’t belong in DBD.

Well then blame the swfs for ruining it for solos.

If idiots didn't try to exploit every single loophole, then they wouldn't need to waste time to fix them.

This is great example, same with Boilover in rpd.

Just swf behaviour all because "i want fun wit ma friendz"

I have thousands of hours played and this scenario has happened to me maybe once. Once, in years of playing. I don't get the big deal. Seems like it was a dumb exploit so ggs devs for removing it.

Thank god it's gone honestly. While it did look cool for an audience it was generally annoying as hell and the only counter was lightborn which hardly anyone uses.

They could make lockers only stand alone, but since Dredge exist and how its mechanic works (always teleport to locked locker in a locker group is part of counter play). Guess removing locker save is the only way.

You can always down out side and get saved.

Though this is a nerf to survivor locker build, knowing Head on risk of no way to get saved.

You do realize that there is actually a pretty easy and simple counterplay to Eruption yes?

I don't even use it because it's sort of trash to be honest. And I have faced it multiple times as Survivor recently and it really isn't that great, and yes I am Solo Q Survivor.

First of all pay attention to which generators are "regressing" because they have been kicked, if you know the Killer has Eruption then don't work on the gens that he recently kicked or try to take chases away from them so that he has to go far back to kick it again...

Also, just pay attention, you can absolutely have a good idea of around "when" a Survivor is going to go down, if they've already been hit once, keep working on the gen for a little bit and then let go, expecting that they will probably go down soon, or just go find a new gen to work on during that time and chances are you will find one by the time the Survivor goes down.

Honestly, it is really not that hard to avoid getting hit with Eruption, once you already know that the Killer has it. I usually never got hit by it more than once per match.
