BHVR, Pinhead needs Urgent Changes
Today, the new chapter, Forged in Fog, released and with it came the new hex perk, Hex: Face the Darkness. This perk on its own is a really fun and interesting one, but unfortunately it has given rise to a new set of builds for The Cenobite that have been discovered to be completely unbearable and can potentially make the game unplayable for the Survivors.
For the sake of not making this problem worsen, I'm not going to reveal what these builds are. However, what I've noticed from watching other players and content creators using it, is that it's causing players to disconnect mid-match over how frustrating and/or tedious playing the match has become. And soon enough, it will cause more players to instantly disconnect upon hearing the chime of the Lament Configuration at the start of the match.
This is because due to the combination of a variety of perks and add-ons, The Cenobite can make it impossible to cleanse the totems, bless the totems, heal each other, and possibly even complete generators. This could even make it so that Cenobite players can hold the games hostage.
So before this becomes a problem, I'm urging that the following change is made to The Cenobite in order to remove this strategy while keeping the add-ons and perks from being (mostly) nerfed:
- Nerf: The Lament Configuration will now teleport to the furthest location from The Cenobite whenever he is within 16 meters of its location for a cumulative 10 seconds.
- This does not reset upon leaving the range of the Lament Configuration.
- This also disables the aura reading effect of the Chatterer's Tooth add-on.

You can’t tell them it’s broken without telling them why
Thrill of the Hunt and Retribution make you oblivious and therefore not in terror radius so you scream and can’t cleanse Face the Darkness or any other hex Totems because they’re 24 (?) seconds with screams every 25 seconds (plus the small interrupt period on the scream)
The person holding the box can never solve it because they’re oblivious so they scream every 25 seconds, and they have to dodge a round of chains, and with addons the box takes 9 seconds to solve.
Sloppy Butcher makes it difficult to heal the person keeping the hex active because survivors will scream and Hemorrhage will undo the heal progress during the scream. Then Cenobite can come to the loud noise notification and stop you from finishing it

that nerf doesn't even make sense as a proposed fix for your problem.
If the issue is perk interactions, the solution is not "randomly make an object teleport if the Killer is nearby it".

"Here's my solution to a problem!"
"What's the problem?"
"Can't tell you or it might get worse!"

To be fair tou already "worsened" it because i hadnt even thought of it and anyone can just search up what the build is now that they know a build exists

Even BHVR doesn't know what your'e talking about. What's the build?

this post makes no sense. Chatterer's Tooth is meme pinhead add-on. I'm surprise it does not give 100% bonus bloodpoints to all categories for how garbage it is. If their problem with Hex:Face the darkness, they will modify the perk. I am not entirely sure why this perk makes you scream. just make it give 2 seconds of aura reading every 25 seconds. Solving lament only takes 6 seconds, so its still possible to solve it.

Regarding point 2... are you looking at your numbers? At max, box takes 9 seconds... Survivors scream every 25 seconds.
I don't understand, what is the problem with this?
EDIT: Although, with everything else here, I'm pretty sure Face the Darkness will be nerfed tbh. It's pretty obvious what the problem is. But who knows? It's BHVR. They might take a year. :)

It’s harder than it sounds once chain hunt is active. You need a moment where neither a scream or a volley of chains will interrupt you. If you last screamed, say, 10 seconds ago, then pick up the box, you have to dodge a wave of chains, start solving, and finish in 15 seconds before you scream again. If you don’t, you scream, have to wait out another wave of chains, and Pinhead knows you’re trying to solve and come stop you and start another chain hunt. Getting the timing right isn’t as easy if you’re forced to wait between screams for a big enough window

Considering that Pinhead could make the games last a potentially incredibly long amount of time when this occurs BEFORE the patch, it's the Power that needs a significant change.
Besides, the intention to use the Lament Configuration is to instantly either start its main effect or the Chatterer's Tooth effect. Not camp it out and make peoples' lives miserable.
The reason I'm only mentioning it and not outright SAYING what the builds are is because I'm not going to tell people what to use and what to exploit.

When you have a problematic interaction, you should fix the source of the interaction. Not whack in a bodge job elsewhere that A) doesn't properly address it (i.e. that only the person cursed could pick up and solve the box) and B) leaves a random piece of balance nonsense elsewhere in the code.
Like, the issue is a combination of interactions that prevent anyone else from solving totems etc. etc. Twiddling Pinhead's power in a weird way is not a solution.

It DOES tackle the source of the interaction. It's literally the box that causes the interaction to happen, not the perks. You can probably prevent the perks from doing their thing as long as the BOX isn't being camped.

The perk combo basically shuts off doing totems at all if nothing is cleared before it starts, Pinhead just gets an even more absurd benefit out of it. Pinhead doesn't need a kit change, the interactions need revisiting.

Better use it while i can then lol

It might be a bit of an overreach to nerf Pinhead overall because of one potential kit/playstyle. Plus, Face the Darkness hasn't been out for too long now, so we should probably give survivors some time to find any potential workarounds before implementing a patch.

People are going to now anyway, includibg me now that i know something like this exists as i enjoy devour hope and rancor so knowing hex: face can help defend them is very nice to know

Thats why you solve the box before chain hunt lol

Oh yeah, for sure, highly recommend doing that if you’re able. Doesn’t work great if Cenobite finds the box first and forces it to start but other than that, if you ONLY have to deal with the 25 second scream window, it becomes much more manageable. It’s when the two overlap that it’s a problem

Thrill of the hunt meta.

Making pinhead box teleport for being too close to it doesn't solve the issue with the new perk combo. Plus it's a pretty random change that doesn't really solve any problem.

So, the timing on totems is pretty tight. Something like Resilience can overcome it without too much issue, which is way better than Calm Spirit. Alternatively, so long as they don’t bring Haunted Ground, removing a dull totem IS possible and will bring Thrill of the Hunt down enough to make cleansing hexes possible.
Oh, also, OP didn’t mention it, but you can use this combo on Pig too since you can make Jigsaw Box solve time like 16 seconds with gear addons and Pig can go undetectable to get people out of her terror radius so you might not need Retribution if you’re trying to force a headpop

Simplest solution would be "being forced to scream will not interrupt survivors in the process of solving the Lament Configuration" .

If this build with Cenobites catches on, I think I will use Calm Spirit even though that slowdown while cleansing is going to suck. Until they make screaming not interrupt the box lol.
