IS MMR TURNED OFF AGAIN?
or am I tripping cause I get paired with people who have 17 hours in dbd while I have 3k?

Yeah it's not off...that just seems to be it's natural state, I got destroyed by an surprisingly nice group of survivors as Trapper, in the end game they asked how long I'd been playing cos they had 5k hours in the game... I had just over 300hrs 😅

Or... the people that constantly suicided/disconnected dragged the mmr for every single one of their teammates down.

that's just how it works, believe it or not.
imagine that mmr goes from 0 to 1,000,000. your mmr is, for sake of conversation, 1,000,000. you've completely capped it, you can earn no more, you are at the highest possible amount of mmr. congrats!
but the game doesn't care. because the matchmaking bracket is 2,000 - 1,000,000. everyone with more than 2,000 mmr is being matched with everyone up to 1,000,000 mmr.
all that matters is that you have enough mmr to be away from the players that are new. it's not trying to put you with your own skill bracket, it's just trying to keep you away from theirs.
and one of them just got an escape that pushed their mmr to 2,001. so now they're in the big kids pool.

It never worked to begin with.

How does that make any sense for what OP said? Unless you're saying they as a trapper were throwing to lower their mmr?

MMR in its current state is honestly basically the same as old red ranks so bhvr has used upwards of 2 years to get back to exactly where they started. All it's done is make people think they should play sweatier for zero reason.

Lets say you have a mmr of 1000 as survivor. You enter a match where a teammate suicides at 5 gens and in consequence everyone dies. Now your mmr is 980. Next match someone suicides at 3 gens, everyone dies and your mmr keeps going down. This continues (of course not every match) until your mmr is as low that the game considers you a new player and matches you accordingly.
The numbers were just a example btw.

What I've seen them do with matching making historically is throw you against newb/expert killers/survivors to break 'streaks' if you're winning to much or too few. Especially if your 3k hours in.

That would make sense, but I'm not on any win streak. I lose approx. 70% of my games since I play solo Q 99% of the time I even play...

Free weekend, increase in new players screws up matchmaking more than normal.

I've been paired with potatoes half of the matches yesterday and today.
Most make me look good in comparison. At some point during the night, I just can't play solo anymore.

mmr is personal escape or loss, if your teammate dies, you won't lose it unless you die too

What are the chances of survival when these kill themselves at the start?

How much fun is it going to be for the killer if they're matched with a lobby where every survivor has 3k+ hours?

I gave up on solo queue yesterday. The Bloodhunt has brought out the trolls. Best to stick to Killer for the next few days.

Just because you have 3k hours in the game doesn't mean your any good. Maybe you are playing with people with 300 hours because the level your playing at!

So how often do you escape through the gate, when someone suicides on first hook?

survivors dont get fun when having not many hours get paired with many hours killers either. and even then having to verse the strongest killers on a regular basis. nurse, blight, nurse, blight some weskers because is popular and not much more.
