Thank you for such an impactful and meaningful comment, truly lifechanging

A lot of people agree actually 💅

I mean, just like any of these threads, (and I mean all threads, not just this topic) nothing's really life-changing anyways

No need to be a Debbie downer.
1 -
I mean, it was a thumbs up
0 -
Uh huh. Sure.
4 -
can confirm
cheryl is also a trans icon but that's just in general
6 -
Nah we all know there’s more to it when it comes to saying just “ok”.
5 -
i dont care
8 -
then why comment
9 -
Careful, you're gonna upset the players that think "sexuality has no place in games!!!" yet strangely are always silent when straight characters are confirmed in lore lol
8 -
Is she canonically gay?
0 -
No.
4 -
You mean not yet*
5 -
You cared enough to comment.
6 -
I can promise you a gay/lesbian icon don't have to actually be gay or lesbian.
9 -
Look. Yui is alright, but as a lesbian I need to give all my love to Kate. My God those hips, they move so much.
4 -
xD

Clearly you do.

I honestly had no idea that's awesome.
0 -
I'd rather not
1 -
So true bestie

Yui fits very well even if not (confirmed) gay (but also not straight). She supports women after being attacked by a stalker etc so it fits very well anyways. Also she is all about breaking traditions and stereotypes
Canonically, it’s not stated yet. She has had a (romantic) partner at one point, who was just referred to by name in her tome story and it’s a Japanese name which gender isn’t stated.
2 -
i know what you are
1 -
Yeah she's VERY lesbian-coded I'd say

Good for them (and I use that term loosely... as I imagine that it's something worth celebrating)

Huntress nea and yui

I think having a masc, muscular woman be gay is vastly uninteresting. Feels like it plays into stereotypes.
0 -
Ok, bigots will complain regardless and lesbians already love her. So, where the problem lies?
1 -
I'm going to ask how that works. In general to be a icon for something they need to have some kind of affiliation with that group.
If people can relate that's cool and i get that but to be an icon kind of confuses me.
2 -
well. I kinda agree and think it’s good Yui wasn’t ‚chosen‘ as the first LGBTQ+ rep for this reason.
but on the other hand, there are ‚stereotypical‘ lesbians (not only lesbians of course) and there is nothing wrong about being a masc muscular woman and those need to get (positive) representation in media as well.
3 -
I didn't say it was a problem. I just find playing to stereotypes an uninteresting way to have representation. David, as an extremely masculine male but also gay is more compelling to me. He plays against what's seen as a gay stereotype.
1 -
Those "stereotypes" are made by heterosexuals, why should queer people care as long as the representation they're getting is good? Are there no buff lesbian bike racer lesbians or something?
0 -
By qualifying Yui as a homosexual without any sort of indication within the lore or her backstory...... You are buying into an reinforcing those same stereotypes. You looked at this lady's appearance and hobby and said yeah, she's this. That's pretty lame IMO. Boring way to categorize folks.
Of course there are lesbian bikers. There are lesbian astronauts, lesbian florists, lesbian archaeologists. Whatever. I'm saying that someone's appearance shouldn't define their sexuality because that is exactly what you are doing with this character. You looked at Yui and said "Yeah, she fits the bill". It's lame.
5 -
I'm been meaning to ask... why? Where did this idea that she's a lesbian come from?
Is it because she's a badass biker? Because she's pro women's rights? I don't quite follow. I don't have a problem either way, I just want to understand.

Because “inclusivity” falls on us and us alone, despite being the ones who have historically been excluded by society.
We’re allowed to be referred to however people want, but heaven forbid we do the same.

It's not on the lore, you can make believe whatever you want. ?
How about we make her the first bisexual?

No <3

Look she can be as straight as she wants on her own time but she better bring those bedroom eyes for me when we're brought together.

Because representation matters. But you wouldn't know it having been represented your whole life, would you?
